Rob Dawg said...

Well I would hope you would be paying and wearing clothes when to take hubby out for birthday lunch.

Ivanka? Just no opinion.

Now that High Desert house. Yes they did a ton of fluffingba ten year old house and the one next door seems to be cleaned up as well. The stree view link shows some of the improvements.

Lawyerliz said...

But paying and wearing clothes. A lot to ask.
Just iced a store bought angel food cake. I know, I know, that's what the man likes. Not taking it to lunch. There are wonderful deserts to be had. Like creme brulee, which he doesn't like.

Lawyerliz said...

Yeah, but they aren't going to get their money back, are they?

LBD said...

Good Morning!

More rain, grass going wild, trees budding.

How much is a restyled refrigerator box home in Kali now days?

Rob Dawg said...

Cheap used boxes $120/sf. Stuff you'd live in $250/sf. Stuff where you'd want to live $400/sf. Nice runs $500/sf and up. Way up. Many of the tiny beach cities are back above $1000/sf.

LBD said...

Wow! Double door refer boxes must be out of this world. Only for the rich. :)

February so already dated:

Chance to live in Kali. Why does anybody live in Phoenix?

Rob Dawg said...

Liz, it's a good place to be either rich or poor. A few of us middles hang on by inertia. And of course there are those pictures I've been posting right?

I wonder if they'll suppress any inconvenient findings?

Rob Dawg said...

They already acknowledge what most here knew. Something like 7500 of the past 10,000 years were warmer than these last 50.

Lawyerliz said...

I think that's bad. Something not to look forward to.

Cinco-X said...

What's that?

Lawyerliz said...

Too hot Kali.

Rob Dawg said...

I think Liz is referring to the Great Bifurcation.

https://www.newscientist.com/article/2129185-female-dragonflies-fake-sudden-death-to-avoid-male-advances/

Female dragonflies use an extreme tactic to get rid of unwanted suitors: they drop out the sky and then pretend to be dead.

Rassim Khelifa from the University of Zurich, Switzerland, witnessed the behaviour for the first time in the moorland hawker dragonfly (Aeshna juncea).

While collecting their larvae in the Swiss Alps, he watched a female crash-dive to the ground while being pursued by a male.

The female then lay motionless on her back. Her suitor soon flew away, and the female took off once the coast was clear.

We say welcome to Nebraska as most won't stay. ;o

Unknown said...

I like to walk up to tourists as they come off the cruise ships in summer and say "Welcome to Nebraska"..

LBD said...

LOL! I bet that gets real funny reactions.

Rob Dawg said...

Nebraska allows fireworks. That kind of sanity cannot be allowed to spread.

Unknown said...

then I steer them over to my pork ribs and potato salad stand..works out pretty well..

Rob Dawg said...

Depends on what's in your so called "potato salad."

Forgive me. I've never watched "the draft." Curiosity got me. My God what a weird spectacle.

That said, Philly surely hates the Cowboys.

LBD said...

Meat is legal in Oregon? I thought everyone had to be a vegetarian.

Unknown said...

I googled "favorite foods of Nebraska'..they said pork ribs and potato salad..so who am I to question??

LBD said...

I think the state food is chicken fried stake.

Cinco-X said...

Cinco-X said...

Well... The dims and the media have spent all of their efforts trying to derail the rightfully elected president of the US... We're you suspecting a different outcome?

Lawyerliz said...

Gm is making lots of profits, but is not worrying about taxes, because of the deductibility of its pre bankruptcy losses. I hope it pays out lots of dividends.

What happened with Fannie s profits? Paid to govt? Kept as equity to cover possible losses? Paid to former shareholders?

LBD said...

Good morning!

Weather man here says we might get 6" of snow. Time to put the bucket on the skid steer just in case.

Where did all that profit for the taxpayer go from tarp? Lower taxes? LOL!

Lawyerliz said...

Wakey wakeys!!!

First trip to Chicago scheduled to see son and dil!!!

Unknown said...

Republicans publicly announced that they wouldn't help Obama at all after he was re elected, now now you expect Democrats help Trump when he can't even help himself? Wow.

Lawyerliz said...

Less deficit. Hahahahaha snort!!

Profits continue to taxpayer. Reserves need to be added not subtracted. Next couple od years profits should be added to reserves, then privatized. Feds get 80% of shares. It's hot here. AND very dry.

Lawyerliz said...

It's not fair, but civilized behavior should be reestablished sometime, at least a little. This does not include shooting yourself in the foot or slitting your wrists.

Lawyerliz said...

I expect Dems to help the Republic. That includes holding off on impeachment unail he does a few more horrible things. Or, waiting til after the midterm elections.

Unknown said...

Sec. of State Tillerson was at the United Nations yesterday discussing North Korea. I thought Republicans hated the United Nations and wanted the US to stop paying its share of its expenses. Again,Wow.

