National Park Service researchers say a female and male kittens, named P-59 and P-60, were found by biologists earlier this month in the central portion of the range.
Their mother is P-53, the youngest female in the study to bear offspring at two years old.
Scientists say this is her first litter.
The father is believed to be P-12, the only lion documented crossing into the Santa Monica Mountains from the north.
A biologist with the NPS says if the kittens's father is P-12 it means he is also their grandfather and great grandfather.

I signed up for Movie Pass the first day the new offer was made. I'm still waiting for the required debit card. Apparently they were overwhelmed with demand.
Nomorobo - update. The robo calls have stopped, but I am getting one "live" call a day from a sophisticated spoofer company.
Meow.
The 10 a.m. bond hearing at the Adelanto Detention Facility in San Bernardino County was tense, with his four daughters sitting in a row on a bench as the judge questioned Avelica-Gonzalez about his family, his years in the U.S. and his criminal history. They sat wide-eyed, on the brink of tears.

The answer is to end the birth in soil attraction.
2) The surge in distressed sales during the housing bust distorted the seasonal pattern.
3) Even though distressed sales are down significantly, the seasonal factor is based on several years of data - and the factor is now overstating the seasonal change (second graph below).
4) Still the seasonal index is probably a better indicator of actual price movements than the Not Seasonally Adjusted (NSA) index.
Note: I was one of several people to question the change in the seasonal factor (here is a post in 2009) - and this led to S&P Case-Shiller questioning the seasonal factor too (from April 2010). I still use the seasonal factor (I think it is better than using the NSA data).
House Prices month-to-month change NSA Click on graph for larger image.
This graph shows the month-to-month change in the NSA Case-Shiller National index since 1987 (through June 2017). The seasonal pattern was smaller back in the '90s and early '00s, and once the bubble burst.
The seasonal swings have declined since the bubble.
The swings in the seasonal factors has started to decrease, and I expect...

