E-Commerce, the Asymmetries Need Redress

Here is a screen shot from Amazon:
Ignore the product for now.  Look at the three pricing structures.  One charges tax and shipping and has the highest price.  One just tax, but a mere 7.25%versus the actual 8.25% or as much as 10.75% in nearby municipalities.  Then there is the middle product price with no tax and free shipping.  Head and shoulders the best deal.  I don't mind consumption taxes like sales tax but i do mind them being unequally applied.  Besides, who's to konw if that lowest listed price but taxed if the tax actually makes its way to California?  Any bets?

Okay.  This post is a twofer.  Now look at the product.

I may have to get one of these.  Just... just because.

Good morning all.
Two links today that you may enjoy:

I thought this was a pretty good read on the issues.

And we are having our local fishing tournament. over 125 boats entered. If you look at the participants, you can see pictures of many custom cold molded sportfishing boats, plenty of which were built in NC.

that R/C plane is pretty cool. It would make a nice addition to the DAF (Dawgfornia Air Force).

For Cinco and sm_labdlord. A perfect liberal or conservative litmus test.

Are deer:
A. Bambi
B. Antler Rats

Cinco-X said...

B

Rob Dawg said...

You -might- be a conservative.

Lawyerliz said...

Antler rates need wolves or more hunters who live to eat gardens.

Cinco-X said...

BTW, the same is true for wild turkeys these days.

Cinco-X said...

That's a possibility

Rob Dawg said...

Really? They were so rare when I was growing up that it was an event to so much as see them. I do knoe Ben Franklin held them in high regard. Maybe a good thing he didn't prevail and name them the national bird.

I met the hub AR a Goldwater meeting, temember? What I am, or am cost to, is a Bull Moosian. A Bull Moosian who recognizes that times change, and who doesn't like to see people starving, even if they deserve that, and who thinks that if enough workers are gonna be eliminated from jobs because of robots, that there should be a minimum income for everyone. And that the tax rates of Clinton I should be reinstated. Monopolies should be "busted" etc.

Lawyerliz said...

I didn't know turkeys had become a pest. A few should be bred back into to domestic turkey line.

Originally, the Treasury and Office of Management and Budget indicated the ceiling would be hit sometime in the fall, though the exact timing is only a best estimate.

Mnuchin said recently, however, that the pace of tax receipts the department generated was slower than expected over the past few months.

Hmmmm...

I think they were wiped out in Mass. These birds ancestors came from Penn back in the late 70s IIRC...

Lawyerliz said...

The reason is, those who can control when money comes in, usually the rich, are waiting to pay, hoping for a tax break. Which I sincerely hope they don't get
Trickle down does not work.

Rob Dawg said...

Trickle down damps out quickly. Rational predictable tax policy works forever.

Lawyerliz said...

Yep. If only we had that. Have we ever had that?

Rob Dawg said...

No, no modern nation-state has wver had a rational tax policy. We got lucky for a while with slow moving changes but that too has passed. In Dawgifornia there are several classes of laws that do not take effect until after the next election and in extreme cases until the legislator retires. Parlimentary pay raises being in the latter.

Lawyerliz said...

That's never bothered me. Mostly they aren't being paid enough; if they were actually doing a job, instead of merely being obstructionists.

Okay...in the face of a weak economy and flagging tax receipts, the Fed will raise rates...WTF!?

Cinco-X said...

You say that like it's a bad thing... Does it bother you when the dims obstruct the operation of government with these demands to investigate a conspiracy for which there is zero evidence?

Lawyerliz said...

Oh, more than zero,.much more.

Lawyerliz said...

Weird, I agree.

Lawyerliz said...

There is a psychological argument to be made there, that it makes us look bad. Make if just an eighth maybe?

Rob Dawg said...

Did I ever mention? Lobbyist licenses are auctioned in off years. Too the highest bidder using an open outcry white board process.

Lawyerliz said...

I had a discussion with a fellow UU lady. I maintained that Trump was crazy, she said he was merely senile.

Lawyerliz said...

Alas, I think you aren't kidding.

Lawyerliz said...

House up another 300$. House really working hard.

Help wanted signs. On Brevard, space coast. Very few abandoned buidings. When they build something in the vacant ot where the k mart used to be
Anything, then property will be here.

Lawyerliz said...

Proserity.

Lawyerliz said...

Prosperity, dammit!

Lawyerliz said...

Beggers standing on corners---very few. Need coffee. Spelling errors worse than ever.

Lawyerliz said...

Trump may impose steel import barriers.
Along with his execution orders he demanded a bunch of reports, a lot of which have passed deadlines. And which may or may not be made public.
Wasting agencies time???

Lawyerliz said...

Bernie speech if I ed that the Dems need their own good proposals and candidates, not to slide in under Trump's idiocy.
Yay Bernie!

Lawyerliz said...

Nobody out there? Helllllpp! Trump's got me and I can't get up!

LBD said...

Good Morning from the road!

Rob Dawg said...

Stupid me. I thought with a weekend to reflect that we would wake up with RUSSIA! No longer an issue worth covering. Instead D.C. & MD are suing Trump.

Lawyerliz said...

I don't think they have standing to sue. Neither does hub.

Cinco-X said...

Ya think they plan to flip the checkerboard over when it comes time to raise the debt ceiling?

Lawyerliz said...

There's profit, which should be put into a blind trust.

Lawyerliz said...

I'm sure Trump knows who is staying there.