Lawyerliz said...

Don't think the econo my was affected, one way or the other.

Lawyerliz said...

Only when it is not diectly useful to us.

Lawyerliz said...

Or, when it gets them votes.

Lawyerliz said...

Paul Ryan is aging before our eyes. Usually the president ages before our eyes. Trump is as repulsive as ever, but not aging. He does that to other people.

Lawyerliz said...

I think Obamacare will stay in effect indefinitely.

LBD said...

Obama care will never go away. Let go of the cookie jar? Never, that's why it has morphed into replace Obamacare. Repubs where voted in to block the Dems. Dems are struggling to keep what little turf the have. Next election will tell if the tables turn. Problem remains party first people second.

Rob Dawg said...

Ocare like the European Union was made to be irreversible. Doesn't mean they were a good idea. That's the facing reality problem critics of both have. "It was a bad idea." "So what if it was a bad idea. There's nothing you can do about it now that won't be worse."

Rob Dawg said...

If the Trump administration is clever they can get the courts to defund the subsidies portion. That would bring everyone to the table tout suite.

Unknown said...

Everyone admits Obamacare needs to be improved. Once Republicans stop trying to destroy it, both parties can work to make it work better and be more efficient and cost effective.

Lawyerliz said...

Silly Rob. That will never happen..

Dropping off the computer to be fixed again. It just won't remember my profile.

LBD said...

Our state had a perfectly good system that did not benefit from Obamacare. IMO. States rights continue to erode.

Lawyerliz said...

Can but won't

Lawyerliz said...

Did it cover pre existing conditions?

dodahman said...

"So what if it was a bad idea. There's nothing you can do about it now that won't be worse."

Surely it can be improved. But not by partisan hacks, which is vast majority of the lot...so, it remains as is...

Good morning and a great weekend to all!
Good question Liz. Did it cover preexisting? cuz if not, it was not good.

LBD said...

Partisan Hacks passed Obamacare. Yes it did cover preexisting conditions. I used it but it was not cheap.

Unknown said...

Partisan Hacks??

from wiki
"The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, often shortened to the Affordable Care Act ... The Congressional Budget Office reported in several studies that the ACA would reduce ...... The House passed the Senate bill with a 219–212 vote on March 21, 2010, with 34 Democrats and all 178 Republicans voting against it."

All 219 Representatives in the House were partisan hacks, but no Republicans? HCN?

Lawyerliz said...

IF they are all partisan hacks, then a Republic is not a good thing. I rather think a parliamentary arrangement is better, but nobody listens to me

Lawyerliz said...

Get Tom Stone to post!!

LBD said...

Senator (D) Ben Nelson voted against the wishes of Nebraskans. After he ran an off cycle ad campaign trying to mend the fences with Nebraskans. Next election he declined to run. Last I heard he was an insurance lobbyist. I voted for him and thought he was reasonable till Obamacare.

Yes anybody who votes party first is a hack.

Rob Dawg said...

The climate protest today is generally a real strange affair but regardless of your politics this is funny:

Unknown said...

LBD, I don't like party hacks either. Representatives who vote against something along party lines even though the other party proposes a comprehensive way of doing something. Even worse are the "nay sayers",who given years to propose another solution to the healthcare crisis, never did.

Rob Dawg said...

Given the resistance of Dems Reps and deep state it is surprising how much got done.

LBD said...

First I don't see a health care crisis as much as I see a lazy crisis. My care has been excellent and very expensive. Preexisting condition with out insurance is a failure of making a good choices in life. The problem is this will not work in proper structure of the insurance design. Healthy payers need to pay in to cover what may happen later in life. If I wait till I get in a car accident and then expect to buy insurance to make a claim would seem ridiculous. Same with health care. Best to let the states to figure out what works for them. IMO.

I was reading in a reputable science magazine that something like like 30% of cancer and heart disease happens to people who did.not make bad lifestyle choices, and didn't even have detectible bad genetics. Random mutations maybe . Although I could have eaten.more veggies, I have type 2 diabetes on both sides of my family. I could have execised more but every few years I got on an exercise kick which would last 2 to 4 years. I've smoked less than a pack of cigarettes in my whole life. Some are born with type 1. Some infants have strokes!!
Yes, you can improve your odds, but not to zero.

I just spent an hour and a half weeding and planting geraniums and a tomato.

My cat escaped today, came in, and then got herself locked in the garage. She's 15, but she runs like a cheetah when she seed me trying to catch her.

Lawyerliz said...

Sees.

Why don't cats havery to exercise? They can sleep ll day every day, and then run like the wind when they see the need.

Rob Dawg said...

Cats are peak evolution. It's just one of the perks.

I promise a Healthcare post this week. For now a very short new post but a very large issue.

LBD said...

In as far as statistics go I never would have had cancer If I had died of the first heart attack like 2 of my uncles at age 47, I made it to 48.
