Employment Bell Ringing at the Top

I have issues with Chris Thornberg dating back to some clashes prior to the bubble bursting but he's been pulling down big bucks for being wrong then and still to this day whilst I have not made pence.   I guess that makes him a good economist.

 -----
“Housing is the chain on the dog that is chasing a squirrel,” said Christopher Thornberg, principal economist and founding partner with Beacon Economics. “Once that chain runs out, it yanks the dog back.” Like the dog, Thornberg said, the Bay Area job market has been restrained.
Overall, the Bay Area lost 4,700 jobs last month. While some smaller metropolitan areas in the region had job gains, employers shed 1,300 jobs in Santa Clara County, 1,700 in the San Francisco-San Mateo region and 2,600 in the East Bay, seasonally adjusted figures from the state’s Employment Development Department showed.
The EDD on Friday also revised downward the number of Bay Area job losses that occurred in August to 2,400, but those 2,400 job losses in August combined with the 4,700 newly reported job losses for September to paint an unsettling picture.
-----

None of this has to do with the clusterfrack about to rain down on Tesla for their 400 layoffs.  One example being an employee who was injured on the job on Friday and terminated Monday.  It doesn't matter if the termination is justified, the optics in this State are going to deeply scar the company.

Well today we are getting the heat on the coast: 90 degrees already, but 20% humidity, so not really that bad.

Remember when I bought a tiny chunk of Ford to put my money where where mouth was? It is doing okay. I just repeated with the beaten down GE @21.78.

Didn't GE gut their R&D department? What are they if they aren't innovating ways to do it better/faster/cheaper?

PSA: The world is coming to an end. None of our public institutions work. The bank just did not bounce a check that was 6k short becauuse I was a good customer! 1 wrote the check on the wrong account by mistake
The lady it was written to tried to stop payment and couldn't. People tried to call me bUT my phone was broken, insidiously. You could call out but not in. So we didn't know it was broke. 2 of the checks were lost in the mail. So banks, post offices
Phone company and me. All pos. And the govt, goes without saying.

GE? I bought some for about $10 in 2009. Real POS stock.

I see that some attorneys have started advertising for clients to participate in fraud class action against the company. So the shorts may not be done yet.

Wow! LL crazy chain of events.

http://msutoday.msu.edu/news/2017/transparent-solar-technology-represents-wave-of-the-future/

See-through solar materials that can be applied to windows represent a massive source of untapped energy and could harvest as much power as bigger, bulkier rooftop solar units, scientists report today in Nature Energy.

Kinda kewl, especially for warm sunny areas where the additional power coudl be used to assist heat pumps for cooling...

Lawyerliz said...

Yep. The power companies will be against it.

Good Morning!

Big sales pitch constantly on TV in SW AZ for solar to reduce your electric bill. Simple water sprayer on your A/C condenser will lower your electric bill and reflector mirrors will help the heat pump. No excessive solar cost either.

I had a window air that labored so hard I thought it was about gone. Sprayed the condenser with water and a flood of dirt came out and quieted down ran smooth again. that has been several years ago.

Interesting.

Passive solar is overlooked because thyere's no profit in in it. Large overhangs on roofs. Roof Color choices. Enough space between houses. And of course maintaining HVAC as Lobbyist Ben Dover points out.
