If You Build it They Will Pay

I'm not sure and don't see any need to invade privacy to find out but this "compound" pretty much speaks to what the owner might have done to earn their millions. Something like 9 months on market. Redfin has a listing. Talk about a Toyland. Just look at the Toy Barn. And that wasn't enough so they have an extra enclosure right beside.

Camarillo, CA 93012 Price: $3,599,000 BEDS: 6 BATHS: 7
SQ. FT.: 6,400 $/SQ. FT.: $562 LOT SIZE: 11.23 Acres

anybody with $3.6m to spend is not going to want somebody else's idea of a Dallas meets Tara.

Is that a metal outbuilding behind the blue plastic tarp?

Yup. Go to the Redfin listing for more pics of somebody with more money than taste.

Owner would be the first NASCAR person in camtown.

The architecture reminds me of my 1-story ranch house, but mine has brick veneer instead of clapboard. Looks out of place in the desert.

I'm guessing they're counting the toy barn in the 6,000 square feet they list? No way the house is that big. Wonder what the neighbors think of the metal outbuilding and baseball field?

Trust me the "big house" is 6000 sf. Look at the picture and do some quick math.

The neighborhood is Hacienda and Tuscan and Modern. This Midwest lottery winner style screams lower class uppity.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying this, just channeling what potential $3.6m buyers will think.

UH OH ROB!

I am pretty sure this is the house that the Mom was murdered in while trying to protect her children from a home invader. Remember like 3 years ago there was a guy who murdered a couple he new in Thousand Oaks (or maybe just the wife I can't remember). He then fled in his pick-up and the police could not find him over night. He went over the hills during the night and came out on the Santa Rosa road area. The man who owns this house had just gone to work and his wife was home with like 2 of their ~5 children. The murderer came in and attacked her son and the Mom tried to stop him and was killed in front of her children.

I was with a customer that day on Honey Hill Rd just past this home. We heard the gun shots but did not think anything of it. When I left the ranch there was a policeman shot and laying on the ground at the gated entrance to this private community. Help had just arrived. Anyway the father had bought this home and built the field to play ball with his kids. Very sad story. I always wondered if they would sell it. I am pretty sure this is that home.

w,
You are correct! There was something about the property that caught my attention. That must have been it.

This story really stuck in my head. It was the all American Family where everything had gone right and this happened to them. So sad.
