Housing Bubble, credit bubble, public planning, land use, zoning and transportation in the exurban environment. Specific criticism of smart growth, neotradtional, forms based, new urbanism and other top down planner schemes to increase urban extent and density. Ventura County, California specific examples.
The fires have the liberal media doing a careful dance and communities suddenly discovering that announcing sanctuary city status may not have been a good idea.
Last night the news spent a half of a second on Pureto Rico wiped out wind and solar. It is worthless taking tons of money to replace and many years to restore. Now once again I bet mini nukes would be back in action fast and placed around the island require little infrastructure. They did mention Obummer administration involvement. 💸
LBD makes me wonder about the insurance consequences of solar.
My idea of insurance is two generators, a drinkable hot tub and extra propane BBQ tanks. Come the Big One the Dawghaus will be a shining beacon when all else is darkness.
There's a gap investing in places like PR. Either disposable or so robust they endure. There is not enough money for the latter. Instead we throw money at the lowest return middle.
I think he was rather moral. He was describing the political customs of various city states, and what you had to do to conquer them, or successfully run them. This was done to try to get himself back into Florence, whether IIRC didn't succeed.
I read "Think and Grow Rich" decades ago and it didn't do much for me. The reality is that I didn't want to be the kind of person described in the book.
The fires are still wild. Two large merged last night. There's an unbelievable level of destruction. I'm not sure but it might be enough to create a persistent memory which would be good.

Sometimes the hand is quite visible.
You pict Some pict. Is that a bird?
Yes a bird. One of the half dozen symbols that make up the majority of the surviving examples. Obviously I will be posting more soon.

Just be a slow stats day at 538
Well like a half-orc cleric or halfling beserker would last even a simple job. Hardly surprising the number who wish to be an immortal Orlando Bloom.
Good Evening from Colorado!

Wind generators convert oil into mechanical structures that slowly release the energy invested over the useful life.

I don't see the point of installing anything in Puerto Rico that isn't at least somewhat wind-resistant.

If the big one hits what keeps the water in the hot tub? 💦
But there's no carbon impact like you would have if you burned the oil
Hey Liz how come no one reads his other book?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Theory_of_Moral_Sentiments
I didn't know there was another book.
I have regretfully concluded that reading a book doesn't make you moral.
The act of reading however...
I'm currently reading the prince, what does that say about my morals?
Though wealth of nations is next on my list.
Nothing we didn't know already...

Fires still spreading?
"The Prince" really explained a lot about my formerly workplace.
Good Morning!
Getting rich the old fashioned way is simple, it's hard work. Today there's an app for that.

Sad news.
Maybe the rich will now build an underground cement vault nuke, fire prepared shelter. Of course it will be done in designer fashion.
I wonder if the stuff thrown up into the air will promote global warming or coming...
I'd love one of those, but I'm not rich, and I'd never be able to talk my wife into it...
Just bury an ocean cargo container.
New post.
Yep.
