Secession. Is how yow spell it. The Founders considered and rejected dividing the union into various subpart but didn't. Nah. Boring. My kids have left the nest, so I'm not even up on rock n roll. Hub watches golf, so I know a few golf names. Some of the courses are really beautiful. I can tell you the emperor after Vespanianus, although I may not have spelled it right. But not the ones before.
between the premium subsidies, direct payments to insurance companies (profit backstops) and Medicaid expansion...has anyone seen a number for total annual FedGov cost of ACA?? It has to be in the tens of billions. I wonder how that would compare to just lowering Medicare age to 50...
You could reduce the age on medicare to, say 55, it's much more efficient. And kids being on parents policy to say, 28. Some peole on the muddle would die, but what the hell the herd needs thinning anyhow, and Darwin was rght.
I would assume 50-65 age group has a better health profile than the over 65 group...so the overall pool would be healthier. It wouldn't be free of course...you could charge a couple hundred bucks per month (maybe adjusted for income levels)..just like current Medicare.
you'd probably need to include under 50's with pre-existing conditions..because they aren't going to be able to get private insurance in the "free" market.
I want car insurance that I can buy after an accident. Crazy, you bet health insurance is no different. Repeal Obummer care was false vote buying. I said it long before Trump won they won't let go of the candy jar they will fix it to their pleasure. It should be a state issue. IMO
we should probably just do whatever Canada is doing. They are sneaky smart about taking care of their citizens...not so much anyone in the country illegally.
VA is paid for as an agreement in our national military, so it is not state rights issue. Medicade is managed by the state I believe with some federal funds taken from taxes. Another look at who should get it IMO. Medicare is paid in to by working. There is no cap on paying in like SS. So it is earned not free, lowering the age defeats the pay in period maybe it should be paid out basis like SS. IMO
Canada is great that is why everyone is moving there like all of Hollywood.
Dam maintnence is a great need. All those WPA dams built 80 years ago with 50 year lifespans. Oroville was not a surprise to CADWR. I worked on the flood study of what would happen if it failed back in 2010. Sacramento is just as vulnerable as New Orleans before Katrina.
First thing we should do imo is make everyone on Medicaid re-enroll and prove legal status. That will cut down a significant portion of the problem. States like California wouldn't be so quick to declare "sanctuary status" imo if they were still on the hook for their medical costs..
then again (playing devil's advocate)..why should states who have done a good job of maintaining their infrastructure pay for those that haven't?? California is spending billions of dollars on that stupid bullet train..but doesn't have the money to maintain their dams??
> ...make everyone on Medicaid re-enroll and prove legal status.
I must be getting soft. Re-enroll sure. There are enough service members and here for 60 years types that "prove" is a steep criteria. We can afford to be a welcoming society.
you have to prove citizenship to open a bank account. you have to prove citizenship (or legal status) to fly ..why not for expensive govt services like medicaid??
just occurred to me why Kali is building that train when it costs $49 to fly from LA to SF.....because illegals can't get the "enhanced id's" HSA requires to board a plane.
Policy is simple, Import more poverty. More illegals the better, not just medical but food stamps, schools. Simply put make a problem and make money while buying votes. Some days I think we have grown a county of use full idiots.;)
when the hub was about 30 something, he got cancer. he had a nice legal job lined up
We paid for it all Thanks tax payer
Couldn't take job. Pre existing condition. So stayed with the hurricane people. He. Was supposed to be dead 30 yeaRs ago. He's not. Eventually got a job with Janet Reno then NASA. Paul Tsongas died of it. Now retired. Enbarking on a writing career. Medicare is great.
My retirement being self funded plus SS I have my IRA listed as an asset. Do you list a paid employer retirement as well, even though it is uncollected? How would you scale it ? I guess the age of 85 would be reasonable now days. Asking for a friend.
Now, on to the tax boll. That should be clear and precise. Shouldn't it? Shouldn't it?
Designed to help the rich? Trickle down sounds like it would work,.like austerity, but neither actually do.
I think they should have started with infrastructure. That would get some momentum going. Remember momentum? Now we have anti momentum. Dems like that and Repubs can be bribed by job creating infrastructure in their states, or stuff that's really needed.
I really hate watching anyone doing things badly, even Republicans, which I started out as. Think of those 7 years of votes, which wasted time, and which they didn't mean.
Dems are the part of disruption and I doubt they would play ball with anything except impeachment. Problem with both parties has become self centered and not what is good for the country. Sacrifice Obummer care hoping it would pass then maybe they could get other things done. Now I don't think they could get anything real done with out major bribes. IMO
I stumbled on to a question that points out the hatred of a Dem/Liberal at the wedding last weekend. Was GWB a socialist Republican, confusion immediately set in in. What about Medicare part D and why no praise for this freebee? Remember the compassionate conservative? Picking a party has become like picking a sports team, win for the team is the most important. Repubs chanted and clogged the congress with dump Obummercare for years only to be unable to let go of the candy jar themselves. Sad.
Try to Elina a disease or 2 so you don't have to pay for it in the future Diabetes. . Pay for lots of research. Some of it have gone quite far already. Reward smokers for quitting.
Welfare for big Phrama and buy the senior vote. I agree and Obummercare for the insurance companies and the leisure class vote. Problem is always fueled by money regardless of party. IMO
Medicare is great especially if you didn't contribute much and Medicade takes care of the rest. Can't afford drugs the drug makers may give them to you if you income qualifies.
Amazing pics. Especially from the south pole angle.
ReplyDeleteMcCain is a tough old bird. Best of luck for him.
ReplyDeleteTaps on keyboard, Is this thing on? Oh well good night.
ReplyDeleteGood morning.😀. Why is the picture this shape? McCain is a good guy I think. He wants his swan song I think. He should get it.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that it's a rectangle superimposed on a sphere
DeleteIs the Congress getting anything done?
ReplyDeleteAnything?
If we're lucky, no...
DeleteI think he shoulda had his swan song at least 10 years ago.
ReplyDeleteAccording to my fishwrap, house prices are going up even more.
ReplyDeleteOK I have done some homework. May the deity of our choice help us....
ReplyDeleteHere is link that lays it out:

Good Morning!
ReplyDeleteZillow says my house is up $4,500 in the last 30 days but it just went down $34K? LOL!
Time for the Dems to manufacture another Fake for President.
They are refining tear conclusins.
DeleteLiz consider the geometry of a flyby of a scanning camera with fixed aperture past a sphere. At the lowest point you get the most resolution but you cannot see past the horizon. Thus the narrowing.
ReplyDeleteIs that a Red Spot like Jupiter's?
DeleteYou can do this. Hold a flashlight straight down and pass it close over a basketball.
ReplyDeleteAaahhhhhh.
DeleteWhat is the benefit of this knowledge?
ReplyDeleteYou would know if you were a true dilettante.
Delete2 plants planted, more grass pulled out
ReplyDeleteOrdinary grass.
House went down 7k $. It only counts if it goes up.!!
ReplyDeleteHaving lost $100k last month I agree.
ReplyDeleteThe benefit is precisely that we don't know what the knowledge will be good for.
ReplyDeleteCat escaped. To her, No! Means try harder, be sneakier!
ReplyDeleteSame as Putin.
DeleteLooks like the first vote on changing healthcare failed.
ReplyDeleteDidn't think they were voting today. Thought today is for amendments.
ReplyDeleteBunch of BS votes to no where.
ReplyDeleteThey are bring up all the versions one at a time.
ReplyDeleteAre they trying to torture us so that nobody will follow it.
ReplyDeleteCalexit 2.0 begins:

Remember when people thought Dawgifornia was just an intellectual exercise?
ReplyDeleteWould it have a standing army?

DeleteTexas gets all the press with the succession talk.
ReplyDeleteThe CalExit proposal will become clearer when the text is published, I guess.

I like the Dawgifornia (breakup but remain in the union) approach as opposed to full succession.
Secession. Is how yow spell it. The Founders considered and rejected dividing the union into various subpart but didn't.
ReplyDeleteThe cat ran away and didn't come back all day, even when called, which is unusual. We feared something had eaten her.
No. She was locked in the garage all day. Lots if cat friendly nooks and crannies.
Zillow sez maybe house prices have gone down a tiny smidge. Takes blood pressure pill.
ReplyDeleteWord.
Nitey nite.
ReplyDeleteGood morning.😀! !!
ReplyDeleteWhat will Trump do today??
ReplyDeleteFair to partly cloudy with a 60% chance of tweets
DeleteGood morning!
ReplyDeleteOnly Trump knows. Till they change the name on the Obummmer care candy jar not much seems to be getting done.
That's it!!!
DeleteThey change the name to Trump care and all is well.
The Dems have bigger problems like the
ReplyDeleteWhacky Paki Hack.
Who is that?
ReplyDeleteAh, you admit that Tiny hands Trump is a problem.
My fishwrap sez Tillerson is at.odds with Trump.
ReplyDeleteMy fishwrap sez Tillerson is at.odds with Trump.
ReplyDeletewhat do they say about Bragelina?? any chance for a make-up??
Nothing, and I don't care.
ReplyDeleteGrump, grump.
DeleteSenate Bills waiting for the health bill to be passed, you know Mike?
ReplyDeleteoh ok..you seem really into political gossip..thought you might do Hollywood also..
ReplyDeleteNah. Boring. My kids have left the nest, so I'm not even up on rock n roll. Hub watches golf, so I know a few golf names. Some of the courses are really beautiful. I can tell you the emperor after Vespanianus, although I may not have spelled it right. But not the ones before.
DeleteGoogled it. Found a site with bills and prognosis. Only 1 as high as 67%. A few over 30%, mostly involVing Dams.
ReplyDeletemost likely they will just repeal the mandates..which will cause the whole thing to come crashing down..
ReplyDeletebetween the premium subsidies, direct payments to insurance companies (profit backstops) and Medicaid expansion...has anyone seen a number for total annual FedGov cost of ACA?? It has to be in the tens of billions. I wonder how that would compare to just lowering Medicare age to 50...
ReplyDeleteWon't the young people having to sign up make things somewhat better? Hmm, if it crashed the result MIGHT be cheaper heath care.
ReplyDeletePouring more money into the system just cause process to rise faster. Where's cost containment?
Deletebelow 50 you could just do some tax credits I guess..and let people buy policies in the "free" market
ReplyDeleteYou could reduce the age on medicare to, say 55, it's much more efficient. And kids being on parents policy to say, 28. Some peole on the muddle would die, but what the hell the herd needs thinning anyhow, and Darwin was rght.

