The Dawghaus Gets an Upgrade
The 22yo floor was getting tired and i had some left over from the big project so I did this. Yes, there is some trim work to finish. Seems that happens with every project
Engineered hardwood is plywood planking designed to be stable and not warp or expand much. The feature is primarily that no crap layers are used to lower costs. These come prefinished.
If you are ever at Monck's Corner, which you won't be, eat at Giligan's. It's almost impossible to find with boats and alligators going back and forth on a wide screen.
Hard to surprise Mrs Dawg. As in nothing outrageous I do surprises her. She asked about an eclipse viewer so I made one in about 3 minutes. She was "Did you look it up?" I said "No, I made one for the last eclipse." "The last one?" "Yeah, something like 1970." She looked at me strange. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_eclipse_of_March_7,_1970
Thin high clouds where really not a problem here. What a neat experience to see and even the crickets chimed in when the solar landscape lights came on. The black out and Corona where real cool. We had still cameras and video going and to my surprise the best one was not the old expensive Go Pro but a cheapo sharper Image camera did the best. Here is the video, no sound as shot, so buzz through it.
That sucks I am sure you guys are really disappointed. We went to Denny's and had all you can eat moon cakes for $4 which is really their cheapo menu price but it was fun. :(
We had 98% eclipse in Charlotte NC area. Not that impressive IMO - not really dark, but temps did cool some. The shadows that formed were the really unusual thing - lots of shadow contrast and the shadows were very defined. A repair guy from Rock Hill SC showed up in the late morning and said traffic going into SC from Charlotte was the worst he'd ever seen.
I'm sure the full eclipse would have been pretty though.
Looks like it's almost there again. I don't think the big drop is going to be soon or big. The new bottom will be higher over the long haul. Then again my poorfolio sucks! LOL!
We had a lot of people here saw some NY NJ and other surrounding states plates but not a barn buster the media and tourist traps where selling. When your have counties with a few thousand people it doesn't take much to overwhelm them. Anyway I'm sure a few made some extra money.

You'll get a picture of my bathrooms, if we ever get a contractor. Martin did the half bath.
I'm floored! Nice, when we replace the carpet on the main floor I will push for wood.
You might notice the single missing baseboard. I'm sure your sweetie never leaves a project 96% complete.
It is engineered hardwood. I waterproofed and used waterproof wood glue. Turned out great. It has a great "foot feel" neither warm nor cold/hard.
What is engineered hardwood? the house I get up in was oak. Real oak on first floor.

Happy eclipse day!!
Good Morning!
Heavy fog all acrossed the valley and high clouds predicted for today. :(
Great Wall announced interest in buying Fiat Chrysler. Hope This doesn't happen.
I was at that one. With hub and daughter about one. She cried until the sun turned off.
I'm at Moncks Corner. Clouds there??
News: all eclipse, no Trump.
Could've sworn we had one in the early 90s
We did have one in the 90's, I was in grade school and we all poked holes in boxes to go out and see it.
My buddy is texting me from the Iregon landfall.
Fog gone, high scattered clouds! :)
Iregon, Uregon... Was that a Keynes quote?
Is everyone out watching the eclipse?
In and out of air conditioning. 15% gone.
Clouds, thunder. Yech. Sads.
Very dark thunder cloud. That's it.
took a couple pics of the sun with my phone. The lens flare was in the shape of the eclipse.
I took a kinda decent shot with my phone through cloud cover and my clip on shades. Better than a lot I've seen so far...

kind of disappointing up here..we supposedly got 92% coverage..but it just felt to me like when a cloud goes over the sun on an otherwise clear day
Storm clouds covered everything. Hotel and restaurant people seemed very appreciative of all the visitors

Liz,
Bummer that you missed it, but maybe that's a good excuse for another trip somewhere out of the country for the next time.
Thx
Where is everybody?
Sorry, I didn't want to bother the blog with something as trivial as a complete OS meltdown. Seems okay now.
Anyway April 20, 2023 in the Roswell, NM, Carlsbad Caverns area. Be there.

Awwwwwww
Agree
The 8 hour drive--or being driven, was very tiring. Still tired today. Last night felt like I was swaying on a gentle sea.
The great eclipse to it paper hoax was a hoax. Bring supplies! They will run out of toilet paper! Bring snacks! All nonsense.

Hey Dawg, dogs bed themselves to have a friendlINess gene.
What are futes today after the Trump rally last night?

Many red velvet funnel cakes were sold. RESTANURANTS were fullish, Hotel clerks looked happy.
Markets are just screwy. All they need is an excuse to make it go up or down.
There is no normal, especially with the stock msrket.
