Pushing Prices Past Practical

From the Village of Wrightwood, CA we find an example of price and quality not even close.

1744 Irene St Wrightwood, CA 92397
$210,000  Listed at Price  2Beds  1Bath

675 Sq. Ft.  $311 / Sq. Ft

The only plus factor is a 6,000 sf lot, but that is on a corner and one of the busier streets and the low side of the street.  Why someone is paying $300+/sf is hard to fathom.  Even the "one bath" is actually a three-quarters bath.

Is there a premium from being a few blocks away from the fault line?

You know the area. Wrightwood is not near nor even over the San Andreas Fault. Wrightwood is -IN- the San Andreas Fault.

The line is indeed a few blocks away if that matters.

Watched part of a video driving through Wrightwood following the fault lone. If all hell broke lose it probably doesn't matter where you are out there anyway. ;)

Is this when eugenics and Darwinism kick in?

Are they allowing more building there?

A half mile away deeperband closer to the actual surface rupture line there is a huge and mostly unused LDS church. Wondering just how they plan on getting to the sanctuary and how they plan to keep the other 11 million from joining them.

Up here in upper Tornado Alley we know where they are going to hit! LOL!

I’d like people to focus on a 60 year old half log cabin on a modest lit in a remote area going for $300/sf. Why?

Damage in fault zones is not uniform. The Marina district in SF an the freeway overpass in Oakland were not in the San Andreas zone. The fault runs through Woodside where we used to keep and ride our horses. There is a trail over the zone that we rode frequently. Not much damage reported in Woodside or other cities in the zone. The areas that got hit were between Los Gatos and Holister. My house was about 10 miles from the epicenter and did not suffer damage. Maybe if it had lasted longer the house may have suffered some sheetrock cracks.

Because Kalifornians are crazy.

Good Morning!

Rain turning to snow later today with a cold blast.

Kali's look at me class is not concerned with value but bragging rights. Besides what's the worry Real Estate only goes up. :)

Lawyerliz said...

I wouldn't brag on that!

Firemane said...

In Cali, Real Estate also goes down ... and side to side ...

It's only the prices that move in just one direction. ;)

I'll stick with NC, where the tornadoes only seem interested in mobile homes ... and we only have to deal with the occasional hurricane.

As Dilbert Dogbert says; Stay Away!

Cabin fever or snow blindness to blame?

I will never be sure if the air strike was justified against Assad but I will assume we had enough intell to know. Even if this was a mosquito bite it does serve notice that chemical weapons are considered a no-no, so other nuts won't think it is OK. It also questions if Russia even tried to stop the chemical weapon building and use. Now what's next, I think Russia would have acted sooner after the attack. Weak Obummers line in the sand being cleaned up by T. IMO

Both I am ready to get back to spring but getting stuff done.

Aren't you having a big snowstorm there?

1: SoCal has been in an RE bubble of various degrees since Prop 13. There's a LONG way to fall.

2: Both the UK poisoning and the Syrian chem attack reek. IMHO we blew a quarter-bil on 'hawks just to make room for the new models.

Lawyerliz said...

You all aren't just crazy?

LBD said...

Good Morning!

The blizzard is over and the snow disappeared except a few drifts. Strange but still cold and a 10+ MPH wind is like ice.

Forgot to mention we had an earthquake here in Central Nebraska in the town of Arnold last week, 4.3 =:0
