Living Well Not Really

All these houses cost more than half a million dollars.  Worrisome.

Can't see it well enough. Lot size? Square footage

Cinco-X said...

Looks like a bit over 5000sqft... For the lots

Rob Dawg said...

These are 3/2 on 4000 built 1970-1990. Generic snout houses. There are upside houses running to mid $700s exceptions. Nothing even the occasional 2/1.5 on 3000 below $480k.

Gotta love California living...

Rob Dawg said...

Careful my friend or I will post the temperature and forecast.

Rob Dawg said...

Check out the area for yourself. See what $600k gets you.

I(f it is any consolation, rents are even worse.

Which you charge? Ok with me.

The local new is reporting intending on the memorials regarding the one year anniversary of the Pulse murders

Lawyerliz said...

The Sessions testimony is open to the public.

Lawyerliz said...

Intensely

Rob Dawg said...

Liz, Shocking as it may be to your Simon Legree image of me, I am a 'nice' landlord. If it takes an extra month to get a new renter because I raise 10% every two years then I would never break even after vacancy and between tenant repairs and applicant fees to a third party. So, I don't push the rent. And I am generous when tenants make any repair effort rather than calling me to get it done. So I do well by doing good.

Rob Dawg said...

Everyone knows what kind of beer to drink during a "Sessions" hearing right? ;)

Lawyerliz said...

My wee rental has no mtg. I don't think of you as Simon Legree

a friend of mine sent me a job posting from the local comm. college to see if I thought she was qualified for the position. Reading thru the post..I came to these two lines..right next to each other..

Women and minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

(institution name) does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, creed, disabled veteran status, marital status or Vietnam-era veteran status in is programs and activities.

seems a little contradictory doesn't it?? the war on straight white males continues I guess..

Rob Dawg said...

I also lost a crapton on AAPL today but made it back on Ford only to lose it again in the mutual funds that are still calling bond rates wrong at every turn.

Rob Dawg said...

Remember when 3/4ths of that stuff wasn't even their business?

I object to the hypocrisy of asking but claiming it doesn't matter. Clearly it matter but the lack the balls to say it. Oh. Wait. I cannot say balls can I? Sorry.

Mike said...

can you imagine the uproar if someone posted a job saying "ethnic majority males are encouraged to apply"??

Mike said...

re-reading it..I guess they are proud they don't discriminate in their "programs and activities"..just their hiring

Rob Dawg said...

First world problem. Complaining about the cost of an aircraft control cable swaging tool. New age problem. Complaining about the cost of an aircraft control cable swaging tool that was 4x more in 1983 and in nominal not real dollars.

Is there a daily body heat index from cramming so many people in to So Cal?

Population in northern front range Kalirado is just like Kali. :(

Rob Dawg said...

Anyone see the MBTA stories about the multi billion retirement shortfall?

Lawyerliz said...

Doesn't mean you will get accepted. Interesting note. My son, because he is in a mostly female profession,.feels like he's getting favorable discrination because they want more men in social work!!

Lawyerliz said...

Not enough retirees?

Lawyerliz said...

As long as you say ovaries half the time!!!

Mike said...

well of course it doesn't mean you will get accepted..pretty clear they are telling white males not to bother to apply though.

Lawyerliz said...

Mass trains?

They have a Charlie card. Very cute. I guess that's like a forever stamp?

Mike said...

it's also funny they had a typo in their last sentence...morons.

Lawyerliz said...

Inneresting. I didn't see it that way. But I can see that you would. I wonder what the actual proportions of the accepted are.

Rob Dawg said...

In practice it is whites male or female.

Mike said...

it's a job posting Liz..there will be one winner. If you saw a job posting that said "white males are encouraged to apply" would you think you had a fair shot at the job??

Lawyerliz said...

If people were chipped like animals were, we'd know where Jimmy Hoffa was.

Lawyerliz said...

That's the way it was when I graduated in 76 from law school. You apply anyway. Women went wanted if they were single, because they would get married and have kids. Older womend with kids were told they wouldn't world hard enough because they had husbands. Me, younger, with just ione kid. . Wel, the kid might get sick. . . These are summaries of actual conversations. I have a hard time drumming sympathy, since women are not wanted inany profession preveously dominated by men.

