Remember this Exurban Nation post from 2009?
Let's see how things turned out.
First in the comments it was discussed:

That place isn't worth the 2000 price.
Where do you think this one could eventually go, Rob? [Not talking the next sale, mind you, but bottom price.] I'd venture 50ish, but you're the Wrightwood expert.
Rob Dawg said...
Hard to tell. It may sell now for $64k and rent out until used up (not long) and as such won't transact at the low. That said $45-$50k sound right.

"The Woods Don't Talk..Part 3"
Zillow has always been off the rails here.
Wait. Did it actually sell? In-between then and the latest estimate? Here that would get you something moderately nice.
My son's new houses zesrimate is less than what he paid for it and less than what the appraisal came in for. The sales price was exactly the estimate at the time and he got it for 3k less. Weird.
Anybody care about Gorsuch's minor plagerism?
Isn't most lawmaking a process of plagiarism and embellishment anyway?
By request. Liz, I just walked around the house and just uploaded the entire roll as a post and backdated it so it appears here:

Dow up a lot. Caterpillar really up. Hmmmmm
Caterpillar makes stuff that builds walls.
http://theweek.com/articles/689554/dark-side-cities
American society became far more unequal, centralized, and extractive. The national shortage of jobs became a chronic problem, pushing down workers' wages and sending the money off to circulate endlessly and uselessly in Wall Streets' financial markets.
Strong walls make for good neighbors!!
I'd be good with a strand of dental floss and signs in English that read; "Beware the Lasers" in 6pt type. Oh, and the lasers.
I love Trump's negotiating style..
"We're going to build the wall..and mexico's going to pay for it!!"
Mexico freaks out..
Later.."ok..we'll just build the wall.."
Mexico "I guess that will be ok.."
You can bend it some more and say free services illegals consume paid by the taxpayer no longer needed will pay for the wall. LOL!
How much are we collecting (per vehicle/per person) at all the entrance points?? Doubling that would be a good start..
If I were a betting woman, I'd bet the wall would never be built.
Applying the "know your customer" rules that banks have to abide by to Western Union and the other money order/transfer businesses would bring Mexico to the negotiating table quickly..
Forget Florida man.
Parolee Steals Vehicle In Ventura, Crashes Into Police Station Fence, Flees On Foot And Is Hit By Car On 101
KVTA News Tuesday April 4, 2017
Update--Ventura police say a parolee who had just been released from jail stole a vehicle and then crashed it into the perimeter fence at Ventura police headquarters and was struck by a car while trying to flee on foot across the 101 Freeway.
He's now nursing a broken leg at VCMC and is under arrest again.
He's now nursing a broken leg at VCMC and is under arrest again.
has ICE been notified?? oh yeah..it's California
Enough of the wall will be built to declare victory and the rest will be locked down with tech.
Maybe. I don't think he wanted To leave jail.
"The wall" is literal, figurative..and yes..even a bit existential...
Maybe "The Who" can rework the words to "another brick in the wall."
Wee don't need no immigration
We don't need no border control
Hey!
Trump, put another brick on the wall...
Excellent Dawgster!
I love blue roses. But I usually
Kill them.
Belinda pink usually😘 takes all kinds of abuse.
Maybe "The Who" can rework the words to "another brick in the wall."
well ok..but they better call the guys over at Pink Floyd first to get permission.. ;<)
Ummm.... Are you forgetting the cover of "Who's Next?" [pissing on a concrete wall in the middle of nowhere]
Yes, I admit to deliberately trolling for your reply. But come on. the payoff was worth it right? and thanks.
working on the opening to Marshall Tucker's "Can't You See" this afternoon on my guitar..deceptively difficult to get sounding good..then again..everything is deceptively difficult for me on the guitar... :)
yeah..I had a feeling I was being set-up...couldn't not take the bait though
Anybody care about Gorsuch's minor plagerism?
