I don't like a lot of Donald Trump. I cannot shake the image of him as the Rodney Dangerfield character in "Caddyshack." For the stuff I do like, most appears to be him doing the right things for the wrong reasons. This is an exception. Escalante Staircase is a true national treasure. It deserves protection. I have no doubt that if it weren't protected Federally it would be covered by State designation. And there's the word; designation. Not a "Park." Not a "Wilderness Area." Not "conservation" not "recreation area." Not "Forest." "Monument" was intended to be a stopgap designation to prevent looting or exploitation of sensitive areas. Look at the pictures above. Bill Clinton and in the case of Bears Ears Obama both overstepped. Stepping back from overreach is not Trump being anti-environment or even anti-conservation.

Liz it aint the slurring that got my attention, it was the shakiness of the signature. I have had personal experience with the decline of handwriting and illness.

So much stay away I am off to Florida on Saturday. Mrs Dawg canceled a meeting because the 101 was closed earlier. Instead she made an emergency delivery to the fairgrounds. The evacuated cavies there were short of greens.
If Trump is unfit due to health concerns Hillary has been interred for several years alongside Pelosi and Feinstein.

I just saw another big cloud of black smoke out towards Santa Paula. Rob can probably pinpoint it from his vantage point up the hills.
It’s huuge blotting out the sky at the Dawghaus. Supposedly between Santa Paula and Fillmore north of the 126. It sure looks a lot closer. I keep expecting flames on the ridge between the 126 and the 118 freeways. I am taking time lapse videos. I will post them after we get back from Souplantation. Coupons shall not be denied. You need to be careful there. A baked potato is fine but don’t think it is healthy under that cheese sour cream bacon bits and butter. Still greenscand crunchy veggies and balsamic vinegar and clear chicken soup are okay.
The bunny vid was great. More good news. Mrs Dawgs friend is caretaker at Steckel Park. The parrots and budgies were moved to a volunteer hangar at the airport and he protected the restt in place.

If I were a rich person who had built a lovely or at least very big and expensive house in Bel Aire, I would think many times before I decided to rebuild.

Mrs Dawg volunteered at the Ventura Fairgrounds for evacuated animals. The auction barn has the dogs and cats. The equestrian paddocks are full of horses and similar. The 4H barn has people as do the commercial and youth buildings. A parrot, guinea pigs, 80 chickens, quite the operation.
Counted up to 400 destroyed homes yesterday before it got dark.
West of Fillmore threatened. Still north of 126. If it jumps it will get all the way to our ridge.
Waiting for sunrise to illuminate the smoke plume. Then. Will post an update.