Gee Bill. Thanks for your decade of allowing me to be abused on these same points in your blog.
Is it wrong to see 81° on the thermometer and consider calling 911? Asking for a friend.
No, hahaha
81?? somebody please do a welfare check on the dawg residence..
we should name them after the Lannisters.
lol (I'm currently reading the first book)
The poor scientist kid. The AC in the cab of the data collecting machine is broken. With the doors open it is still a relief to step out into the 108 degree tomato fields.
I appreciate her devotion to my Romas..
At her level of basic research I doubt a tenth of the characteristics being evaluated ever make it to production.
The bio (not biotech) revolution is eclipsing the industrial revolution. Anyone seen those grapes that taste like cotton candy?
The kid tracks stuff you might never think important. Days between plant growth phases. Think about how much cheaper your tomatos will be when one robot can schedule 1000 rows per day instead of needing a thousand robots trying to harvest a million rows on the same day and still not getting them at their peak. And storing a thousand bits and distributing a thousand bits and on and on.
I think the tomatoes we get up here are grown in Canada..upgrade from Mexico
Old timers will recall that after dropping off my thesis I rode my motorcycle end to end the I-10. The Houston scenes are amazing.
Grown in Canada picked by Mexicans. Who did Canada steal their country from?
Saw a family dragging their stuff along piled in a large pool rubber ducky.
I am not easy to anger but the Houston people complaining that they were not informed tripped my triggers.
Who did Canada steal their country from?
"Third nation" or something. They are bitching about us accidentally releasing a few hundred thousand farmed Atlantic salmon into the wild last month.
well excuuuuse meeee!!
Wild caught Atlantic Salmon. Product of Chile. Remember how much crap I took for being correct?
god yes...the good old days..lol
we'll just call them "Feral Atlantic Salmon" now...
There's a Sun Tsu lesson in here someplace.
Is there a racist salmon thing I don't know about? Oh, I don't like salmon never mind. :)
I heard Whole Foods cut their prices on Feral Atlantic salmon
You don't like Salmon? Speciesism!
The American (Canadian) Indians, same as us.
They didn't. I checked. Wild Coho is still $10 at both Ralph's and Costco.
We there was no good solution. Driving clogs roads unbelievably. We drove out from Andrew, when hardly anybody left. A 3 1/2 hour drive turned into 7 slow hours. Staying would have been awful. In Houston there was no good solution, except not building it that way in the first lace.
Hahahahaha.
You don't like salmon? What's wrong with you. Will they swim back up the river they got dumped into.?
would love to hear one retailer say..we don't really know if this is wild or farmed..or something imbetween.
Lox? Where is that supposed to come from? On a whole wheat bagel with cream cheese. How can you not like that?
Hmm , it came from a lox tree, complete plastic vacuum bags. They plant them interspersed with spagetti trees surrounded by toilet paper trees which are fertilized with bird poop.
"we're pretty sure it's salmon though"
Every once in a while tv news runs a show about fake fish, or at least not the kind it's supposed to be.
I don't like snails either. I do like fresh caught Walleye pan fried or breaded and fried. Not big on most fish, King Crab legs, YES!
The Wynn buffet has good crab legs. Expensive so obviously I am reporting second hand.
Ummm hummm, sure
I have watched many Google reports, and I think I saw one person complaining every body else was expressing gratitude, trying to help or shell shocked. Or standing on roofs, insanely refusing to go.
Good Morning!
A few seafood buffets get good reviews in Laughlin NV. May try one or two on this trip.
Texas is starting to dry out and a shortage of builders and repairmen will flood the market leaving shortages around the country. Hope they are through with the Hurricanes for a long while.
I am trusting TripAdvisor reviews. Useful app.
And don't forget you can purchase real paint while you are in Bullhead City.
Lead based paint?
Texas is starting to dry out and a shortage of builders and repairmen will flood the market leaving shortages around the country.
Mexico wants to "help" with that...if only ICE would look the other way!!
Oil based leaded paint. It smells... like freedom!
How about ICE facilitates a legal and regulated guest worker program? Ask yourself why Mexico hasn't been pushing for this for decades.
..and then who is going to chase them down when they don't go back??
Once long ago, this did work.
Mexico needs illegal out-migration to survive at least in the short term. A social unrest safety valve. The last thing they want is workers with money, skills, and a taste of decent standards of living to bring those disruptive ideas back to Mexico where unrest is the inevitable consequence.
Liz, a blog note. Intellectual Kitteh is now Stalker Kitteh. But in a cute way.
Rob, can you add a button to go to the last comment when viewed on a mobile? Scolling via swipe gets old fast.
I could but instead wouldn't reverse order be even more effective?
Look at this mess down in Fountain Valley..
http://www.ocregister.com/2017/08/29/fountain-valley-residents-say-encroaching-homeless-encampment-needs-attention/
does reverse order mess with the comment box?
also reverse order means you are reading bottom to top for all the comments posted somce you last checked in.
Fountain Valley. There was a time when Orange County and Ventura County were hard to tell apart. Population, economy, etc. Then in the mid 60s to early 70s they diverged. Now they share little in common. Orange County is just a slightly better continuation of Los Angeles County.
I would use the approach: "If you give us the tent we will find you a place to sleep inside every night." "Do you need a bus ticket to get someplace with family/friends where you'd get better conditions?" "Can we make a deal where you give up cooking here in exchange for us providing meals?"
I will make a mobile view change that works. Not a big deal but I am rusty.
I can see the headlines now. Public funding allocated for sex offenders.
we've got an interesting thing going on up here..a local business owner (a few towns away) got frustrated with the fact he had a 100-strong "homeless" encampment (actually just an open air drug market) on th street infront of him. Lots of crime...rats (sanitation problem)..etc..so he bought a $500 camera (infrared +amazing quality) and mounted it on his buildings roof..pointed it down at the druggies and put the stream on a 24/7 live YouTube channel.
Local media went nuts if course ("how can you be so mean to these poor homeless people")..but you know.if you watch it for a while..you realize these people aren't "homeless"..they are all able bodied adults who have made a conscious lifestyle choice for themselves...to the detriment of the rest of society.
Anyways..the stream (Everett Tweakers HD) went viral (the comment section was hilarious)..and guess what..they're all gone now. Business owner is going to keep the stream going or they'll be right back he figures.
> Why the old channel got banned: It didn't actually get banned, but we lost our live streaming privileges. We had a video of a lady shooting up heroin which violated the terms of service apparently, so we got a strike. Rather than waiting for an appeal, we started a new channel.
More evidence of teh Googlag being evil.
I expect this ends well for us and bad for teh Googlag.
yeah..a couple interesting observations from watching (on & off) for a few weeks:
1) it's amazing how many enablers/supporters these encampments get. Several times a day people pull up with free food/drink/clothes/tents, etc..stacks of the stuff. They are located about 500 feet from a mission where they get three free meals provided every day..so most of the time they wouldn't even eat the food (usually in the form of pizzas)..thus the rat problem
2) there's this whole group of adults who ride those little BMX bikes (made for kids)..that zip around the area and service the group. We think they are the drug runners..
Fascinating stuff (from a sociological point of view)..check out "Timbo Kill's" channel when you get a chance for some amusing out-takes from the past month.
> adults who ride those little BMX bikes (made for kids)..that zip around the area and service the group. We think they are the drug runners.
I saw that within seconds of accessing the live feed. I immediately thought it unusual. T-shirt, no baggage and cruising right on past in a place that wouldn't be a bike path normally.
there was this one time ("Miracle on 26th St")...a guy in a wheel chair rolls up to a chained link fence...stands up...hops the fence (about 8 feet high)..climbs down the other side..disappears (probably to go relieve himself)..comes back..scales the fence again (easily)..gets back in the wheel chair and wheels away..hilarious

My favorite eclipse photo:

Speaking of fish I landed a whopper! Bad angle it really was an honest 10" He got bored quick so I threw him back. Cost of fishing is now down to $550 a piece. I am going to get rich doing this. :)
Eddy Murphy. "Trading Places." When it came out it was a cute story. Now it is prophetic.

