Why the US is in Decline

Hot Wheels loses Ferrari diecast contract to Chinese company

Doubly sad as Ferrari is reported to be considering corporate relocation as part of the planned IPO next spring.   Probably true given the vociferous denials.

Maybe they relocate to the UK for tax purposes like Walter P did.

It's going to get better as the currency wars continue. The dollar is on a tear, and it's hard to see how any manufacturing is left here after this cycle.

I think China uses us as a way to dispose of toxins hidden in their underbid products.

I get rumblings that India is starting to crank up their capacity. New canals for bigger cargo ships cheap fuel what could go wrong?

It's been a long time since we've been a viable low cost manufacturer. The real problem we have is that we're no longer manufacturing the stuff we're good at, i.e. high value added manufacturing.

If it fits in a TEU you can be sure it is going to outsource in short order.

We really screwed up in letting the technology and expertise move with the manufacturing.

"Isn't it neat? The company is sending me to India for 3 weeks to train the engineers there!"

The new Volvo is coming from China. A Geely disguised as a stretched S60.
