Horrors On The White House Grounds
Washington D.C. - In front of dozens of children President Donald Trump proceeded to bite the head off of a bunny and spout extremist platitudes and play to his religious zealot supports. Breaking with tradition of an Easter egg hunt on the east lawn for the under privileged, this year's attendees had an average net worth of several millions of dollars. As the unwitting dupes of this heinous publicity stunt searched for Scotch mallows and other similarly racist and religiously insensitive treats an unnamed member of the reporting pool observed that the event was in keeping with Trump's oft mentioned desire to have people work for benefits.
And in case I appear to harsh, the news cycle this morning is reporting that Trump's airbase attack is a failure because aircraft are taking off again. One went to far as to suggest it is alright for Assad to bomb his people, just not gas them.

I this the bomb ok , gas not is actually our policy, and has been at least since WWI. Maybe because it is uglier? dunno, doesn't make sense.
Too bad planes can take off. Media suggesting we should bomb more.? Make more holes in tarmac?
Tomahawk replacements will cost more and they will want twice as many, so as not to run out.
I'm good with making a point and letting the other shoe remain a question mark. Uncertainty is a great asset.
Fine lines and opinions all over the place. None of any of it is acceptable but as long as there are bad actors then the insanity of war will exist. Sadly I think T is on the right track, O was a disaster. IMO
O will be known as the recession President. Fair? Not entirely but not undeserved. Strangely he may not be remembered for being the only war president from start to finish.
Syria's finances must be getting a bit shaky by now. Ten (??) years of war...and I don't think they have much oil..
I thought O did a decent job in his first term (he really did inherit a wreck of an economy). It was when he decided to go all "SJW in -chief" during his second term that I lost a lot of respect for him..
but without him..we wouldn't have Trump...so cheers to you Obummer.
off to breakfast and errands..have a great day everyone!!
Pushing Ocare while the economy was suffering put his agenda before the nations needs. Wrong.
I know people who can see because og O care.
Chopping more aND in new places. WhicH have fire ants. Ouch. Bendy and baking soda helped. Yoy really like his tax plan?
You think money to rich people actually trickles down?
My two cents is Syria is about pipe lines, nat gas and Russia wants to keep control of Europe's nat gas. Qatar wants a pipe line to Europe for their nat gas. IMO
Yes but YOU have to get off your ass and get it.
It started with a drought.
We'd want to, if in their place . Plz explain more claerLY. Russia gas pipe line through Syria?
Get the rich people's money? How?
$60 million dollars in missles, could have been better spent on humanitarian aid. Bombing military buildings and not the aircraft runways is worse than doing nothing.
It will probably improve Trump's terrible ratings though, so maybe it was worth it to him at least,
H well, more strikes on same town bt Russians or Syrians. Surprise. SUR prise.
Agreed. I said that yesterday.
A nothing burger to Dow and 10 year.
Markets and D.C. Are not really watching the same movie.
Lots of standing water here in the Central Valley.
LL no simple answer except the path you take in life and how hard you work it. What do you call rich?
Russia want's to block more pipe lines in Syria to end up supplying more nat gas to Europe. What better way then to keep Assad in power. IMO
I'd call me rich, but T sure wouldn't.
Money does make people happier until they reach 70 or 80 of assests. Not very much.
RicH would be hang a maid come one or twice a week, and a gardener, not a lawn guy for a few hours twice a week. It has become very hard for me to lug bags of dirt a sound Neither of them would be required to tug their forelock. I have most all the goodies I need, and could buy most any thing else. True, there an Old Master or 2 I'd like, but that's not reasonable.
That's awfully sneaky.
Dirt! I'd like a truck load of real rich dirt to spread around the front and back garden. And some rocks. Decorative rocks. Big ones.
Rich is when you transition beyond being owned by things.
Assad refused permission for the gas line to go through Syria. Thus, war.
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-09-10/competing-gas-pipelines-are-fueling-syrian-war-migrant-crisis
I dont m understand won't rhat mean war with Russia not us?
The cat, who escaped again and the.turtle are enjoying a grass snack and communing.
Wouldn't he make more money if there are more pipelines?
Walt Tucker,
Bombed runways are very easy and cheap to repair. Bring in a few bulldozers and matting. Probably take less than 24 hours.
Here's the latest update from yesterday on Oroville spillway from Juan Browne:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAY-4-NeB18
In my opinion Browne (aka blancolirio on youtube) has the most accurate info on this.
Bottom line, DWR says they are going to rebuild the spillway by November, the start of the next rainy season. He says we have 9 months for the rebuild--however from my calendar says we have about 6 1/2 months.
Whats a couple months between friends?
Thanks, Prairiedog. That is the only thing that makes sense to me and why O ran when Putin barked. T made a limited strike for a statement on different levels and I don't think he will press on unless Assad is real stupid, which I don't think he is. IMO
EJ, I watch for him on Youtube everyday seems to be on target and easy to understand.
The rainy season starts October but water management means the spillway won't be needed until Feb if at all.
Blue Jays and Red Sox will spend all summer making each other better. First and Wild Card next fall.
Gotta think the tomahawk is outdated, Reagan Era technology, and I'm sure any replacement is substantially more expensive. OTOH, as Rob observed, firing then at Assad's forces may be less expensive than decommissioning them...
Pretty sure Nixon was too...I don't think Vietnam ended until Ford was in office
Try sprinkling corn meal on the fire ant hills
For much of my life, the Russians WERE the Chess Masters
Wouldn't do a whole lot of good. Torrential downpours in the Summer would wash it through the sandy soil in 2-3 years
I like Tampa Bay in the East..that division is loaded

