Nothing much to report as it has been for a year. Seeing as it is the last report before the hugely unreliable seasonal adjustment season I thought is best to establish a baseline.

At least various natural disasters have knocked Trump off the the news.
At least various natural disasters have knocked Trump off top billing.
On jobless claims: I generally work with people who don't have too much trouble finding work when they want it, so I have a biased perspective. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that things are getting a bit toppy, or at least that there is some increased churn coming.
On Der Trump: I think he simply decided to cool it for Christmas, and enjoy the holiday. The optimistic take would be that he is working on getting an infrastructure initiative going, and has toned things down to encourage more cooperation.
Trump has opponents wasting energy on Melania ordering a 200 year old White house tree ripped out while he rips out decades of questionable environmental policy.
Question: Should the weather channel be classified with the syfy channel or the comedy channel? My favorites:
An Erie PA car with only the windshield wipers sticking out of the snowbank.
Watertown NY -32°F (not windchill).
There is a truly sad aspect of the Sheila Jackson Lee United Airlines debacle. Why is no one asking why she is flying first class at all?
Amazing crime solved resolution:
A search of the suspects and their vehicle turned up over 50 pounds of marijuana, marijuana plants and other property that deputies say was taken from the marijuana farm.
It was seized and returned to the victim.

>getting an infrastructure initiative going
I hope that's the case.
I would rather see Trump going in that direction rather than the Ryan direction of cutting entitlements.
>Watertown NY -32°F (not windchill).
We are headed into a global cooling period -- right on schedule.
I only pray this is real infrastructure spending and not FedGov's previous opinions of what compromises infrastructure spending.
The Obama Stimulus program included paying off corrupt cost overrun debts on already spent projects.
And let us all watch -very- closely the evolving Oroville Dam spillway repair costs.
Scams everywhere but none for me. Where is Charles Ponzi when we need him?
The tree was rotting and possibly by pruning it may be saved. It happens, you know
Hahaha. We all need the protection of the law.
Yep. It's what he should have started with.
I'm just happy because my house is clean, including the kitchen. I may never cook again to keep it clean. The best infrastructure would be to take IRobots roomba to the next level, and then the level after that.
Rob will those toasted subdivisions be rebuilt?
Maybe Jean-Marie Simon should change parties
Here in MA it's below freezing your balls off... Already down to 1°F at 8:30 PM
I wouldn't rebuild
Fortunately my daughter doesn't have those.
No power problems, I hope.
Pix of the creek out in back of Cinco's place:

No, but I'm going to take photos of Downs Falls tomorrow morning. I took some of Trap Falls earlier this week.
Should they rebuild the Florida Keyes? Kali will rebuild after all the wealth real and fake must be protected (banksters).
Ack...Doans Falls... DYAC
The neighborhoods will be rebuilt but not by/for the current residents. Most were far too modest for the locations. Expect more density and monster houses fighting over view corridors and height restrictions.
Cinco. Email those pics and I’ll use them here.
There is only so much money that the insurance companies will give out. So all the people will take the money and rum where? Out of state? Are there that many rich people who can build these monster houses? That might burn again. These houses are going to have monster insurance payments, as well as less expensive ones.
Time to check how frozen my children are.
3° in Boston, 58 here, which feels cold to me. 11° in Champaign.
Good Morning!
If I remember correctly the insurance covers the property so it has to be rebuilt and the mortgage company has to sign off on it as it protects them more then the presumed owner. Other wise the owner could walk and leave the insurance company holding the bag which becomes theft. IMO
100 year fire, not likely to happen again in their life time. Like RD said they will fight to build the best view.
Check is made out to both mtg company and borrower.
If you have a lot of equity, you can tell them to pay themselves off sell the lot and leave.
Best view of course. 100 years hunh? Did the goddess tell you that personally? 100 years in Houston wasn't. Glug.
Are the fire pretty much out?
The TV geniuses used the 100 year fire just like they do the hurricanes, Orville dam failure, etc. Agreed if you really have enough equity to negotiate with your insurance company. I am sure if they profit they will, agree other wise their wealth and profit must be guaranteed.
Okay...-5°F when I peeked out from under the covers earlier, so I slept in until the temp reached zero... Heading out to the falls in about 20 minutes, after some more coffee...
The Law of Averages is really more of a suggestion...
If you give them the money they MUST satisfy the mtg.
And all interest due then, any fees, which are small here. They don't have a choice then.
The Houston Ian had 3 hundred year floods in 5 years IIRC.
Are any early payment penalties waived?
It's possible to roll snake-eyes 100 times in a row. It's not likely, but it is possible
It's all life's lottery and insurance is about persevering wealth.
The value in most of those houses was and remains the lot. Building costs are high but not that high. These were $300k of house on $800k of lot. I expect to see lots of $600k houses going up on those lots.
Gosh I need a break from this weather. I hope it doesn't get to 80 today.
Nasty to poor coldists. Ok with me at 68°.
Floridians rather like getting to show off their sweaters.
Having a sweater or coat or socks gives you a slightly higher status.
Insurance is about distributing risk. The bankster are about preserving (their) wealth...
SoCal suburban renewal. I guess that all of those old tax rates, etc, went up in smoke with those homes. Ought to be a boon for the local jurisdictions
Ventura County is both honest and precise in most land use and tax aspects. It is in no small part why I live here.
No doubt the fire victims will be allowed retain their Prop 13 land values ans and their pre fire property values and only receive higher assessments for the upgrades above that level.
This is my pentultimate fire report. 91% contained. The 9% could not ever threaten anything worth saving. The last flames will die out in about a month. I will do a wrap post late Jan or early Feb for closure.
They all have to be assessed again. More like a bust I'd say.
>It's possible to roll snake-eyes 100 times in a row. It's not likely, but it is possible
Was at a craps table in Reno once where a woman rolled 7 naturals in a row (7 or 11).
Over a sufficient period of time, the "law of averages" will hold true. Unfortunately, that length of time could be infinity
Dodged a weather bullet. 76 high not the insane 80 projected. It is almost January. I should probably check to see if the heater works.
Single digits till Wednesday. My heat works! =;o
Patriots game 12F. Too cold to snow.
Stock Market ends on a high, not much sell off. End of another profitable year on paper. Here's to another new year, sneaks another piece of chocolate fudge! :)
Penultimate. Wow.
Not true... It snowed today and the temp was only 5°F... You couldn't actually see the flakes cuz they were too small, but you could feel then, and at a distance it looked like fog. Coldest that I've ever seen snow... Damn
Weather report:
Merritt Island--54°
Boston -- 9°.
Champaign--16°.
Further weather. Boston
Merritt Island 50°
Boston 8
Just went above zero here in North Central Massachusetts, and it's beginning to snow. Too cold to snow my ass...
You know, you don't have to live there. Kind of gloomy here.
Temperature here in Chicago is a balmy 3 degrees and the wind chill is -18. I was just outside for almost an hour with Buttercup, my dog, We've got 4 inches of snow and this morning is sunny but windy. I was "snugger than a bug in a rug" until one of my toes froze and was rattling around in my boot.
Good Morning!
2F this morning! Sledding anyone?
Echo Beach Weather Update:
Sunny and cool this morning, it was 48 when I left for my walk.
There is a marine layer lurking off shore, but the offshore wind is holding it at bay for now.
Expected high is about 65, we'll see what develops.
Sunny now.
And 58.
Champaign is boiling at 14°.
Decided go go hang out in La Jolla for New Years. Should be fun.
> La Jolla for New Years.
Golfing?
Might golf. Might hike. Gaslamp revelry for sure.
New post.
Ended up Cosmic bowling. Weird didn't do well but had family fun. :)
-3°F this morning, and starting in the deep freeze until Wednesday
Staying*