I've been around really brilliant people all my life. Mostly science. I've yet to encounter one who wasn't open to better ideas and willing to say "I am so stealing that" if it came up. Thing is these people are sponges 24/7. Judge G might have read the passages and instantly incorporated them into his position. If this type of thing becomes an issue then we are guaranteed lowest common denominator drudges who sacrifice results for proper process.
I've read the sentences. The include many words that do not come tripping ly off the tongue. I'd be more worried about obscurantism and needlessly difficult writing.
People like me will have to read his stuff.
wow..the major stock indexes ended up down today?? what a roller-coaster ride
"ended down"
let me guess..CNN is all over the Gorsuch thing...but no mention of Susan Rice..
I wonder if Senator Al Franken would like if his history of stealing other comedian's jokes were researched as completely.
Forget Florida man.
Motorcyclist Critically Hurt After Failed Simi Stunt
KVTA News Sunday April 2, 2017
Simi Valley police say a motorcyclist was critically injured Sunday afternoon performing an off road stunt in that city.
It happened around 3 PM in the 500 block of west Los Angeles Avenue.
Police say the 24-year-old San Clemente man had heard through social media about a "jump site" in Simi Valley and came there to perform the stunt.
They say he brought friends along to record it.
The stunt involved jumping an expanse across railroad tracks.
Police say the motorcyclist was critically injured while doing the stunt and is listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
Police say they were not made aware in advance of the motorcyclist's plans and only found out after the incident.
Steve Bannon looks like a frog.
Sounds like Darwin man.
It's ok to steal jokes, as long as they are funny.
Hey lbd, 3 times to come in free to go out!!!
that was almost like Haiku Liz..very good!!
Are you forgetting the cover of "Who's Next?
that was one of the first albums I ever owned..and to show you how naive I was ..I had no clue what was going on in that picture until years later when someone else pointed it out.. :<o
Okay. I've gotten my 3rd "spring black friday" sales event. Quick, turn up the voltage on the frog legs. They aren't twitching like they used to.
I was brutally efficient at Costco today..in the door at 10:05 (just after the opening rush)..out by 10:20...won't need to go back for probably six weeks I would guess...nailed it!!
Amateur! Executive membership and know they even open 10mins earlier than that official opening. Dude, if you want the Kirkland smoked salmon and a new pair of "court classic" sneakers in your size it pays to play all the angles.
About that last. Back in the mid 80s Price Club (now Costco, a story in itself) had "Rod Laver" sneakers for IIRC ~$12.99. A good friend bought a dozen. Say What? Well a new pair every 16-18 months in the right size without shopping for a generation. Not to mention the yard sneakers older pair and the tar and concrete third back up reserve pair. Brilliant. Adjusted for inflation these new versions are something less than $4 a pair. Rich people, and come on, you knew from the story that he'd end up rich, don't think like "normal" people.
c'mon man..six weeks of Costco supplies in 15 minutes..give me my props!!
hee hee hee..
I am truly sorry. I meant it in jest. Like "I can top that bragging with bigger bragging." Yes, and if you used the awesome two 1.75l coupon for a gin and a vodka even better. I was only being conversational. Props.
and of course I was just joking..
have you noticed they've backed off on the frequency of their mailers (monthly specials)..and they aren't monthly specials any more..more like three weeks long..
so. they have almost as much time when no specials are in effect as when there are..
An electronic wall could work...
Too bad he couldn't steal their timing and delivery too...
Wow...A lot of posts today
I've been thinking either the first of 120 comments on a post or daily is a manageable pace.
Check out the "Photo Gallery" post. You might recognize some of the plants except now with flowers.
have you noticed they've backed off on the frequency of their mailers (monthly specials)..and they aren't monthly specials any more..more like three weeks long..
Only now that you mention it but yes. I suspect there is an invisible inflation squeeze that hasn't shown up in the government reporting yet.
Only now that you mention it but yes
I heard the CEO comment on it about a month ago. They're trying to be less "promotional"..move more to an "everyday low price" model. So the mailings will be more spaced apart..and for shorter duration.
