CA-AHSR
I love it. A decade ago I explained how CA-ASHR would proceed. This is the latest fantasy. The only reason I mention it at all is because halfway through one commentor says $41 billion which was my prediction in 1995.
The Downtown bus in Orlando is free. So are the rock concerts every three months. Fleetwood Mac last Sat. Doubie Brothers were my Fav. Also Free. Love having a Rocker for a Mayor.
Oh my dear monkey warrior, the Orlando bus is fareless not free. It costs about $1.10/passenger mile. Just because the users are using for free doesn't mean the trip is without price.
She didn't say 41 billion in the video, though I see how you could get that figure from what she said. According to the studies that have been published, the cost for the project is 33 billion between 2008 when the ballot measure would be approved and 2020. That's only 2.75 billion per year for 12 years... a tiny portion of California's budget.
In regards to the comment that trains only work on the east coast consider this. Japan is known for having one of the most successful high speed trains in the world. By the time this system would be running in California, we will have about the same population density as Japan has now.
