Interactive Unemployment
The Sacbee has a great interactive unemployment graphic here.
What would REALLY be cool is if you could interactively *affect* unemployment via the map. I'd go straight to the Sacramento area and change it to dark red! :-)

From the unemployment map, you can really see how the the state would nicely break down into maybe four new states.
In the North, you would have the state of South Oregon, with the capitol in either Mendocino or Eureka.
The state of Pacifica would down the Coast from Marin through Monterey county, with San Francisco as the capitol.
The state of Riveria would run down the coast from SLO to San Diego, with the capitol in Los Angeles, since the city is already loaded with state and federal buildings.
The remainder of the former California would be the counties east of the coastal range and south of Sacto, to the Nevada border on the east and the Mexican border on the south. This new state would be named South Nevada. The capitol would be in either Fresno or Bakersfield, although that state would be welcome to keep Sacramento as a monument to bad government.
The economies of South Oregon and South Nevada would be based on selling agricultural products, water, and prison space to the coastal counties. They could also compete with the current Nevada for gambling business.
The coastal states (Pacifica and Riviera) would have to fight it out to attract investment, as neither one would have a monopoly on the desirable places to live. This would hopefully serve to reduce the government load overall.

We might as well start discussing this, because it's one of the possible outcomes of what is now hitting the late great state of California. The current state is pretty much officially a failure.
I'm worried about Casey. Where is he going to live? How is he going to pay rent, since he has (had) his own apartment?
Since his boss and female colleagues were attractive, or at least well-endowed and showing off their assets, I wonder if he was, in fact, fired because of some relationship issues. Or for refusing to have a relationship. Although one reason does not necessarily exclude the other. I mean, a girlfriend could as easily as a boss decide that she doesn't want to be known for being with Casey.

That's not true. The worst she is guilt of is failing to do due diligence up front. OK, I thought Monica's comment about work being a right was funny, but now this... Casey as a Trophy Boyfriend? Wow, talk about delusional.
I've seen the pictures of the three women in question, by far Angel is the best of the three (your milage may vary) - but ANY of them could get a better "trophy" than Casey.
Also, as many have pointed out - Casey needs to get out of "finance" as he has NO talent for it. With his background, he needs to stick to jobs that won't do a background check. His lack of work ethic will also prevent him from doing well where heavy labor is involved.
I seriously think retail or food service would be his best bet - at least to start out. He could try going back into programming, but it's almost a certainty that they'd look him up on google. He's knocked himself out of the one industry he had even a small bit of success in.

Yeah, I think the first pre-requisite of any female's "trophy boyfriend" is that the guy has to be straight!! ;-)
The women are not that young. If, for instance, they are at least 10 years older, any average-looking guy of Casey's age would still be a trophy boyfriend. The kind they can afford.

C.N. Ha, yeah I assumed she was a troll, but not 100% sure. 95% of her posts leave an obvious opening for a snarky/sarcastic remark, so I just assumed so...but who knows :p
Well, at that age, a woman who wants a younger boyfriend would be proud to even give the impression that she has one. But if those women don't want to give the impression that they may be after younger office boys, why are they showing off their obviously fake racks? If they want to be treated as decent women who are not like that, they should just cover up a little more.

If Monica is a troll, why assume that "she" is the correct pronoun? The self-description (short and frumpy) appears somewhat stereotypical. It could just as easily be a "he".

I did not say that I'm frumpy, only that I cover up. I'm wearing that but, rest assured, only the skirt part is visible, as I am wearing a jacket that is buttoned up to my neck. I'm also covering my head with one of those thin hats that Jewish or Muslim women may wear under their scarves to prevent them from slipping off (or to prevent hair from slipping out of the scarf), but without the scarf.
