Oscar Excursion

When I first moved to SoCal I took my little sister on the back of my motorcycle to the Oscars.  Shrine auditorium and long before there was security and road closures.  Weaving between Limos was great fun.

This is the Dolby Theater.  Very nice venue.  From 6-7AM we were there for the Live with Kelly show.  Front row, first balcony just off center.  Lots of fun.  Easier to get into the US Senate Gallery.  Ahh for the first time I was there.  "Please place umbrellas in the stands provided."  That was it.

insert {screwing up the "Best Picture" award announcement} joke here..

There were a lot of those over the commercial breaks.

It was fun but getting up early, standing in lines for hours and LA traffic to get back screams one time event.

Imagine if the Presidential Election were as messed up. ;)

happiest guy in the world today..Steve Harvey!!

Lawyerliz said...

Snark?

Lawyerliz said...

Why?

Rob Dawg said...

No snark. Was fun and different just too much work to do it more than once.

Unknown said...

Steve Harvey?? he was involved in a similar goof-up at the Miss Universe contest last year. So..takes a bit of heat off of him I would imagine (he seems to have rebounded just fine from it though)

I'm sure the Miss Universe thing is on YouTube if you're interested..

hard to tell who Liz is talking to..

big ole rally in bonds today..I guess this week is the week to lock the rates on those loans...

Unknown said...

headline in today's Mortgage News Daily pretty much says it all..

"Highest Home-Buying Demand in Years Stifled by Tight Inventory"

Rob Dawg said...

I was expecting an orderly retreat in bond prices. Seems everyone is unable to resist that last Nickel in front of the steamroller. Scares me when so many think they have a reserved seat on the lifeboat.

Rob Dawg said...

"Tight inventory" is actually mislocated inventory. I expect infrastructure investment and solar and automomous driving/delivery to shift that.

Unknown said...

yeah..I'm guessing the existing inventory (big houses in the burbs) doesn't match-up with what the predominate home buyers (millennials) are looking for...

Rob Dawg said...

Not yet. They may not match now but a kid nearing kindergarten will change that. The question may hinge on boomers. Core living can be attractive. On the other side cheaper living and autonomy can keep them exurban longer. Interesting times.

Unknown said...

it will be interesting to see what autonomous driving does to housing demand. You could argue the exurbs become more attractive (you can sleep and/or work on the way in instead of driving)...guess it will depend upon energy prices..

Unknown said...

then again..if both spouses are working...I would imagine living close to work becomes even more important if you have kids (stay close to child care/schools)...and most employment centers are still in or near the big cities..

Our house went up another 1k$! As per Zillow. This is fun!

Unknown said...

Our house went up another 1k$!

click the $ icon in the lower right corner of the Zillow web page and the daily gains transfer into your checking account... ;<)

Unknown said...

or..if you prefer the old way..just go out and use the ATM on the side of the house.. hahahahaha

Rob Dawg said...

Southern California Edison beat me to that idea.

House went up in value? Quick to the Bankster and barrow your profits to pay the property tax increase!

Unknown said...

to pay the property tax increase!

it's for the kids!!

Lawyerliz said...

Actually Floridah property taxes aren't so bad. What geTs you is the insurance.

Lawyerliz said...

Trump say health insurance was hard

whee!!

Lawyerliz said...

Wow!!

Lawyerliz said...

Headed for California?

Unknown said...

the snow?? or me?? lol

Rob Dawg said...

San Diego county got 2+ inches today. Expect them to improve a few colors on the drought map. Maybe even this week. Meanwhile VenCo is sunny and warm for at least a week.

Unknown said...

I5 (main north/south freeway running thru Seattle) has been shut down (both directions) since this morning (tanker truck overturned)..

wow...

Unknown said...

Traffic-geddon!!

Rob Dawg said...

Great story. A taco truck caught in the shutdown opened for business right there.

Unknown said...

ha ha ha ..that's funny (and quick thinking!!)

Unknown said...

porta-potty truck would have done even better!! :)

Unknown said...

Actually Floridah property taxes aren't so bad.

that's because Florida has no kids...and they can only claim they need the money to renovate the Senior Center so many times before people start getting suspicious.. ;<)

Actually, I can't think of a senior center. There are private senior day care centers.

Lawyerliz said...

Hub can't think of one either. There are parks. Catholic church has bingo.

Lawyerliz said...

Nitey nite.

Unknown said...

yeah...a Senior Center in Florida would be kind of redundant..now that i think of it.. ;<)

Lawyerliz said...

May the snow of a thousand blizzards bury your roof.

Lawyerliz said...

They were actually using something like that to get the crap out of the sand on the Jersey shore.

Lawyerliz said...

Zillow in around my neighborhood, I find there is very little for sale the quotes are consistant and reasonable. There is a nice trailer park about 2 mIles away. ManufacTured housibg? Nothing much there either.

Lawyerliz said...

The kids found the house they are buying on zillow. The asking price was the Zillow price, which they bargaineddow a bit.

If you were rich enough would you fly around the moon on Musk's spaceship? Don't think I'd have the nerve.

Lawyerliz said...

Damn. Nobody on the East coast?

LBD said...

I haven't been to the Senior center here, not sure what they have for services. I know they serve cheap lunch and have dances occasionally. Maybe someday when I grow up I might visit it. :)

LBD said...

I think I would let a few people try out the commercial space travel first. Chicken, It's what's for dinner!

Unknown said...

May the snow of a thousand blizzards bury your roof.

now we're back to roofs again!!

G' Morning..

Unknown said...

re: commercial space travel..I think the loser of each POTUS election should have to board a flight to Mars

Let's raise the stakes of these things.. lol

LBD said...

Is Tesla developing a moon rover to go with this new space travel? What would 0-60 mph be on the moon?

Lawyerliz said...

Brings a new meaning to ostracize.

Lawyerliz said...

The winner, too.

Unknown said...

Is Tesla developing a moon rover to go with this new space travel?

yes..because the old BMW moon rover just wasn't making the same "status-statement" it used to...

Rob Dawg said...

Brings back the old meaning of ostracize you mean.

Unknown said...

I've got it..people/countries can donate to send Trump & Hillary to Mars....that should easily raise the $20 trillion to pay off our national debt.. :<)

Rob Dawg said...

BMW drivers have a new way to be jerks. Last time my buddy and I stopped at the bar for a glass after hiking some inverted porcupine (the pricks are on the inside) was parked in the recharge spot but not charging.

Unknown said...

hahahahaha..

yup..they are nothing if not consistent

Rob Dawg said...

I mean, how expensive can it be to put an oxygen tank on a broom?

LBD said...

"I mean, how expensive can it be to put an oxygen tank on a broom? "

With government required stuff? Add another $10K.

Unknown said...

Dang..we're at 14.47 inches of precip for the month (after yesterdays wacky weather show)..looks like we're going to come up just short of my 15 inch target.

Why couldn't this be a leap year!! lol

Unknown said...

With government required stuff?

no worries..we'll get Volkswagon to perform the emissions tests..

LBD said...

Add another $5K for the United Broom Workers union.

New post.

As an aside, has everyone noticed the jokes we make about politicians seem to range from silly to sinister in proportion to how much of a threat they seem at the time?