Too bad he couldn't steal their timing and delivery too...
ironically..if I were to guess who the least funny guy in the Senate is (on an informal day-to-day basis)..he would be one of my first choices. Serious bug-up-the-youknowwhat syndrome..
The Mr Price model worked so well for so long the new management doesn't understand the need to evolve. Doing the same thing better won't last.
I'm never been in Costco,. Tho I go by it 2 or 3 times a week. Am I missing something? I've only been in Ikea once or twice. It made me dizzy and distressed. The fit and finish of stuff was quite bad.
On antiques Roadshow I've noticed that the people are dressed unworthily of their treasures, even if they are fakes. I'm tired of nobody dressing up. They know there at least a slight chance of being on tv., But still.
Is there anything at Costco that I'd enjoy wearing? Or buying, other than cheap toilet paper?
You won't believe this. Mrs Dawg is running late and just texted she is bringing home Costco pizza for dinner.
it will be interesting to see how they do internationally. I would think the model would translate well...but you never know...
Serious bug-up-the-youknowwhat syndrome..
There is an old and racist joke that is too old and far too racist to repeat but in his case the excessive case of self impotence makes it near impossible. Near.
Costco..hard to describe. Yes.. cheap tp (nothing wrong with that)...but their meats and produce are very good also (high quality..good price)...a lot of people like it because there is a "treasure hunt" aspect to it. So 2/3 of the items are always available..and then they rotate the other 1/3 with various deals they get.
Always great quality..no questions asked returns...huge quantities (which isn't always a good thing if you have limited storage)..
I kind of have a love/hate relationship with it (crowds, slow checkout, etc)..but would seriously miss it if I ever moved somewhere without one..
Is there anything at Costco that I'd enjoy wearing? Or buying, other than cheap toilet paper?
Best rated many things. and it isn't bushels of snow peas anymore. Just guessing here but you might like.
The prepackaged chicken salad. Tasty, healthy, serves two twice.
All the staples you remember from peanut butter to rice. Not so large it goes to waste.
Great healthy snacks. Jars of nuts, and such.
Cannot recommend them for tires.
Consumable wearables. Sweatshirt, socks, towels.
Give it a try when it isn't crowded.
Everything Mike said.
Er, I confess I know that joke.
The hub over pizza-ed me a while ago. Pizza from anywhere. I am quickly becoming over Thai-ed also. Even over- Mexicaned. We had some cajun spiced catfish from Publix for dinner which was pretty good. Fried in butter and olive oil.
He is watching Ted talks on photographing black holes, followed by gravity waves whereupon I left.
We need Ted talks on how to really persuade people to be good and not blow up the world, since religion clearly doesn't work. Does anything?
Is it my imagination that T is looking like a very unhappy sourpuss more and more as the days go on?
Is it my imagination that T is looking like a very unhappy sourpuss more and more as the days go on?
it's a tough job..arguably the most difficult one in the world. He seems most happy when he's meeting business groups and labor groups and what-not...working on economic issues. I think he genuinely cares about getting the economic engine re-fired again in this country.
otoh..trying to "herd" Congress can't be fun..especially for a guy coming from the private sector. Internationally, time will tell what kind of "statesman" he is...he might surprise people.
More odd facts.
Dancing makes the white part of your brain grow, whereas walking and stretching doesn't, but they All make You sharper.
Purring makes you happier. It's just not dogs.
I don't need any sweat shirts or tshirts or socks.
I like stores with not too much but well chosen clothing. You do better buying really expensive well made furniture.
Kirklands has the best cashews. No Costco here but we do buy over the counter drugs and vitamins on line when we run low. Visit a store when in Denver. LL check and see if they do a guest pass to check it out. I think you might like it.
Nice flower pics. Nothing like SoCal for a variety. To much work for me and my wife is tired of weeding so it looks like tall grass for a lot of the landscaping and some container flower garden coming.
yeah..I have yet to be disappointed with any of their Kirkland brand items...
Wasn't funny on SNL either
Rumor is that the Kirkland tequila is Patron Silver. Excellent cheeses as well.
Best build the wall proposal so far. Use the high level nuclear waste as construction material.
