Fire, Aim, Ready!

Casey has a Plan:

Step 2: Give out financial advice for money
Step 1: Register with the State of California as an "Investment Adviser."

He's skirted the radar for far longer than most of us expected but he's now decided to fly straight into a sh!tstorm like he has never dreamed. The California Department of Corporations wil come down on him so hard and so fast Jamba Juice will be squirting out of every orrifice including a few new ones.

What is the story behind Turdius' ticket?

What is the evidence behind this latest jaw-dropping revelation? It is not on IAFF.

Anyway, registering as an IA is not a crime, even if the IA is a habitual dumbass.

A few caveats, however - to register as a CTA (commodities trading advisor) one has to put up evidence of capital. I don't remember what the requirements are for an IA.

Also, wouldn't Casey have to pass a Series 7 exam? Good luck.

Anonymous said...

No way could snowflake pass the 7 and 63. I did and it sucked bigtime. The suck ass thing was I had to work at a boiler room for 6 weeks so they would sponsor me for the test. After I passed, I high tailed it outta there, lol.

It's been a while but I got nailed in Sac for 90. Anything over 85 in CA is reckless driving and a huge no-no. He's screwed insurance wise if he even has insurance anymore. That doesn't come off with a class either. No way.

Anonymous said...

looking at the second photo, the car that picture was taken is BLUE (like homeless bob's car) not WHITE (like VDubs).

another hater should verify (sleep deprovation could be futzing with my vision). But, I don't think that car is Vdubs.

sorry if I'm wrong.

Anonymous said...

I have my 7 & 66 (63 & 65 combo) and yeah, I passed both first time through. Snowflake would melt under the pressure.

Isn't it bad enough that he ruined his life and took Galina down with him? Why should he be allowed to share his brand fiscal irresponsibility with anyone?

To quote our FFF, he mentioned including info on "reasons to avoid foreclosure".

Does anyone really need this sort of advice? NO! Anyone with an IQ over 50 understands that defaulting on a mortgage and having your house repo'd is a bad idea.

Yes I realize that f*cktard falls below that threshold, however that is what we HATERS are for! We have always been there for Casey, shining light on his ill advised, hair brained, crack pot schemes.

Ad Revenue? Not going to happen!
Find a sponsor? Goodbye Duane!
Apartment building? Not going to happen!

Give us a week and we'll shatter his spirit on this as well. Actually I'm giving us too much credit...once the next down cycle hits, he'll bottom out. Just remember higher highs, lower lows.

I go "less heavy" on the accel through there.

also, the car casey is in appears to have an after-market LCD screen on the dash (look at visible dash under his hand holding the ticket -- lower right of photo) I don't believe Vdbubs has one of these.

King, the apparent blue color of the car may just be a trick of the light. The ticket itself says the car is a White 2001 Jetta. It's in between the two lines on the ticket that he blurred out. :-)

Can anyone confirm that a HELoan of 6.74% with FICO 730+ is pretty much a top deal? I've used bankrate and motleyfool, and they seem to say yes.

segfault said...

I thought the "vehicle type" was "01," not the year...

He probably pulled over on the left side of the road for the cop, and was re-entering the freeway when he took the picture (rather than paying attention for another car going ~90 in the left lane).

I can't believe he wasn't cited for the broken mirror.

Anonymous said...

Also on the ticket (sorry, having too much fun with Photoshop)...

He blurred out the box that reads: "Evidence of Personal Liability Insurance:"

Hmmm. You don't suppose he was driving without... Naw. Not KC!

Also note the previous photo on Flickr: a lovely shot of his cracked rear-view mirror. Sheesh.

Um, you don't need to have a 7 or 63 or any other NASD liscense to register as an Investment Advisor (RIA). Because he has less than $25mm under mngt he can register with the state vs. the SEC. They will, however make him fill out an ADV, which asks some pretty pointed questions, which will lead to him not getting registered (assuming he answers legally). Also, if he does get registered, the ADV is easily searched and viewd on the SEC website.

Look up you own Advisor here:
http://www.adviserinfo.sec.gov/IAPD/Content/Search/iapd_OrgSearch.aspx

Or broker:
http://www.nasd.com/InvestorInformation/InvestorProtection/ChecktheBackgroundofYourInvestmentProfessional/index.htm

Anonymous said...

Steeliekid: thanks for looking up what I was too lazy to. So Casey has to have $25 million under management before SEC registration becomes mandatory?

I would really like to know what Casey puts in his CA application. Given his past history of veracity, it seems doubtful that he'll suddenly choose a policy of full disclosure....

For the only traffic ticket in my life, I was caught going 85+ in a 55 max zone. I was written down for 70 by the CHP for the reason that it was my first ticket and that allowed me to take traffic school (online, no less!).

ratlab said...

@Badjer

I noticed he was taking the picture in the fast lane. I've done it, but certainly not after I just received a ticket. I question why Galina didn't take the picture instead.

But it's even ballsier to take a picture of the CHP as they're pulling you over.

Then again, why hasn't anyone commented on how he can afford to go skiing?

Anonymous said...

Actually, according to this link:

http://www.occourts.org/traffic/#Signup

Says you MAY be eligible for traffic school if you were not going more than 25+ mph over the posted speed limit. So if posted at 65 and he was cited for 90, he could just barely qualify.

Anonymous said...

Rob, he can get the point erased with traffic school (I recently went for doing 100 on the way to Arizona from SoCal - the cop wrote 93 so I could go to traffic school). However, he will still have to pay. It cost me about $250 or so PLUS the cost of traffic school to keep it off my record.