ReplyDeleteOk.
Deleteyou'd probably need to include under 50's with pre-existing conditions..because they aren't going to be able to get private insurance in the "free" market.
ReplyDeleteThere you go, a little discussion without lobbyists or politics involved and the Lawyer Liz/Mike team has it all wrapped up!
ReplyDeleteI want car insurance that I can buy after an accident. Crazy, you bet health insurance is no different. Repeal Obummer care was false vote buying. I said it long before Trump won they won't let go of the candy jar they will fix it to their pleasure. It should be a state issue. IMO

DeleteIt should be a state issue. IMO
ReplyDeleteso no Medicare/Medicaid/VA etc??
we should probably just do whatever Canada is doing. They are sneaky smart about taking care of their citizens...not so much anyone in the country illegally.
ReplyDeleteDoing what MX does to illegal immigrants would be inhumane.
ReplyDeleteIn Canada..they have no access to the health care system, can't enroll their kids in school..they can't even legally rent an apartment.
ReplyDeletewhat I admire about Canada is they manage to pull this off while maintaining a liberal/progressive image to the rest of the world..
ReplyDeleteParis Climate agreement?? "Sure count us in!!"
ReplyDeletemeanwhile back home..."Ramp up those tar sand fields!!"

ReplyDelete... And the Central Valley too. Just let the blue counties secede...
Delete..and of course it's only fair that they pay off their share of the accumulated federal debt before they leave...
ReplyDeletethey have about 12% of the total population..so 12% of $20 Trillion..

DeleteBig thunderstorm approaching
ReplyDeleteGood Morning.😀
ReplyDeleteStorms never got here.
Well, no bill.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, instead of the health care bill exploding, Trump will.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning!
ReplyDeleteYou really didn't expect them to do the right thing and repeal Obummer care, give up all the money for votes and side deals?
No rain here for some time, drought in parts of the state killed the dry crops for this year.
Hurrah for the checks and balances.
ReplyDeletePoor plants. Poor farmers. We've had tons of rain. New plants hapy.

Eliminate. After diabetes go for heart disease.
ReplyDeleteWelfare for big Phrama and buy the senior vote. I agree and Obummercare for the insurance companies and the leisure class vote. Problem is always fueled by money regardless of party. IMO
ReplyDeleteThe money is not in the cure, it's in the longterm symptom relief. Merck makes the only MMR vaccine and it's heavily cost regulated.
ReplyDeleteYep, but if you don't get it, you won't have symptoms.
DeleteIf only 10% of previously doomed diabetics don't get it, you are going to save money and make people happier.
ReplyDeleteLiz, what about the insulin manufacturers? They are going to starve!
ReplyDeleteDon't care. They prolly produce something else.
DeleteI don't know why insulin is so expensive, my grandma took it and so never companies about cost. . . And she would have. She was cheaper than Rob!!
ReplyDeleteComplained
ReplyDeleteThe same people who produce the insulin are the ones you are asking to cure diabetes.
ReplyDeleteMayne not
DeleteIt is being worked on.

ReplyDeleteThe answer is probably not what you'd think...but glad I wasn't the research subject...
I got stung just below the eyebrow. It was may be a 2, and pan went away in a medium time.
DeleteMy daughter carries one of those pens. I think she got it before it got expensive.
ReplyDeleteMedicare is great. Only one thing was really expensive and that was glacoma eye drops. Cheaper ones exist but i decided to go with what was working.
ReplyDeleteTry pot instead
DeleteMedicare is great especially if you didn't contribute much and Medicade takes care of the rest. Can't afford drugs the drug makers may give them to you if you income qualifies.