Lawyerliz said...

Sorry for all the tyos.

Mike said...

well..not looking for sympathy..the original point was the hypocrisy of them putting that in and then bragging in the next breath how they don't discriminate..

Lawyerliz said...

Well, just a little bit, you were. Does being Asian count as a minority?

Cinco-X said...

We're dying here...10 PM and it's still in the'70s with a few point of 68°... I've gotta get the ac setup, but not tonight. We'll just suffer

Cinco-X said...

No... What's a good session beer?

Mike said...

well..technically, everyone is a minority..except women I guess (52%)..

but I think we all know who they are trying to discourage from applying..

Lawyerliz said...

In Miami I was a minority.

Cinco-X said...

Crap... More taxes

Cinco-X said...

Learn good English and get a more better job

Lawyerliz said...

I actually don't think they thought they were. There was a time that there were " too many Jews" in an institutiob. I think they thought it was obvious white males had the advantage, and so they didn't have to say it. They are pretty dumb.

LBD said...

To be honest both men and women have difference in physical abilities and responsibilities. Making it hard business wise to hire one over the other. Some things can't be changed. IMO

Mike said...

yeah men get the sweaty, dirty jobs (construction, auto repair, garbage removal, etc)..women hoard the "eat donuts in the Comm College break room jobs".. ;<)

Lawyerliz said...

I Wil never have the upper body strength of a man. So what? I am less likely to have a heart attack at a young age. I will probably live much longer. I will get interrupted when I speak. I wish we could change genders for a whie, to see what it was like on the other side. Ever read Black LIke Me? You couldn't be a women writer, if you were never taught to read and write. Nobody knows what can and can't be changed in the world of employment.

Rob Dawg said...

Ballast Point makes the best sessions IMO. Kona and Institution are close. Sadly I must admit that Sam Adams doesn't come close.

Lawyerliz said...

Grrrrrrr.

Lawyerliz said...

Hunh? Beer???

Lawyerliz said...

Nitey nite. Enjoyable, as always Mike.

Mike said...

hehe..nite Liz..you're a good sport

Rob Dawg said...

Ditto. Liz you are good people.

Mike said...

You couldn't be a women writer, if you were never taught to read and write.

far more girls attend college than boys...

Mike said...

57% of college enrollment are women (per Google)...

Mike said...

wow..just found out..as part of that CC application process..they ask for a 500 word essay on how you "enhance their commitment to a diverse workplace"

Mike said...

I didn't realize the discrimination was so overt these days...nite all

Cinco-X said...

G'morning Liz

Lawyerliz said...

Awwwwww to both.

Lawyerliz said...

Good morning.😀 alas, my hip bones hurt.

Lawyerliz said...

All this nice stuff came after 150 years of fighting, here and great Britain. PAtriarchal attitudes are there, under an inch of digging, for women, blacks and gays. I thought things were getting much better for the latter 2, but it seems not so much. Then we find out these women, many who seem to have it all are seriously harassed. And all this college-going is very recent. After Sappho, you have no great women writers for about 2000 years. (I don't know when the Japanese Pillow Book lady lived) Were there none capable of it? I don't think so.

Lawyerliz said...

And Cosby. . . Couldn't he find attractive women, without having to drug them? I guess the point is power, not sex. I realize that an actor is not the character he plays, but peope both black and white loved seeing a devoted black family man and instead of being average, he was the worst.

Mike said...

funny thing is..based on their hiring practices..I bet if you walk into the employee lounge over at that CC...the last thing you would find would be a "diverse workforce"

Lawyerliz said...

Yep, agreed
They don't really mean it.

Mike said...

accidental racism??

Mike said...

if I had a teenage son these days..I would steer him away from four year colleges...waste of time and money. Better to go straight to a trade school..or maybe a coding/programming "bootcamp" if he showed some interest and acumen in that area.

Cinco-X said...

It is really unfortunate that colleges and universities have basically become expensive liberal indoctrination camps for kids. It's bad enough that they fill their minds with garbage, but they also charge an arm and a leg to do it... WTF

Lawyerliz said...