Good advice about current loan rates from the dawg pound. 6.75% with my credit union and high FICO. Frankly, I was surprised about the FICO business. Very high FICOs are not given a break of any kind. We slimy good payers also have no loyalty and jump at the next 25bp. They'd rather have 690+ and service the full life of the loan. The result is 730 is not an issue plus or minus 50 points.

So, Casey is facing the last of the foreclosures, a mountain of unsecured debt, and a looming tax deadline, and he goes snowboarding. For all the hard work he's been doing, of course.

So where's the money coming from? Interesting that he hasn't publicized his little getaway; I think he realizes that questions about where the money is coming from would rear their head. This time it's not money related to a scam, I mean a "sweet deal" (for the Utah trip), or a gift card (the Jamba Juice) . . . looks more and more like Mr. Serin has a little hard money tucked away somewhere.

And any bets on how long it takes him to get around to actually doing anything about the speeding ticket other than taking a picture of it?

Anonymous said...

Hello All,

What is going on - KC posts one ridiculous comment at IAFF (re: I want to help others in financial distress - which is ludicrous enough - but am too busy with my own foreclosures) and then simultaneously posts a glamour shot on flicker of his speeding ticket (plus a nicely framed police car in cracked side view mirror photo) explaining that he deserved to get away for the weekend.
It is like he left the clues for us at exurb (I am a 2-3 month lurker) to find and crow about - afterall who in their right mind would self-portray themselves in this contradictory manner: I just wanna help others mixed with what I suspect is faux christian humility and self disclosure versus proud reckless attention whore behavior.
Somehow I feel that he is gaming exurb now too but I do not understand to what end. Perhaps there really is no such thing as "bad" publicity?
I feel strongly that I want him to be held accountable for his thievery in a court of law and to suffer the consequences for it (shame/humiliation/and deprivation of his personal freedoms). However, I am also very disappointed (sometimes to the point of thinking that I am a fool for "following the rules" in regards to my own meager financial life) that no authority as yet appears to have made a move on him - he's a flagrant and self aggrandizing con artiste!
It is all a mystery - perhaps this really is some intensely deep viral marketing campaign?

Anonymous said...

He is not going to register as any kind of "financial advisor".

If you remember, the "Money Man" or G2 in Utah made a big deal about his traffic and contacts.

I'm sure G2 has some sort of way of capitalizing on folks desparate for relief.

Casey's model would be simple. Pose as the patron saint of foreclosed souls and then feed them to the lions getting a fee for each soul that buys into the "financial help".

I predict the haterz will pose as folks needing foreclosure help, finding the hucksters tht Casey is sending them to and then giving them the Casey treatment too.

This guy is poison for anyone who touches him.

R-Boy said...

Yeah, I'm gonna look at the fine print, but its a no fees, no closing cost. Catch mainly is that I have to have a checking account with these guys bank, and thats fine, since they have a high yield checking that I qualify for that BNA doesn't have. I dislike BNA.

I prolly got the rate because I am good friends with their head accountant. It helps when you talk directly to the guy who runs their entire loan department, rather than a CSR at an individual bank.

It doesn't cost them anything to throw something out and if you reply all the better. There really isn't a reason for this to be going on anymore. "Shopping" a mortgage is going to become all but automated and totally disintermediated.

Besides, the borrowers were stupid, take a 24 years remaining loan and turn it into a 30 and cash out a Lexus and vacation to Hawaii for the same payment? What's not to like?

He's typical in that people his age only things that effect them day to day, not in the long run, and shithead doesnt care about the houses or the debts because it was never HIS money at risk. It's all just theoretical debt to him, it all goes bye bye when the foreclosure hits, because he gets no bill that day. Down the road? Who cares, he has no intentions of paying it unless he can scam it somehow.

We're talking about someone who thinks he deserves rewards for just getting up everyday at the same time. Of course his priorities and ethics are completely fucked up! If they were'nt, he'd never have gotten into the situation he's in!

He STILL thinks of that cash back as "profit", when it's supposed to be for closing costs and repairs. That tells you all you need to know about his "ethics".

Salary and zipcode for a chance at a cruise? NFW. See? EVERYONE wants your data and EVERYONE has a way to fool you into giving it away.

I was supportive of Casey at first - after all, I'm only a bit older, and wow have I screwed up. Right now my husband and I are working as much as possible and living off of less than one income, while the rest of our money goes to pay off our credit cards. But our debt came from the fact that we were stupid, broke, and my husband hurt his back and couldn't work. But it kills me to watch while this idiot goes on vacations, eats at restaurants, and in general thinks he deserves a normal life. I'm sorry, he's living the life my parents live - you know, after many years of hard work and saving.

I think what's worse is that he's planning on giving others advice. I'm fairly certain I'm fully qualified to screw up my own life. What he doesn't understand is that people need advice on how to fix their problems, not how to make them worse. And that while there is value in commiseration, that commiseration comes best from people who are actually struggling with their situations.

Just argh. Why am I working so hard to fix my problems when I could be going on vacations and eating in restaurants?

That being said, I wouldn't mind hearing about the guy driving into a telephone poll at a high rate of speed. I just hope that the stupid SOB doesn't take anyone with him.

Baseball's Opening Day is right around the corner, and that's where most of my attention will be. I'm not "leaving" per se, but I'll probably continue to curtail my visits (have been doing so anyway over the past 10 days or whatever anyway). Especially if posters like Steph J are doing so as well.

At the end of the day, the guy just isn't all that interesting especially when he tries to be controversial. He was a lot more amusing when he was genuinely trying to do something and failing so completely then when he stopped posting about what he was really doing and just maserbaited.
