Twofaced Napolitano

The University of California filed a lawsuit Friday against the Trump administration charging that the federal government’s efforts to sidetrack an anti-deportation program for young immigrants who were brought to the United States illegally unconstitutionally violates the rights of the university and its students.

SacBee breaking story.

“Neither I, nor the University of California, take the step of suing the federal government lightly, especially not the very agency that I led,” said UC President Janet Napolitano, former President Barack Obama’s Homeland Security director for four years.

Press conference on the hurricane today (FEMA guy)..reporter asked a DACA question...the ridiculousness has reached epic proportions

Rob Dawg said...

Pruitt yesterday at a hurricane emergency presser was asked about climate change. He turned the question away saying this was not the time for that discussion. CNN story resulting from that exchange? Pruitt is a denier. Who is watching the watchers?

I used to be 50/50 on the Dreamers/DACA thing (i.e. could argue both sides of the issue)..not any more after seeing the tactics of the left on this..and all of their other..pet issues

100% now they have to leave imo..

Camel's nose in the tent. Attractive nuisance to draw more illegals. Rule of law. There just isn't a place that allows them to retain these special privileges has doesn't cause more harm than good.

Reagan did an amnesty in '86..now we have 30 million new illegals in the country. No more until we fix the borders..mandate E-verify..tighten up the visa programs/systems etc etc

My wife hates the dims, and tells me she doesn't remember it being this bad...I tell her they've always been this bad.

Unknown said...

the dims have always been annoying..but I've definitely noticed a new "scorched earth" mentality amongst them since Trump was elected.

oh well..time to fight fire with fire

I'm interested in a progress report from the voting fraud commission. California's reaction to giving up any voter data already confirms my suspicions. I say just have NSA extract the data we need from their systems and bump it up against e-verify..

The evidence is becoming overwhelming. The driver's license transfers to other states alone should invalidate 10% of the results.

we really need the lame ass Cal republican party (if it even still exists) to file a class action lawsuit though. Feds have limited powers over voting rights.

Class action lawsuit demanding full discovery over voting records...

Should start raining here in about half an hour.

So glad Cubans can stay if they get here. They are just part of the landscape. All the resentment has mostly gone away.

I hope my house is still there. Think it will be. One wrecked house is enough for a lifetime.

Leaves in Gainesville only wiggling back and forth gently. Unitarian fellow parishioner has instituted a post check in system for her acquaintances and friends. In Miami and parts everywhere.

My mom is saying goodby to all her stuff and trailer homes. My brother is with her and they have a CAT5 "safe" location.

Interesting the things people forget. Told my brother to find a neighbor with a land line as cel service sucks at the best of times. Lightbulb moment. Then I told him to buy a case or more of spray paint. Again he asks why. Duh no street signs or mailboxes or addresses. And don't forget the crumpled trailers needing "Empty" and "we are okay and phone number."

My bro and SIL live in Alva near Fort Myers. Their brick house is at 15 foot elevation. Yesterday before Irma moved westward they said they were staying but had plenty of preparation to do. They have a generator and have been through several hurricanes before.

Real rain is an out to start here. And the hub insists on running int I CVS for one last thing. I am getting nervous. He's turning into Sheldon!

I think my house will survive. Where are all of you?

Unknown said...

Not sure where everyone else is but I'm here watching college football (Ohio State vs Oklahoma) and keeping an eye on the storm. Seems to be spinning in place off of Cuba right now..the forecast says it's going up the west coast of FLA..which would be horrible..hope they are spared.

Great to here your house is safe Liz..when are you planning on going home??

Good Morning!

Meritor Wabco ABS systems are unsafe when a wheel speed sensor fails. Angry!

There isn't a bypass button?

Wednesday. The track has changed to be more close to the middle of the state. Hub sez getting up to gale force 45 mh. We are sitting on a front porch of the hotel somewhat sheltered by the rain and wind. Nice to be outside. On tv it's all weather all the time.. and football. Well better than all Trump all the time. A couple of people are leaving.some are arriving. There is a flood warning for Gainesville but we are on a hill.

Lawyerliz said...

What's that?

Rob Dawg said...

Antilock braking systems are usually a very good thing especially for drivers unused to unusual conditions but when they aren't working properly they provide negative feedback that makes things worse. I've never seen one that could not be turned off.

The Hall Effect sensors are notorious for being a weak spot in the system.

Looks like a direct hit on Naples coming. Those folks who run the European model had the path nailed for almost a week now..pretty impressive

The European model is impressive.

Did you read my link to Hurricane Donna above? I was just a kid in the late 60s but the devastation was still there to see.

Video conferenced my mom 90 minutes ago in Englewood, FL. Buttoned down tight.

Unknown said...

yeah..incredible stories from Donna..

the most impressive thing to me from the live feeds of Irma are how the palm trees hold on their fronds (while remaining upright) in 100+ mph gusts. We need to figure out a way to make entire buildings that strong.. ;<)

Rob Dawg said...

Funny you should mention. I have way too many palms on my slovenly dawgpound. Constantly trimming fronds both live and dead. I've long noticed the desireable structural properties. I've been preparing test samples to see if there is a hobby or perhaps even commercial application. Lightweight, stiff, directional, easily worked, cheaper than free.