So we attacked a military base, damaged some building and maybe a few aircraft. Damage was so minimal that bombers used the runways today and killed some more people. (More poison gas?) We wasted 60 million dollars on almost nothing.
Liz is right. Providing humanitarian aid sends a stronger statement.
damaged some building and maybe a few aircraft.
I'm guessing we have gps coordinates on every one of them (aircraft)...next step is to take them all out..
IMO T does nothing unless Assad uses gas again.
Hope not..if he loses say ten aircraft..for every raid..those raids end quick..
Agreed
Hmmmm. Maybe one more raid, to Convince China he's for real so he can persusde them to make Noth Korea behave.
000
House up another 100$$.
Anyone notice that a carrier group is headed... well....

>Liz is right. Providing humanitarian aid sends a stronger statement.
Actually I think it's more like 90 million dollars.
But that 90 million was already spent -- I'm pretty sure Raytheon has been paid for those cruise missiles.
Can't justify buying the new toys (at twice the price) until you've played out the ones you have.
How many war planes does assad have anyway?
Good morning.
Wake up East coasters.
My son has great dirt his new house. I have dirt envy.
Morning all...
So has the lithium battery guy really invented some great new battery?
And solar power is coming along nicely. Oh, how I wish we could tell the Middle East to go to hell.
Hi Cinco. What's doing??
I just discovered I don't have to prove I'm not a robot, just push publish. Hmm how long will that work?
Just getting up... Been awake for a while. I was gonna go hiking with my daughter this morning but she didn't roll in till about 3:30 AM, so it's probably gonna be me and the dog
Comes and goes for me. BTW, I never have to do it on my cell phone, but more often than not I have to do it on my desktop
It's my blog an I have to do it too. Good morning all from the highest gas taxes, worst roads, most Democrat state. Only a dozen miles from the State House but thankfully upwind.
Morning factoid. Accepting refugees at the rate Sweden has, the US would need to bring in 8 million.
LL, first try at the pictures. Mercedes the crab. One of my first scrap metal table art pieces.

Forgot, Good Morning!
I like it! Does it scare turtles?
It eats soft composite turtles. :)
I got something in Russian
My turtles are not soft and glare in the general direction of your crab.
Sooo much candy. Mimosas help. Off to look at houses for the kids.
Decent houses in Woodland cost approx twice what they are worth.
Surprise?
Evicted a new turtle from the back yard. Fertilized roses. Chopped More sawgrass. Bought more roses. And marigolds. And a lithrops which I first admired in case a green house in Chicago.
Got a couple more turtle holes to fill in. Tired. Should cook. Think I'll drink some wine.
Steele Turtles are maintenance free except for occasional dusting. ;)
But, they don't walk around. Or pull their feet and head in.