ROTFLMAO!

Good morning.😀☕☕🍵🍝🍝
Wake up east coasters!
I don't remember any other president having so many new appointments being kicked out of their jobs so quickly. Have lower level jobs been filled at all?
I continue to have mixed feelings about Gorsuch. I'd much prefer the previous guy, but think all this meanness has got to stop.
And what so great about the filibuster anyway.
Great up at 5:30 to push the baby bird out of the nest only to find school starts late today. Good early morning all.
A must read from Wolf St on Miami condos.
http://wolfstreet.com/2017/04/03/hidden-crashing-prices-of-miami-condo-bubble-glut/
up early here too...might turn on the filibuster so I can fall back asleep again....hee hee
The turnover in staff is higher than if a party insider had won but let's look at some factors. Campaign staff are not always good matches for WH staff positions. Professional bureaucrats won't work for him or for any outsider or because it is career suicide. Many outsiders cannot work because it would be possible to disentangle their interests. Or they know they cannot survive press scrutiny. Or they don't like Trump. You can see that for many reasons Trump has to pull from a much narrower pool and extreme vet them. Much harder to get a best fit. Add to that Trump is reorganizing which means lost/moved positions.
The only thing unusual is a press cheering on and over blowing the transition issues.
Good Morning!
Trump isn't a normal politician.
High voltage electric fence would be a cheap start and go from there. A good solar project as well. :)
re: Miami condos. Interesting article..the HOA finances have to be a mess in those places...i.e. lots of absentee owners, foreclosures etc..
wouldn't touch them with the proverbial "ten foot pole"
NPR surprised me interviewing a D Senator. They asked why if Harry Reid created the nuclear option and used it why is it wrong now for McConnell to use it in exactly the same fashion? She deflected but NPR kept after the question. Good job.
Dr Evil. [airquotes] "lasers".
You have to wonder about recurring costs and taxes on those things. I bet a resale price doubling doesn't recover your entire investment.
They just barely got rid of all the empty info rower units she prices went up and they started all over again. Why do banks finance these things. Why are Bank officers particularly resistant too learning?
Posesta's stock position should be the top story. Obviously illegal. Easy to understand. Not in the administration so no protective cover. No need to resort to clandestine sources.
That it barely gets any coverage is telling.
Headline tomorrow...
NPR reporter fired for "inappropriate line of questioning".... hee hee
Why do banks finance these things
the article suggested it was primarily foreign money...and not particularly "clean" foreign money at that..
NPR reporter suddenly a new Fox news contributor. LOL!
I'm glad I restarted the blog. Where are Outsider and Josap?
the local news was making a big stink about that silly Pepsi video (with the Jenner kid) last night. I think the left has finally, and completely, lost their minds..
Empty condo towers. Sheesh.
Empty condo towers.
half-way thru the article I actually went back and checked the date on the top...because I was sure Rob had made a mistake and linked something from 2010..
Well in your defense the title of this thread is "Set the Wayback to 2009." It's actually funny. I noticed a blip in one time visits two months back just when I started reposting. Someone reddit under financial independence mentioned how in the last bubble years ago he was here at least every day and then he closed with "holy shit! He's posting again!" Struth. For a long time there wasn't anything worth following. Now we have a whole new bunch of mistakes piling up. In particular inventories. Of absolutely everything. More in that later today.
It's happened before!
Dirty money vanishes. Yay.
Or my. How does it feel to be a bad omen?
Oh my. How does it feel to be a bad omen?
Nunez is stepping down on the Russia thing. Before they get sworn in they should have to pass an ethics test. Then they can't say they didn't know.
good..get that distraction out of the way..now we can get to the bottom of Clinton's ties to Russia..
Before they get sworn in they should have to pass an ethics test. Then they can't say they didn't know.
She did and HRC also signed knowing that intent was not a defense when mishandling classified information.
I think Nunes is setting a trap and freeing himself to comment on the subject.
Mudfilled has turned nasty. They feel the jaws closing.
New post on inventory.
