Cars cars cars

One of the three major auto processing facilities in Port Hueneme, CA. Not only are they all full, they've leased additional space for overflow. Automobile prices are headed down.

I'm planning to take advantage of dealers' desperation, and buy a 2009 Bentley Azure with no money down and $20,000 cash back at close for future repairs.

As usual, I'll promptly default and run away with the money and the car. I've earned it!!

I remember a few years back when there were photos posted of hundreds of unsold Hummers the dealers were trying to keep hidden.

The bad news...being parked in stall D5.

I'm buying a house this year, after waiting for prices to go down. I need a new car this summer/fall, after prices go down. Luckily I drive my cars into the ground and plan on living in my house for 5+ years.

They'll crush 'em before lowering to the clearing price.

What Edgar said. There is a floor they won't go below--we've already seen it when the incentives on big SUVs topped out this summer when gas was $5 a gallon. They'll just idle the factories and pretend everything is OK.

There isn't the same type of floor in the used market (even though some dealers pretend that there is). If/when I have some play money, I wouldn't mind picking up a used 2005-06 GTO as a weekend vehicle. They're already dirt cheap.

I used to like to fight sometimes, and going into a bar and claiming John Wayne was a fudge packer was one of my favorite ways of getting some exercise.

'...“Cash for Clunkers” program would reimburse drivers with a credit of $2,500 to $4,500 for drivers who turn in fuel-inefficient vehicles to be scrapped, and purchase a more fuel efficient vehicle.'

In case anyone missed it, we tax payers are now being asked to bail out anyone who bought an F150.

Don't be silly spas, not many people who would take $2000 on a trade can afford a new car. Fewer still F-150 drivers are interested in a Prius.

Cool. I'll go buy an old junker for $500, then turn it in for the credit.

Ding! ding! ding!

We have a winner.

Does that mean we are doing away with the 50% Bonus Depreciation on large luxury vehicles, or can we still take advantage of that?

I think I already know the answer - anything to stimulate the sales and the economy! ;)

Yes, you can try to pry my F-150 from me. I actually enjoy getting 14 mpg and passing Priuses with my foot in the gas :)