What's different is when a storefront closes it seems to stay closed. There are exceptions. The college town of Davis if a store closed there are a half dozen vying for the next opportunity for bankruptcy.
At first I wondered why terrorists didn't target America's worldwide global tech presence. Think about why. It isn't pretty.
> What's different is when a storefront closes it seems to stay closed. There are exceptions.
We had the unusual exception over by the base recently. The hardware store closed, it was almost the last real hardware store in town (there is still a tiny one elsewhere).
But amazingly, it re-opened under new ownership. Hopefully it lasts, as the alternatives are HD or Lowes.
> Decent houses in Woodland cost approx twice what they are worth.
Isn't Woodland a tiny farm town?
Maybe they can build a tiny house, which I am watching now.
The prices HomeDespot charges for "hardware" are obscene. Don't get me started on plumbing. We've already discussed name brand fixture falsehoods.
81k but farm town feel.
Good moring every body.
World still here?
I did too much chopping and fertizing and turtle eviction yesterday. Aches.
I may have posted this before.
"A few decades ago, box turtles were considered common, but today they are many lists of troubled species; Florida populations have suffered greatly. The single most important cause for the decline in box turtle populations is habitat destruction. Although each box turtle may require two-and-a-half to twelve acres, those acres must provide shelter, nest sites, a continuing supply of food, and access to a mate. As natural habitats have been converted to urban landscapes and criss-crossed with roads, populations have become isolated and one by one have disappeared. If a road goes through the middle of a 50 year-old box turtle's home range, the turtle doesn't leave, he just continues moving about the remaining habitat, crossing the road to get from one area to another and often gets hit. Lawn mowers, children, dogs, and fire also take a toll on box turtle populations. It does no good to pick up a turtle and release it in a safer place; box turtles are homebodies with very good sense of direction. They usually head right back to where they came from, and many don't make it."
From: "Out With The Wild Things".
Ihave 2 and 3/4 acres. These are gopher tortoises. I don't mind if they eat my blue Daze, but I do mind if the try to dig a hole under my house or under some bricks which some homo sapiens might fall in. There are 3 of them directly around the house and most of the houses have 2 and a half acres or more. I assume there are lots in the woods behind the house. People do move them off the road if the see them. Lots of Squashed armadillos and cats, never seen a squashed turtle.
There are as many as 20 adjacent acres with no roads, only driveways. And much more than that if you discount very small seldom used roads. None of my turtles are starving.
I also object if they eat my green beans, which I fence off. The turtle I evicted was trying to dig under the fence and succeeding.
Liz, you probably can get the state to put up a "caution gopher turtle crossing" sign on your street. They're common in Southwest Florida. I don't know if your neighbors would appreciate the sign, though.
I don't think the neighbors would care.
Well, the WsJ thinks bond purchases are signaling more slow growth.
And there is a picture of blood on a coptic church pew. Must I see this in a financial newspaper?
Once the state knows about your gopher turtles they will take an interest in your gopher turtles. That can morph into an unwelcome interest into how you manage their habitat.
Yep. I haven't seen any squashed ones anyway. And technically they aren't mine. You could say I am theirs. Same as the cat. Obviously they like the part I try to manage, I e garden, better than the back, which is more or less in its natural state.
None of that has happened in SW Florida that I'm aware of. I suppose the state could arrest people who have gopher turtles on their property and send them to Slovenia for torture, but that hasn't happened yet either. But it's good to warn people even of the remotely possible.
I am told they are delicious. Usually the officials get, errr, officious when someone is trying to build something
On the topic of Florida, Carl Hiaasen has a new book, "Razor Lady", about more aberrant behavior of Florida Homo saps.(Like using sexual enticements to accidentally capture motorists trying to evade the law or the mob. In this case the heroine captures a few unsuspecting people by accident including a "Cajun" TV star from Wisconsin who really is nuts...) Hiaanen, a Miami Herald reporter and humorist, may be the modern day Mark Twain.
I wonder if the evicted turtle has found its way back. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. I fear officialdom when building something is involved.
Hi assent has even taken on the sugar interests.
Hub agrees with dawg, on not coming to the attention of the state.
My wife returned from Thailand last night. She said she was really glad to have an American passport. Also that they were giving non-citizens a difficult time at customs.
The hospitality industry must live that.
Love
We keep hearing people say they aren't going to visit the US because Trump. I'm thinking saying isn't the same as doing. I do not imagine Old Faithful is a priority terrorism target vs say the Louvre.
If it bleeds, it leads
It amazes me that people always seem to have budget for travel..but haven't saved anything for retirement..

