A Winchester Thru the Cranium

This is a Winchester repeating rifle.

This is the Winchester County Club:

View Larger Map
What can you say about an ultra high end luxury golf course development in a location best described as a remote suburb of Folsom? I present the Winchester Country Club at 3030 Legends Drive · Meadow Vista, CA.

Why does anyone care? At least three reasons.

One. The high end is not immune. At every economic turn, landowners, developers, buyers all command resources that are are deeper and more deployable. Normally even if they get in trouble at the same time as the lower classes they are still able to conceal their predicament. Concealed until the whole facade collapses.

Two. This disaster raises the spectre of exurban declines leading the way. Now that isn't true but it is getting said so often these days I find it necessary to explain the process yet again. The places built most recently and most unlike a modest suburban tract home are the most exposed to this particular downturn. Thus high rise condos and Las Vegas boomburgs are getting crushed despite having very little in common.

Three. Containment. I'm learning to love this word. It is like as ecret password/test. Use it and you fail.

Sorry, could not resist.

I love Winchester Country Club.

LOVE it.

Why? It is becoming the ruination of someone I despise.

Gas prices are hurting everyone.

But the high end is going to get hurt more by the Alt-A resets. Alt-A went to this type of housing, unlike sub-prime.

So, where is old bilgey. His pick totally off. My picks absolutely correct. Nothing like a John Bircher without the world revolving around fear. Sure he can skunk about the low areas hunting possums, but the big game is up here on the planes.

@Old,
And I was right about Obama back in early January. Woohoo!

Old said...

@akubi

Hell yes you were correct!

Old said...

Where is ol' bilgey, old bilgemon? Has he realised his worldview is a thing of the past, or is he off somewhere equating Obama with Osama? Or perhaps worse Obama with Casey Serin. Of course, if Bush had actually done his sworn duty and self sworn pledge to catch Osama, well, I can't say things would not have been as fucked as they are currently. Of course, that is what you get when you elect a ne'er-do-well like Bush. Eight years of Bush, and Bin Laden is still out there. Gore would have got him.

@Old,
I haven't been tracking Bilgeman so I have no idea.

Anyway, speaking of politics I just discovered this groovy new VPILF blog (somewhat NSFW).

Old said...

@Akubi,

You just put that together?

Akubi said...

@Old,
Hell yes you were correct!

It looks like simi.uber.alles was also correct - particularly this quote that has certainly proven to be true: Edwards is a joke.

@Old,
No, The Money Shot guy did (NSFW).

@akubi,

Of the many things you have written, I believe this was my favorite:

I think the main problem with Hillary is that I can’t really envision her in a Bollywood film – also she's stuck with Barbra Streisand while Obama has Scarlett Johansson on the campaign trail with him.

Thanks Old.

I'm trying to move on to other things like a long weekend, Fishnet Fridays and VPILF, but the CHC asshats are really pissing me off. CHC = Mean Girls 2.0.
What a judgmental pile of pointlessly vindictive loosers(tm). They make KC look like a f-ing hero.
The weirdest thing about it is I once liked the people who have recently trolled and dissed me, but they seem to spend so much time stewing in their own shit and mob mentality these days they’re unrecognizable.
What a horrible place!

Old said...

CHC, is that the Casey forum?

Akubi said...

CHC, is that the Casey forum?

Yes, it is this f-ing cesspool of hate.

Akubi said...

The CHC CUNTS claim they do not ban people according to some f-ed up definition of "asshole" that excludes them.
I'd like to know what that f-ing definition is.
Hey Asshats!
Do I fall into the goddamned mofo category you stew in?

P.S. The POS Butthurt thread is getting old.

What have we been doing for the last two years?

Cycling's Widening Patchwork World

"The build-it-and-they-will-come approach has also worked in Bogota, Colombia, where Dutch bicycle engineers were recently imported to build bike lanes and redesign traffic flows. In two years, bike use jumped 10-fold, from 0.5 percent of all trips to 5 percent."

Can anyone please tell me why (seriously, why?) McCain picked Palin? They really don't think that she will be able to get the Hillary supporters (as they certainly are not of the same political thread at all). And I'm not sure if being the mayor of Mooseknuckle, AK is enough.

She's cute and all....but I thought McCain's ads were all about promoting the "substance" of his candidacy?

Breaking News:

John McCain has just been seen with a birthday cake. Film at 11.

Rob Dawg said...

Palin has youth, fire and represents most everything McCain wishes he were politically.

The Dems have two Senators. One 141 days in office and the other joined when the Federal Debt was a ruinous $470 billion. Everyone remembers that the Congress controls the purse strings?

Rob Dawg said...

Alright, I admit there may be some small Sarah Palin as MILF vote captured as well.

[Blog note, I'm doing better and plan on returning to daily/twice daily posts on more technical subjects.]

Makes enough sense. I'll be interested to see how the convention plays out, if at all. I've heard there will be phone banks set up there in light of hurricane Gustav, so that republicans can have the "aura" of doing something.

I'm would like to do a drinking game for McCain's speech, if only I knew which words to use...

Boy, the way Glenn Miller played. Songs that made the Hit Parade.

Guys like us, we had it made. Those were the days.

Didn't need no welfare state. Everybody pulled his weight.

Gee, our old LaSalle ran great. Those were the days.

And you know who you were then. Girls were girls and men were men.

Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again.

People seemed to be content. Fifty dollars paid the rent.

Freaks were in a circus tent. Those were the days.

Take a little Sunday spin, go to watch the Dodgers win.

