There is No Climate!

There now that the presumed denial is out of the way, a serious discussion.

One of the things I never noticed before.  There are far fewer reporting sites contribution to the world temperature database.  For a long time I thought it unfortunate but necessary.  After all a properly sited station can only degrade until it is no longer considered reliable for the purposes of measuring climate temperatures.  Often these are places like airports where the stations continue to do important work like keeping airplanes from crashing but not for climate measurement.  So, this never raised my interest until...

Coincidence?  A massive "purge" of the reporting stations and a simultaneous spike in temperature?

Okay, then how about the second graph?  One location reporting since 1659 and do you see where humans started driving climate?

For what it is worth, I remain a climate change agnostic.

I read one interesting observation not long ago that explained at least some of the rise in temperature around airports to the expansion of airports.

More Runways = Hotter Ground

Pavement gets hot in the sun. I had a hard time arguing with that logic. I can stand in my front lawn in bare feet in the hot sun without a problem. Don't ask me to stand on the paved road for long though.

It would therefore seem very important to know just where all these sensors are.

Racing will show you real quick how structure effects weather. We go to extremes to calculate conditions at the starting line and heat retention is a major factor. I agree with temps recorded at a dirt runway then paved is a drastic difference.

Army boots melt in desert sun

The men say damage to their boots is caused simply by walking or standing on baking tarmac...

I can't speak for others, but seeing the soles of my shoes melting away would tend to induce a bit of panic at some point.