I guess that climatologists will just have to speculate at what they contained...
Our financial adviser tried to get us to save additionally for a nursing home or assissted living facility. I wasn't interested at all. I want to have some fun while I can. In addition, I have a fair chunk I don't need for anything. I don't want to save even more money.
Oh dear.
Ofc Depot people trying to set up new laptop. Failing.
If they can't do it, how does anyone expect me to do anything with it?????
I could be chopping instead of just sitting here
Oh, it's just Outlook is hard to set m up. . . .
Bored. . . Bored. . Bored. . Bored.
Finally set up.

New post needed.
Had to post this for Robert:
"Tesla becomes most valuable U.S. car maker, edges out GM"
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-stocks-tesla-idUSKBN17C1XF
Tesla makes as many cars in a year as Ford or GM in a slow week.
I repeat. Ford should suspend the dividend and issue a one time borrowed payout to bring debt to 100% of NAV then use the remaining money to make a Tesla clone division that promises the moon sometime in the future. Should send the stock to 160.
Tomorrow night Liz. Merced tomorrow then home.
Morning all...
Lizzy, Lizzy, wakey, wakey...
Yawn. World still here?
I guess so.
Good Morning!
Ouch! Pinched a lower back nerve, ER visit and pain meds till I see the Doc later today. Getting old is fun!
Owwww. Sympathy.
Too many hours in the car. Worth it though. Recommend the drive from Winters to St Helena. Beautiful. Berringer winery. Rutherford winery. Quite the racket. Still fun. Like I said. Merced this morning, home this evening. New posts then.
I guess fire ant bites and rose scratches don't count. Ungrateful roses.
Ok east coasters, tell us what you really think.
About any thing at all. Cats and dogs, living together. . .
You mean Congress?
Check out the new study on CA pension contributions. Dooom.
Hahaha
Let me guess. There's not enough money. .
If CalPERS can earn 7% compounded every year through 2023 then public (taxes) will only double.
> If CalPERS can earn 7% compounded every year through 2023 then public (taxes) will only double.
Has anyone seen a list of States that haven't dug themselves a bottomless pit on pensions? I think it might be really useful to see that list...
We have different rates of taxation for different types of income. CA can charge 40% on public retirement income.
Hahahaha. Tears and crying.
Nobody thinks they will do that??
States ranked.
https://graphics.wsj.com/table/Connecticut_102015
Thanks. Oregon. Hmmm.
Exactly my conclusion! Add to the the likely monthly inflow and second careers from retired 40 something CA service employees and even better.
Calpers Learned from wall street. If they fail to meet their goal, the taxpayer will bail them out! What's wrong with you? Do you hate public education, It's for the kids!
Marigolds being planted, evil roots dug up.
Need many many more Marigolds.
There's a marigold farm on the other side of the golf course. Acres and acres. The seeds for sale and the petals are added to cage chicken feed to keep the yolks yellow.

Not that many marigolds!!
Hub is setting up "my" new laptop. A nightmare. He asks me what choice of something I want, and I don't know what he is talking about. He gets disgusted. He says how did you set this up? Me? Moi? I never set anything.up except wallpaper and how long the.screen stays bright. I only ever downloaded one app, zillow. I never update anything unless they makeme. Why didn't you saveguatd Amazon prime password. Me? You set that up. I have my doubts that I'll be able to use it at all.
Well, now it's recharging.
House up another 150$

Those undeserving inlanders should probably be shipped out of state. They probably voted for Trump anyway. No soup for them.
I just finished driving that for seven hours and not just cruising the 99 at 80mph.