Have yourself a dandy day that cost you under a fin.

Hair was short and skirts were long. Kate Smith really sold a song.

I don't know just what went wrong. Those Were The Days.

McCain chose her because he is the right wings lap dog and they are keeping him on a short leash. McCain's first two choices were Lieberman and Ridge but they were vetoed by his owners.

As a third choice she is a beauty queen. Which is what McCain looks for in a woman.

Joe Biden is Archie Bunker?

Nah, just waxing nostalgic (is that the term?) for the good ole days, when we only had a half trillion dollar debt.

Rob Dawg said...

In his 35 years in the Senate Biden has allowed the US debt to grow from $470 billion to nearly $10 trillion.

Kudos to Obama for telling the media to leave Palin's daughter alone.

Son of Brock Landers said...

@NR - Hope you enjoy a clear exit piss now. I had one kidney stone once and it felt like a knife passing through my system.

I'm trying to figure how Dems can criticize the VP choice for having no experience, when the top of their ticket was in the Senate about a year before announcing a bid for the presidency. Yes, she's a heartbeat away, but Obama would be the top dog in charge. It's kind of embarassing for Dems that every speaker at the convention had a better resume than Messiah v. 2.0.

Lost Cause said...

I can't wait for the subject to change back to serious election issues.

It is too bad that conservative republicans think that the most important issues are abortion, marriage, teenage unwed mothers supported by tax dollars and other acts of immorality and impiety.

Bilgeman said...

Old asks:

"So, where is old bilgey."

Been around.

"His pick totally off. My picks absolutely correct."

Hmmm, would you kindly direct me to where you picked anything? In the thread you linked to, all you did was call me a full-of-shit Bircher.
Where did YOU pick Biden?

As for my GOP "picks" ,I didn't think McCain had the cred with the GOP Right to swing the nomination,(a problem he apparently still has, thus his Palin pick).
At the time, I figured Mitt and Huck would cancel each other out, and Thompson would be a compromise acceptable to the GOP Right.(Perhaps Thompson thought so, too. That would 'splain his campaign "non-performance").

Giuiliani's was the highest and most recent stature of any of the field, but he was even more suspect than McCain to the GOP's southern and western center of gravity. Plus, a shitty campaign.

Now as to my Dems:

I honestly didn't know between the UberFrauFuerher and NObama, thus my split choice.

Hillary we all knew and loved to despise, NObama is a "Kennedy Brand" product. Like a Ho-Ho, looks delicious, tastes alright, but inside the same creamy crap that's fattening and rots yer teeth that you get in a Twinkie.

Edwards was a shocker, but honestly...how was I supposed to know in January, what he was doing with his dick?

I do notice that Obama chose another White Senator,(Biden).
(Perhaps he thinks Joe can shake out those Blue-collar votes that he couldn't even win from Hill-ry.
"Pulse o' the Land", huh?)

And the GOP HAS split the ticket along ideological grounds, and genders as well...which was a real surprise to me.

"Has he realised his worldview is a thing of the past,"

I wouldn't break my own arm patting myself on the back for these "picks" of yours that you did not see fit to link to.

As much can happen between now and November as happened between January and today, chap.

BTW, it might interest you to know that I'm not voting for either slate.

McCain has sold the citizenry out on too many Constitutionally-protected rights,(McCain-Feingold and Gun-Ownership), and has been rather glaringly AWOL,(for an Arizona Senator), on the Illegal Immigration scandal.

Obama/Biden may play well in certain newsrooms, union headquarters and university campuses, but I don't see it energizing anyone on the factory floor or deckplates or mine-shafts.

And that's where the votes are...

Although the Jeremiah Wright scandal DID rather put a nice touch on Akubi's point about trying to keep religion outta politics,(although prolly not with the candidate she'd have preferred).

"Of course, if Bush had actually done his sworn duty and self sworn pledge to catch Osama, well, I can't say things would not have been as fucked as they are currently."

How fucked ARE they? Really?

Are we losing in Iraq?
Did they jeer us at the Olympics?
Is our economy worse off than any other Western nation's?

Nope, nope and not really.

"Of course, that is what you get when you elect a ne'er-do-well like Bush."

Very few could have done better, and many could have done a whole lot worse.

Interesting that you've seemed to be so perturbed about such an unimportant exchange from 8 months ago. Do you keep a list or something of people you have exchanges with online?

You'll pardon my brutal honesty, but I'd forgotten all about you as cleanly as though you'd never existed.

And I see no reason why you shouldn't have done likewise from whatever peculiar life-circumstances that you happen to inhabit.

Only you old bilgey, you sack of shit, you waste water, you old bilgey, you old hand pump. Yes, I waited many months to feast on your failing Bircher sight, you old bilge pump. Here I would call you full of shit, but I already called you a sack of shit, but you know, hell, you are a sack of shit. Huzzah! to you old Bilgey, you always were, and are, and will continue to be full of shit. Please predict McCain will win. If he does not I will be back here on November 5 to ridicule you some more.

The fact that with so little effort on my part has caused you untold amounts of stress...

is simply the highest accolade that I could dare to hoped for.

And to show you just how flattering and gratifying I find the idea of you filling your life with bile over such a mundane thing as a blog-comment of mine, I will grant your request for a prediction.

Are you ready?

Here it comes:

Right...about...HERE!

John McCain will indeed win the Presidential Election,(to my indifference), but will pass away from natural causes before he is inaugurated, and Governor Palin will become our next President.

(See you towards the end of January, sport!)