Not exactly

Mike said...

yup..and employers will catch on soon (if they haven't already)...Bachelor degrees (excl STEM) won't be worth the paper they are printed on.

Lawyerliz said...

My son went to a 2 year college at first and lived at home, after a stint in m the army. He graduated with $2000 in dbt. But then there was grad school. . Gulp. He is in a golden cage at the VA for the next 7 years. But good salary, and good bennies.

Lawyerliz said...

I was an art majot, before that a physics major, before I went to law school. My indoctrination was in Catholicism, which obviously didn't take.

Lawyerliz said...

I regret none of it. Now I'm Taki g dilettante cousin at the 2 year college, which is calling itself a 4 year college now. Next up, American history.

Lawyerliz said...

Courses.

LBD said...

Good morning!

Not much value in some college degrees now days. Pre paid union card for job opportunity. Robotics looks like a mechanics job of the future.

Cinco-X said...

Depends on whether you run short on toilet paper or not

Lawyerliz said...

I liked the theology courses! I could been a contenda! A theologian. But you have to believe, I think

Lawyerliz said...

The hub is taking creative writing and he took stagecraft, for fun. Good teachers.

Lawyerliz said...

Some kitchen cleaning done. More to follow. So now I am sorta a housewife, who doesn't do much, and a gardener. And a poster.

Lawyerliz said...

Nothing wrong with being a mechanic. I know men who loved ot.

The Mall of the Future will have no stores:

They're finally catching on to the model that was used in the former Sherman Oaks Galleria:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherman_Oaks_Galleria

The big advantages of converting dead malls into office space include:

1. Plenty of parking

2. Easy to get to, near freeway offramps, etc.

3. Much nicer space than the previous trend of converting crappy abandoned factories (so-called "Creative Space").

My life and living was made as a mechanic not a thechniction, the difference was we still fixed cars not plug in and replace parts. Computers took away the ability to show off your talent, Computers ruined the fun. Anything done right will make money. The ability to teach yourself destroys bounties. After a trip to my favorite stature park in Loveland CO I am excited to try my had at sand cast concret art, my mind is wild with ideas. Education is just a tool, it makes you nothing. IMO

LBD said...

Great mall in Amarillo Texas, they turned it in to all kinds of art galleries and crafts stores. Big place.

Lawyerliz said...

It wouldn't hurt you to take a good design course.

Lawyerliz said...

Cat tried to do an inspection but failed to get out.

Lawyerliz said...

Home Depot is busier than ever and.has more employees than ever. I assume the same is true of Lowe's. Men like to handle tools I think. And I like to look at plants and plant widgets.

Lawyerliz said...

Dept stores have almost no employees and boring low quality clothing. If I wanted to pay a high price, I don't even know where I would go.

Mike said...

The gf likes to order stuff online (better selection)..but then take returns to the physical store (usually in a mall) if necessary...so there is still some value in having a bricks and mortar presence I guess.

LBD said...

I'm unteachale, Probably end up show them my way of doing stuff. It would be fun to take a. Course on being prospective home buying, Realtors and banksters would kill me!

Lawyerliz said...

I plan to ask a lot of questions. No consequences to driVing the teacher crazy.

My experience is most feel belittled if you ask questions they where not taught or thought of.

Usually my comments are so off the wall that the recipients are bewildered not belittled.

People think I clear around the dawghaus for fire safety. Well yes but also to maintain long lines of weapons fire.

Rob Dawg said...

Rates? Wake me when they start running off the balance sheet. To really get my attention tell me when they start selling down the balance sheet.

Cinco-X said...

They'll never make it across the golf course...

Lawyerliz said...

What does selling down the balance sheet mean?

Lawyerliz said...

Sessions doesn't remember meeting the Russian at the Mayflower hotel. Hmmmm

Rob Dawg said...

Honest. That black ABS section of pipe is for a plumbing repair and not a muzzle flash suppressor for a Swiss made long range rifle that i do not own anyway.

If you've ever been to one of those things you may not even know the location nevermind many of the attendees. Nothingburger.

The Fed could sell back their debt instrument to the banks from they originally purchased them. For now the plan is to let debt instrument mature and fall off the books instead of being pushed.

New post.
