Forest Service Land

In a previous post we discussed the interesting situation where you bought the sticks but didn't own the dirt.  The Forest Service would hold ownership and grant extremely long lease terms for the plot.  This is one such example.

$109,900 Beds:3 Baths:1 House Size:1,100 Sq Ft

Sadly this listing suffers the same agent fluff as most properties.  The porch, outhouse and garage are not square feet.

I'll do some research and find out how much is left on the lease.

I'd love a place on FS land, as long as the lease outlived me (since I don't have any kids). Some friends have one (lakefront) up north where there's only one other cabin still standing.

Does the FS tear the buildings down when the lease is up?

Why mess with the Forest Service lease when you can own!

Here is a place I have been watching with great interest:

$895,000 320 Ac Near Hungry Valley Svra, Gorman CA

It is private property nestled inside the Los Padres National Forest behind the Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area.

Two things:
1) a factor a 8 difference in price!? WTFWASS
2) please tell me how to post "hot links"...

The price is WAY high. But they are not making homesteads any more!!! Especially with terrible dirt roads carved along mountainsides to access said homestead.

Here is a BlogU link with a simple way to embed a link.

Cinco-X,

Depends upon the FS's plans for the area.

Our friend's place was one among a dozen along the lakefront, but as each lease ended the properties have been "restored to their natural state".