God does not subtract from your time here when golfing or fishing. There are activities that add but that is a different matter.
I suggest you track down the old hilarious Prairie Home Companion stories about growing tomatoes.
He got bored quick so I threw him back.
fish gets home tonight.."Hi honey..how was your day??"
"Sucked..but could have been worse"
"Sucked..but could have been worse"
That is about the way fishing was going today till I caught this one just before I was going to quit. Kind of like golf a little tease to bring you back next time.
you mean the straight as an arrow 250 yard approach shot on 18 to within two feet of the cup to break 110 for the round?? I wouldn't know anything about that.. ;<)
ok off on a bike ride for me..gonna get back into the 90's up here next week..so may as well enjoy the cool for now.
Golf and fishing are identical at the metaphysical level.
Everyone is born with a "bucket" of bad swings/casts/strokes/trolls. You have to work through those to get to the great swings/casts/strokes/trolls inside everyone.
If it is any consolation it seems I will never have a back spin.
> you mean the straight as an arrow 250 yard approach shot on 18 to within two feet of the cup to break 110 for the round?? I wouldn't know anything about that.. ;<)
I am good for 230. I cannot ever get 230 when I try. I can often get 230 when I don't.
The best part of golf is driving the cart and guarding the beer cooler. I haven't played in years, Hands are to busted up and the shoulder would probably fall apart if I tried. Was fun back in the day.
It will be interesting if I can be lured into nine when I visit the birthplace of the sport next month.
My brother is near scratch. I am consistently +1 stroke per hole.
I like riding along in the golf cart and sympathizing with the hub. And sometimes getting off the cart and doing some walking. It is too hot to golf now.
Zen. You need some zen. A zen koan perhaps.
What happened to that cat's eye brow whiskers?
Stalker Kittehs have to suffer the consequences of of excess curiosity.
I am good for 230. I cannot ever get 230 when I try.
yeah 250 might have been a bit of an exaggeration (another similarity between golf and fishing!!)
My brother is near scratch. I am consistently +1 stroke per hole.
yeah if you can shoot high 80's/low 90's..the sport is fun and you can really play with anyone without messing up their day. Triple digits is no fun..and spending six hours on the course (which was happening more and more) to shoot triple digits was even less fun.
I don't miss it..
So it's OK to zoom the fish photo add 8" and 5 Lbs? :)
it will be interesting to see what they do with all the golf courses as Boomers continue to move along to the "great 19th hole in the sky". I don't really get a sense millennials are embracing the sport too much..
I have no prob with my ashes being plugged into a tiny 4" disc spot around the roots of a big tree. Wait. I also want a DNA sample preserved not for me but it might help future generations.
To clarify. On a golf course or along a jogging path or an authorized national park or similar.
lol..how would it help "future generations"??
Less likely to chop you down.k
Superior rich dna, no doubt.
Genomes to avoid for but the most obvious instance.
your dna has been preserved..they are called your kids.. lol
lol. A cheap gene perhaps.
My kids have been tremendously enhanced via their extraordinary maternal lineage.
But they have been diluted by your wife.
Haha
I have been approached by various organizations who want to preserve my dna..but I said.."nope..my dna stops here"
I'm putting an end to this madness!!
Good morning.😀 everybody
Wow it is early. No idea what woke me. Everyone remind me to take a nap. Tonight in the cheap seats we are seeing John Williams conduct the LA Phil with big screen clips of some of his movie scores.
Good Morning!
100 comments, looking good!
Cool.
Will you be my president?
I do agree he's picked on a bit, but he invites it. He claims ha saw Houston s devastation first hand. Actually, he was nearby, and talked to a lot of officials. That's nice, but not first hand.
Since he's not my predident, will you be my president?
When I get enough covefe in me I'll get out to the garden shed of spousal exile and publish the new post.
Have to do some market shuffling before that however. Hopefully that Ford stock purchase has finished screwing around in the basement.
I wouldn't generate the same controversy but likely the same amount. You would like my financial sector reforms no doubt. For instance Wells Fargo gone. Just gone. Give customers a few weeks to move accounts.
On a sad note the hurricane Harvey wiped out tons of cars. That will pump new car sales. On the other hand look out for flood cars hitting the market around the country. Scammers making a buck.
I wonder how Cinco is enjoying Barcelona.
With 1,000,000 cars destroyed, how could it not? We want a new roof with some light pipes an some sun panel, and couldn't get a contractor. Well before harvey. Not timing has gone to the 12th of never.
B of A???
You are too conservative for me, but not crazy, and not a liar.
Yep.
So there is not a gas crisis in Austin according to all of the talking heads, only you can't buy gas right now because all the pumps are empty. It's apparently being caused by a "bank run" on gas in the city. Everyone thinks we are running out of gas so they go fill up. Everyone filling up has emptied the gas stations.
Luckily Austin runs on green energy so there will be minimal impact.. ;<)
How did Austin turn out so unlike Texas?
too much Kale in the diet..
looks like they'll have to ride their bikes to their yoga classes instead of driving this weekend..(just kidding with ya Ruby)
state capitol + big university towns usually skew left
..and if you can ignore the politics..usually great towns to live in
New post.
college town, musicians, and cali expats. All left leaning forces. Austin is reliably Dem voting, don't try to take our guns tho.
