I'm Tan, I'm Rested

Hat tip to Property Flopper although I was typing up the post when he sent the tip.

SacBee has the story:
Republican Assemblyman Mike Duvall resigned from office today after revelations that he described lewd details of two sexual affairs at a televised committee hearing.
...
"So, I am getting into spanking her. Yeah, I like it. I like spanking her. She goes, 'I know you like spanking me.' I said, 'Yeah! Because you're such a bad girl!" he says in the recording.

This is like arresting Casey for spitting on the sidewalk compared to the plethora of criminality that is the California Legislature.

FIRST new post in a couple days - I didn't mind, since the old one had a nice pic. This one works well too...

Yes, it is always a good thing to make sure the camera and microphone are off before talking about the kinky, unethical sex you are having. It's bad when the wife finds out. It's also bad when one of the two mistresses doesn't know about the other.

It's really bad when you're banging a lobbiest and happen to have voted on several key pieces of legilation for her rather than bowing out of the vote. The ethics committee is investigating, though his resignation will probably be the end of it.

He's a REPUBLICAN in the CALIFORNIA Legislature. This is not the end of it.

I want prison time. This is bribery via prostitution, pure and simple

There are lots more horny old legislators, and lots more hooker/lobbyists.

This is precisely why we need strictly limited government: the more power these a-holes have over our lives and our economy, the more the interest groups will bribe them.

This might explain Casey's lack of prosecution... he probably "lobbied" some closeted gay guys in the California government in exchange for keeping him out of jail.

Is it that far-fetched? ;-)

Didn't we learn anything from the whole Larry Craig drama? Legislative types, no matter what level, aren't gay... they just have a wide stance.

Unlike a Democrat caught doing the same sort of thing, this idiot finally resigned... good.

Now he'll have time to go and bid for a luxury condo in...er, Natick.

Steve - would that be like the Republican Elliot Spritzer (New York) who resigned or the Democrat Mark Stanford (South Carolina) who is still hanging on?

Oh, wait a minute...

Laura Richardson.

Oh Rob, don't get me wrong, I think most politicians are opportunistic slime. My point is it's not a Dem/Repub thing. Mark Stanford has happily admitted the affair, his wife has moved out, he's being investigated for misuse of state funds, his own party has asked him to resign...

The idea that Dem's don't resign (Spritzer did) or that Repubs do is laughable. Most of them (either party) resign only when they have no choice, usually to avoid criminal charges.

Larry Craig didn't seek re-election (he'd have lost badly), but he held on until the end of his term despite PUBLICLY announcing he would resign if he could not get the guilty plea reversed.

People who seek public office rarely do so for the right reason. Once there, they often feel entitled to special treatment.

It's the nature of the game.

Eliot SPITZER, not Spritzer... :-)

Although both names are somewhat comical given his alleged proclivities. heh.

No worries. He'll just go back to selling insurance in Yorba Linda. After he gets out of prison. The DA is probably making a deal with the women right now.

Casey's gone to Facebook now.

Well, 15 lashes with a wet noodle for me.
