FoxNews:
ConocoPhillips, BP America and Caterpillar pulled out of a leading alliance of businesses and environmental groups pushing for climate change legislation on Tuesday, citing complaints that the bills under consideration are unfair to American industry.

Why did they join in the first place?
^^^ two reasons:
(1) The Godfather principle -- keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.
(2) they thought they could make money out of it -- see Harpers (not available online).
Lex beat me to it. They thought they could clean up with cap and trade.

Another winner! Can't wait to see the redhead... :-)
January sighting. She is the official EN woman, right?.
there's a nice dovetailing of that photo and the line "the sudden pullout of three giants".
If big business leaps from the Dems plans and the american people are abandoning them, who is left?
