Continuing to bring the room to an empty shell.  Electrical starts today with open walls.  Views from the first window by request.  Yes, it is overgrown.

Floor slope from here looks like it would favor a left handed bowler. :)

Makes me want to do a big project inside but a few years left on the outdoors to finish.

I still have a barn to rebuild and convert to a master bed/bath, and my wife is nagging me get started. Ugh

Rob Dawg said...

She's a nice lady. You owe it to her. ;)

For other readers, Cinco and I became friends over the structural rebuild of the back of his kitchen. That and several interesting life intersections.

These electricians are the Two Stooges.

What wives are for. Still haven't got a painter

LBD said...

Two Stooges? I got the day off. :) 220v is complicated that takes four wires of different colors. =:0

No one has snark about the Jurassic Window? A minute earlier and there would have been a bunny on the lawn.

Unknown said...

Jurassic window was the first thing I noticed. I figured it was a Southern Cali thing.

My parents built their house in East Texas. Contracting out there is very much on the contractors schedule. Like you are lucky if there is any competition in the whole county. You can imagine the quality of work they get sometimes from that.

Reminds me of the garden at the Bel Air Hotel. I like it.

Rob Dawg said...

At risk of Liz causing me of being rich. Yes LBD it does look a lot like the southern end of the central court at the Bel Air.

Two things. Now you and I have to explain our modest nature and why we know the Bel Air.

Lawyerliz said...

I won't believe it. Rich, and.i say rich!!

Jurassic window?

First stay was an out of the blue wedding present, the honeymoon suit one night. The next day was tent cabins at Sequoia. Second was a few nights in a suit celebrating our 10 year anniversary, making some good bucks by then. Next time we considered for our 20 anniversary the price was to expensive. Kids and private school came first, oh and race cars. LOL!

Rob Dawg said...

The tent cabins in the Sequoias are awesome. I love those. Put white wine in the fire bucket an the red next to the door.

LBD said...

Wine? not sure where you are going. We where not even legal to drink back then. LOL! Somebody usually left some food in the dish and cookware cabinet and the bears would find it. Reading the rules is not for everyone, the dishes smashing in the middle of the night. What a honeymoon! :)

Lawyerliz said...

Jurassic bunny?

Lawyerliz said...

Bears to chase away? How?

Rob Dawg said...

Sequoia National Park is several hours away and these quaint tent cabins for lodging. So primative there are fire buckets hanging off the corners for emergencies. The perfect place to chill your wine bottles. And yes bears amble through all the time and people are routinely stupid and leave out things that interest bears.

Here we just have coyotes and hawks as apex predators. No bears.

Good Morning!

The cool weather is back again for a few more days.

Short summer stays at Grants Grove (?) and the sunsets at Beetle rock are amazing. I think that is where tent cabins are at. Grants lodge, I am sure things have changed since then.

Feel like I walked in on a game of "you think you had it bad."

Tents? You got to sleep in tents?

I grew up sleeping on straw.

You had straw?

etc.

Me? I grew up in Hamilton, NC. (Think Mayberry-On-Valium.)
One stop light.
One gas station.
One post office. (no home delivery)
Heck, the town didn't create street addresses until the '90s.

Once my Mom's place sells, I'll never again have knotty pine paneling in the kitchen and den.

Rob Dawg said...

One of the rentals is ALL knotty pine except the kitchen. We have to tell prospective renters that under no circumstances will there be paint or markers.

Rob Dawg said...

Some day we are going to Yosemite and staying at the Awahnee. Reminds me to get lottery tickets. ;)

Rob Dawg said...

Clearly the kitchen is boring people. I'll back off.

The electricians today are actually electricians. Huge improvement.

Lawyerliz said...

Part of my house is pesky cypress. My kids hate it. I don't like it either, but it somehow goes with the house. They'd paint it on an instant.

Lawyerliz said...

I'm not bored, but I don't see why you don't cash in your millions to stay in that hotel.

Cinco-X said...

Lol... An OLD house in socal was built in 1952... Not much older than me

Cinco-X said...

You're supposed to clear the dining room table first

I have so many "old" stories. Just this morning the first crew member showed up a little early. He parked and was just floored. This is so beautiful. So quiet. So remote. We are 45 miles straight line from downtown LA. I cannot tell you how many times people who lived nearby for decades have said; I had no idea this was here.

Cinco-X said...

I saw a Bear crossing the road while walking the dog back when I was laid up from my accident a few Summers back... He lives back in the woods in town, and one night he got into the neighbors llama pen and chased the female about a mile to the yard or one of our friends. The animal later died of fright, and they had to give the matter to another llama farm across town

Cinco-X said...

Well...I had to use outhouses when I used to visit my relatives in rural Alabama as a kid...

Cinco-X said...

I certainly was shocked. It's soooooo much more attractive than LA... LA is hideous

Rob Dawg said...

I don't understand LA. Why? Where's the attraction that overrides all the negatives?

I go to the Hollywood Bowl. I go to the LA Phil. I go to Disneyland and Universal Studios. The Museums are unquestionably world class. LAX goes everywhere. Malibu to Santa Barbara beaches are unmatched. I'm 100 miles away from and timewise closer to skiing. Sorry but Tito's Tacos and Pho #1 and Gardens of Taxco and My Fathter's Office aren't draws anymore.

Rob Dawg said...

> soooooo much more attractive than LA...

Apologies for not immediately acknowledging this high complement.

Question. What were you expecting? I hardly got to show you ten percent of the good in the short time you were here. Stay longer next time.

Cinco-X said...

Take a ride on the Santa Monica freeway, and describe the scenery

Cinco-X said...

My wife loves your place and town, but says she doesn't want to go to la again. Maybe cuz I have an old girlfriend that lives there. But ya know, after 32 years, you'd think she'd be over that...

Rob Dawg said...

after 32 years, you'd think she'd be over that...

You don't know women. ;)

Correction. WE don't know women.

Rob Dawg said...

Wait until your sweetie sees the new kitchen. I suggest you not let her follow the blog.

Cinco-X said...

No kidding...

Cinco-X said...

Are you gonna have a built-in island or bar? The runr looks s little narrow, but it might work...a little glasses in breakfast nook protruding into the patio could be nice as well...

Unknown said...

Passed a big billboard downtown Austin today that said "All are welcome in AISD". Sanctuary city being passive-aggressive with the state legislature. Meanwhile, my tax dollars are paying for both sides to take out ads.

Rob Dawg said...

Have I not shown the patio expansion? Doubled the area out to the hot tub and shed of spousal exile.

Lawyerliz said...

Do you ever actually use the hot tub? Most don't.

Lawyerliz said...

What do you do to get exiled?

Lawyerliz said...

Off to take my last history test.

Good morning!

Thunder, light hail and rain, cool 56F. Time to set up the new welder. =:0>

Musk just can't get it going the right direction. Needs more free money and bigger promises.
