One More Thing to Worry About

Science Daily reports:

41,000 years ago, a complete and rapid reversal of the geomagnetic field occured. Magnetic studies of the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences on sediment cores from the Black Sea show that during this period, during the last ice age, a compass at the Black Sea would have pointed to the south instead of north.

Off topic - good to see you back in business Dawg!

Not off topic at all sir.

One of the reasons I took an extended hiatus was because the dance floor was too crowded. The things we talk about here are because no one else is/was paying attention.

Remember "Eric?" He and I just scored with QQQ puts because complacency trumped reality.

I'm not going to worry very much about a polar reversal. I am going to worry about another real estate decline.

"The good want power, but to weep barren tears.
The powerful goodness want: worse need for them.
The wise want love, and those who love want wisdom;
And all best things are thus confused to ill."

The centre cannot hold.

I can think of no better bet than against rising values amid declining complacency.

Don't you mean "look forward" to another real estate decline? I am!

It won't be a "decline." It will be a reordering. It will be difficult to make money providing housing on a retail basis. It will be crazy easy to make money as a bulk provider of shelter. All you need is to be a big player.

Reordering? Please elaborate.

Didn't watch any of the debates. Good thing; everything I've heard suggests WASS.

The nature of shelter is being fundamentally remade to the advantage of the banks. The mom and pop owners of a handful of units is an endangered species. Rentals are being corporatized and monetized.

I cannot emphasize how very dangerous it is to allow banks to do anything except banking.
