Market Cap Madness

When the correction comes no one had better say there weren't warnings. When Tesla and Ford have the same market cap something is seriously wrong.
A citrus blossom.

Baby limes for my gin & tonic in about six months.

maybe not..people aspire to owning/driving Tesla's...Ford..not so much.

You didn't have an evangelical upbringing by any chance? Aspirational investing?

I was raised Catholic...which is a great system for making sure people have abandoned religion by age 16.. ;<)

The "Confirmation Spiritual Retreat" usually seals the deal.

Hahahaha. Yep.

"Confirmation Spiritual Retreat"

I think we went to a Brewers game.. :<)

For my cub scout hiking "patch"...my dad walked with us about a half a mile down the road to the local tavern..he had a beer, we had cokes..and then we walked back. :<)

For a long time I really tried to force myself to believe.

I think that sometimes people buy stocks because the company is fashionable. This usualy does not work.

I thought Amazon at 100 was crazy..now look at them..

Rob Dawg said...

Works for the early believers.

Rob Dawg said...

At least Amazon has enumerable value.

I don't understand why FCA or F don't drop $4b and duplicate a Tesla division like GM did with Saturn.

dodahman said...

Ford is overpriced?
Hello to all..

Mike said...

At least Amazon has enumerable value.

back when they were at 100..the only "enumerable value" for them was their chronic losses...

Tesla is obviously a "visionary genius" bet (Musk)...sometimes that works out (Bezos, Jobs, Buffett)..sometimes it doesn't.

Yahoo home page..my ad blocker says it's blocking 4,500 ads..

oh..and hello dodahman!!

Cinco-X said...

Does Tesla make a pickup?

Mike said...

regarding "baby limes for your gin & tonics"..now if you could only figure out how to grow a gin tree..you'd be in business.. ;<)

Cinco-X said...

Yup...VC kept them alive long enough to destroy retail as we knew it, and now they're King of the Hill

Greetings ye ole HCN'er

Isn't gin just rubbing alcohol with sloe berries?

Rob Dawg said...

Eric used to weep for his puts. I am weeping for the chunk of F I bought recently at about half a Taurus ago.

Interesting coincidence. ZH has an insane rant by Knustler and some entertaining comments about Musk.

Rob Dawg said...

Stop! Both of you. It's only 9:30am here.

Rob Dawg said...

You plant potatoes in the garden? Wait. That's vodka.

The most usual production method for gin is to distill botanicals, such as juniper, coriander, citrus peel, cinnamon, almond or liquorice, with neutral grain alcohol. Making gin is like flavoring vodka, except that botanicals are always natural.

I guess I could do a lot of that except cinnamon.

The price is the price. Right now dividend yield, p/e, assets, free cash flow, profitability etc. it appears underpriced.

Tesla otoh is n/a for everything I understand about investments.

Rob Dawg said...

Yeah welcome (back?). Pull up a hammock or beach chair or if you really want to be helpful a weed eater.

help yourself to the gin tree!!

hitting against S Strasberg doesn't look like a lot of fun..97 mph fastball..and then he'll follow up with a 91 mph slider..

Hi doodah! Can you get Josap and outsider to make the switch???

Rob Dawg said...

Liz. I kinda expected a slow drift. People have different triggers and tolerances. Penguin prolly won't move over until she tires of Mudfilledecon. Jojo really needs to be here so we can talk more RE. Speaking of the second half of Tom's Sonoma report tomorrow morning. Interesting data on resale prices relative to purchase price.

I have near a cubic yard of grassy organic material. Cinco has shamed me into trying a compost pile. Let's see how it goes.

Cinco-X said...

It should be 11 AM soon enough...

Cinco-X said...

You may need to add some nitrogen to get it cooking...

Rob Dawg said...

Acid balance? Add or keep out pine needles or redwood branches?

Tomorrow is read poetry day at the college. In honor of Bob Dylan's acceptance of the Nobel Prize, I'll read it's a Hard Rains a Gonna Fall.

If time allows Cynarae. ( Non sum Qualis. . ) And Always True to you Darling in My Fashion.

Elizabeth Merceret said...

Kitchen waste I think.

Rob Dawg said...

Tell me you can listen to Peter Gabriel, Bruce Springsteen, Sting and not hear echoes of Dylan.

I think you should try to imitate Dylan's singing style/voice while you read it.. ;<)

Mike said...

I detect some Dylan in Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower" too ..

Elizabeth Merceret said...

Well, I don't sing very well either.

Cinco-X said...

A little lime could fix that.

Cinco-X said...

Me too!!!

Cinco-X said...

I also pick up a Dylan vibe in Darius Rucker's Wagonwheel...

Elizabeth Merceret said...

I did a bunch of chopping. Dawg would you trade obnoxious

Grass with me for sawgrass?

'Hi doodah! Can you get Josap and outsider to make the switch???'

Thanks. You even added the 'o', which should be there if I could spell well.
I have little control over what I do, much less what others are up to...
best wishes to all

Hello Doodahman.

Who is worth more, Tesla or Ford. If one when out of business tomorrow which would have the bigger impact.

Rob Dawg said...

Liz, you would be getting the bad end of that deal. Three days of pulling:

For reference the line on the green barrel is a bushel. Yeah, that much.

Uncovered nastursiums. The color so intense it exceeded the camera's capabilities:
