Negotiating Treaties With Foreign Powers is Treason

SacBee: Gov. Jerry Brown jabbed repeatedly at President Donald Trump’s skepticism of climate change on Thursday, contending that China has stepped into the role of the world’s “great hope.”
Brown, at a conference on carbon reduction, also announced he would be traveling to China in June to promote environmental protection.
“It’s very paradoxical that we have a president who says two things: No. 1, climate change is a hoax. That’s his first value proposition,” Brown said. “His second is that it was created by China. And the truth is that China is on a path to do a hell of a lot more than the Trump administration in dealing with climate change. So, if there’s any hoax, it’s in the White House, not in Beijing.”

And this isn't the first time.

Good Morning! from the mountains of central America!

I guess we are boring or everything that needs to be said has been said.

Lawyerliz said...

Why are you in central America? Vacash? biz? It's supposed to be nice.
Good Morning everyone. I took a short walk yesterday and got bad leg cramps at 5 am. I am resuming more exercise, after not being able to do any. It's quite cool out today. My daughter is sick of the cold in Boston. When al else fails, talk weather!

Hills of central Nebraska, a little stretch of the truth for effect. Sun coming up, slowing down on the pain and muscle relaxers and back to working on small projects.

Climate change may not be a hoax but the effect people have is not going away and the political influence is out of balance. IMO. How do we deal with it and have a realistic balance of trade?

Good.

Tax the rich! Clinton did it and things were good economically, tho I hated him. It's not goid, even for the rich to be so rich, unless they are investing in businesses. Now for some chopping. I am a little bit rich and my hub has said any number of times that we could pay higher property taxes.

LBD said...

Tax the rich just makes them shift their money out of the country. Import tax based on pollution. Makes our products competitive with the environmental costs.

150' of elevation?

Ya... Capital gains tax to 35% would cause massive capital flight. I think the answer is a VAT tax of 15%, and capital gains, corporate taxes, and taxes on those with incomes over $250/$500k single/married of 15%, with loopholes eliminated.

LBD said...

Yep, I made a mountain out of a mole hill!

The best tax is the hidden tax so the people can blame corporations for jacking up prices. What a scam LOL!

Bigger alps than mine.

I have suggested that for years. Also a no-safety-net tax.

A fine Friday to all.

Cinco-X said...

Me too... For most of the last eight years, but got a lot of push back on HCN cuz the VAT isn't a "progressive tax"...

Cinco-X said...

Speaking of which, what ever happened to Barfly...

Cinco-X said...

Agreed... Condolences

Cinco-X said...

Right...I absolutely loath politician. I wouldn't last more than a month in DC

dodahman said...

That is the problem in a nutshell. Anyone willing to live there is disqualified for that reason....DC is a fun tourist place. I could not imagine working there.

VAT can be whatever the taxing body wants it to be. It can be progressive, or not. One can exempt the first 20,000 dollars of a car price from VAT OR one can subject only the first 20,000 of car price to a VAT tax. One way is progressive, the other not so much. In my fine state, sales taxes on new automobile are capped, and only the little people pay tax on full price of new auto.

Lawyerliz said...

Should be the other way around.

LBD said...

That's my point rich people move their money out of the country to where they get the best deal. Leisure class pays little tax and everyone in the middle pays. I would hate to have a high paying full time job with no write offs.

In my plan, there's a direct tax on GDP, though I could see no tax on food, and perhaps a tax credit for clothing. I forgot to mention that under my plan, corporations are people, and there's no cap on FICA. Those taxes should drop percentage-wise as well... Since corporate FICA is based on gross sales inside the country, there's no weaseling out of them by going offshore...

Good Morning from the Flat lands!

G'morning... I'm thinking about hiking a nearby "mountain", but jeez!!! It's only 39°F outside!!!

Lawyerliz said...

Very nice outside chopped sawgrass and I'm starting to run out of sawgrass to chop. Roses have lots of buds, and have fertilized enough that they actually have foliage. My bleeding hearts are blooming. Only 3 bean plants are coming up. Will plant some more. Bean seeds are cheap. No turtles visible.

My new HP laptop refused to place nice with my even newer hp printer. helper at hp couldn't help and wanted money, in spite of both being under warranty. Taking them back today.

78 ° out now with slight breeze.
