We are so wiped out. I will tell the story but not now nor for antorher many drinks. Hell is for those who mean well. There is a lower circle for trying and failing.

Tired from hounding subcontractors?
No baby yet.

Is the range gas and the over electric? That the dilemma. Love a gas range; hate a gas oven...

Mrs. Dawg must be very happy!!

I'm happy and in no small part because Mrs Dawg is happy. ;)

The Thermador range is gas/gas. Don't fret. This oven is awesome. Ultimately precise and controllable. Besides, gas is much cheaper than electricity. For what we massively overpaid it better be awesome.

The misadventure to try and get to Woodland these last few days is finally settling out. I will tell the story soon. Suffice for now, we came back with fewer cars than when we left.

The Expedition blew up. Donated to charity. 13 hours of travel and moving appliances. Basic hell on earth.

How olde? How many miles accrued?

Rob Dawg said...

$1100 to buy. $400 invested. Got some 12,400 miles of use. By sitting mostly in the driveway it saved a few grand in family pool car insurance costs. Died n California’s Central Valley. Worse, full of appliances.

So Jim, do you have any observations on my massively overspending on a classic style kitchen? I wanted to spend half as much but basically had to do what was expected for the neighborhood. I get to use it in the mean time.

Lawyerliz said...

Do what was expected dawg? I thought you never did that.

I miss the bowling lane.

Was an investment decision. Spending so much that it shows keeps the house from being considered a lot with zoning permits.

Heading towards the finish line on rebuilding some columns for the garages and putting cement fiber, trim and fresh paint. Great to have a friend to volunteer. Then back to resetting the windows on the front of the A-fame. Then 15 Tons of landscape rock, then Vaca!

LBD said...

Oops! Cement fiber siding.

The tile-floor pattern clinched for me a few weeks ago.

We did the microwave over the stove, and when wifey saw your pic she said we should have done the full hood instead. The fan under microwave only covers the back burners, so any front-burner cooking splatters grease all over the cabinets, so well-played by you.

I love the cool little sideboard as a way to add valuable counter space on a wall that would have gone unused otherwise.

Avoiding the temptation to smother the room with cabinets was smart - if you would have included upper cabinets on the sink side it would have been too much, and really closed in the space. Instead, it looks more open and helps direct the attention out the window.

A detailed splash behind the stove can be a grease catcher, but yours looks good enough to be worth it. I had a house for sale that was owned by a big family who did a lot of cooking, and they didn't keep up with the cleaning - by the time I got there it was permanently discolored.

It's an upscale, high-end look that should last you the duration. Bravo!

Who gives a damn what other people think if you're happy with it and not going anywhere? Resale value is pretty much moot in that regard.

I will post some close up pics tomorrow of the splash detail to show what JtR is talking about.

No news on baby. Maybe the are all asleep .
