Oh to be Merely Average

Gas prices in California are insane and we are doing nothing about it.  Boiling frogs is too easy.

But don't you guys have to have a special formulation to prevent smog

$2.449 E10. RBOB is over $2.02 so summer trend is on target to rise.

Kali is special and everyone is rich or loading their U-Haul for Texas. :(

Lawyerliz said...

What's E10 orRBOB?.

Lawyerliz said...

In the last several weeks gas has varied between 02.399 and 2.559. Central Merritt Island.
I know not why. Since Dawg is not loading, and so he must be rich.

Rob Dawg said...

E10 is the crappy 10% ethanol mix that does nothing but enrich Midwest corn growers. RBOB is the wholesale quote price for regular unleaded gasoline at the end of the delivery pipe.

LBD said...

E10 is 10% ethanol blend. RBOB is wholesale traded price of gas so it gives you an up coming trend for retail pricing. Bloomie has it on their tag line.

If Kali had the population of 1965 there would be almost zero pollution with today's technology.

Etanol tax credit and ethanol import tariff make it possible for those poor farmers to scratch out a living. Drop the tariffs and they will be smoked by Brazilian ethanol. Funny how that works, school food programs are not really about feeding kids and their nutritional needs.

Rob Dawg said...

Brazilian energy policy is impressive.

Lawyerliz said...

Kill them all and please Darwin.

Lawyerliz said...

One more thing showing we care for thefarmers rather then kids. Like the gun thing, and he sugar on everything thing.
Instead of just expelling the trouble making boys, they should.have their mental health looked at and the get 2 to 6 or 9 months of care. If they hate and despise school, well ok, I can understand that.
Some vocational training could be offered.

They used to make nice shoes.

Being young is certifiable. Certifiable by people who have forgotten what it meant to be young. Puberty is being young and high on hormones. The old (really effin old) need to dredge up their youth.

On the other side look at the manipulation being exerted on these kids opposing the NRA.

LBD said...

This is more about conditioning future voters. Listen to them and you will hear "If I Could Vote" just a cycle away for this to be effective. Evil people IMO.

Lawyerliz said...

Who are evil? Me? I think the marching is wonderful. They did this by themselves. Who is supposed to be manipulating them? Just because you disagree with them? Nobody manipulated me when I marched. They are 16 to 18, adults when the revolution staryed

LBD said...

Not you but the ones who diverted from the real failure and jumped on gun control. Who organized and paid for the DC trip and lodging? Did you notice the last nut didn't even use a gun? Nothing wrong with youth protest when it is not guided by adults with an agenda.

Lawyerliz said...

People gave money, including Kushner's brother. Who was the last nut? I've lost track.

Lawyerliz said...

But the kids started it. We had drills hiding under the desks for.nuclear war, which is ridiculous nut made somebody feel better
Not me.
But it wasn't personal. And there was nothing we could do about it. Lack of Gun control is a problem, lack of support mentally ill young men is a biggie. What do you see as the others?

LBD said...

As I stated before the government killed those kids. They ignore some pretty damming facts and did nothing. About the only thing they didn't do was drive the killer to the school. If they did their job the killer would not have been able to buy the weapons used to kill the kids and teacher. Deputy Barney Fife gut less act was the last straw. The gun was not the biggest problem. Duping kids is not right and shameful. IMO.

LBD said...

Austin Texas bomber was last weeks nut.

Lack of Gun control is a problem

An opinion entirely unsupported by the facts.

Rob Dawg said...

The kinds of gun control we have now is the moral ethical legal and traditional equivalent of presumed innocent. The kind of gun control being advocated these days is one of being forced to prove your innocence.

We require age 21 before buying and consuming alcohol is legal. Used to be 18, but was changed to save lives - and it has.

We require extensive training before allowing license to operate a motor vehicle. Why? Because it is HIGHLY dangerous to do otherwise.

We require seatbelts to be used. We require air bags in cars.

In short, we require a vast array of 'government forced' regulation intended to make things that are dangerous safer. None of these efforts is perfect - but we know with absolute certainty that they have a net positive impact - that lowers death rates and injury rates from many, many things.

There is nothing evil or unconstitutional about DELAYING legal gun purchases so background checks can be effective. There's nothing evil or unconstitutional about setting a minimum age limit on gun ownership and/or usage.

LBD said...

Good Morning!

I question extensive driver training to get a license. Most people have first think what to do and then react to a situation and not respond automatically. Race driving requires extensive driving skills that teach you to respond automatically. Public driving test is very crude, just keep it off the side walk and don't kill anyone for a few blocks. It's more about revenue.

I should be free to buy a car with the same safety equipment as a motorcycle. Why do they have little to none. Some states don't even have a helmet law.

As adults we should be allowed to take risks we choose. A sixteen year old kid with a piece of government paper and a 3500 pound guided missile, throw in a cell phone and you have the same as a gun with a bump stock. Chose your weapon.

Lawyerliz said...

How about not selling AKs to anybody under 28. That might get through.

Lawyerliz said...

I hope guided middles are hard to get. I flunked parallel parking. Rarely needed in Florida.

Lawyerliz said...

Oh, you meant a cat..Liz blushes. 😳

Lawyerliz said...

Car!!!!!

LBD said...

Liz, The insane are not stupid. They will find a tool that works for them. Criminals don't care about laws, so what good would another law do?

Lawyerliz said...

Us and GB kicked out a bunch of Russians

Lawyerliz said...

Knives can only kill a few at a time. No expelling until mental health is addressed, somewhere else, and the ability to read.

Lawyerliz said...

Well Remington filled bankruptcy to restructure debts they said.

Encinitas Undercover said...

Well there's a vote in November to repeal the recent gas- and car- tax hike.

Calif is so left now even that might fail.

LBD said...

Be honest the Left has owned Kali for a long time. Even the Govenator wasn't a strong Republican.

Lawyerliz said...

Why do you guys stay there? Bitch, bitch, bitch

Rob Dawg said...

Don't you like my flower pictures?

Seriously, If you live below the radar and within your means then it can be a great place. The bitching is because we either know or even remember how much greater it can be.

Rob Dawg said...

Adding. We are doing one thing. Part of the gas tax is on the November ballot.

Lawyerliz said...

Of course I do. I have some nice ones too.

Ethanol wrecks small engines like motorcyles. It eats away the seals and gaskets. It's also really bad for engines that only get occasional use as well because it pulls water out of the air faster and binds it in the liquid.

Lawyerliz said...

I have a car that's not used much. Uh oh.

LBD said...

Hard core racers I met over the years preferred Methanol over Ethanol. Any blend of Ethanol and gas will gum up after 90 days IMO. Using Methanol in the last race engine made unbelievable amounts of water condensation in the crankcase. Ten inches of vacuum in the pan stopped it. It is a very corrosive fuel and proper shutdown draining of fuel and flooding with WD-40 is a must.

EngineerJim said...

>Ethanol

Fortunately we seem to be spared from ethanol in California.

EngineerJim said...

Opps, I see that we do use ethanol in CA.
However it isn't labeled as such at the gasoline pump (like it is in the midwest for example).

Rob Dawg said...

Case-Shiller numbers are out and huge. Low inventory, low vacancy, upgrades all send sale prices higher. Near 12% yoy for Las Vegas.

The Dawghaus is again in nosebleed territory. Honestly though if we win the lottery tonight besides new tires for the truck we would buy the fancy mid century modern up the street and maybe a country club membership.

LBD said...

Good Morning!

House and bank account look the same here. I have no idea what I would do if I won the lottery, Maybe go racing with a hired crew and driver. I would have to win big. :)
