What Do Dawgs Read Anyway?

The issue came up again a few threads down. This might be a good time to talk about what we read on the web. Follows is a huge ungraded list.

Some is crap. Some is comedic gold like John Lockwood the Sacramento Realtor/Bhudist/Optimist. Some moves too slow to maintain my interest. The list always changes but have fun.

@Dawg,
You forgot Zillow Book! Jaqui is disappointed.

Rob Dawg said...

Jaqui just rolled over and slapped my bare bottom she was so upset. Consider me well spanked.

Thanks for the link, Rob. How's Sacramento, Casey?

Rob:

I highly recommend:

The Smallest Minority

(The Thinking Man's Gun Nut, when a fellow with an assault rifle philosophizes, it's best to listen to what he has to say.).

and:

The Hatemonger's Quarterly

("Hate" with a mastery of sentence structure...imagine Theodore Dalrymple with a mean streak.)

He's compiled stats and charts going back to the mid-1970s.

no HP?

Nope. Too much autopilot and the comments are too much "me too" and the commenters don't even read the other comments.

Rob, thanks for the mention!

I think you have the right mix of Caseycrap right now - just enough tidbits so we don't have to listen to his drivel.

The only thing I'm really interested in hearing about is when the DA files charges.

Do you go into the forums at ML Implode? Great for kicking brokers when they are down. :)

Bakersfield Bubble said...

No Ben Jones? I know you don't post, but you dont even visit anymore - you are one of the "old timers"?

Rob Dawg said...

I do go to ML-Implode but don't have anything to say.

As to Ben's, It feels too much like being in the cheering section at a ball game. No one can hear you or cares. Yes, I was some small part of his initial success but it took on a life of its own. I also go over to Patrick's every once in a while but our styles clash. No big deal.

No www.billcara.com?

Where's Mish?

Where's Russ Winter?

Where's NFL.com??

Where's www.bigtittedteenagecatholicgirlswithtongueslikecowsthatmakeyousaywowinfishnets.com?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Akubi said...

@The_Scum,
Yeah, where is "Where's www.bigtittedteenagecatholicgirlswithtongueslikecowsthatmakeyousaywowinfishnets.com"? Sounds like something I could "monetize" or at least have fun with...

BTW, I happened to receive the following auto-message from a local RE site today:

This is to inform you that your agent, X will no longer be providing you access to Z. This is because you either:
1) Purchased a home,
2) Are no longer in the market,
3) Are not actively using Z, or
4) Your agent no longer subscribes to Z.

If you have purchased a home, Congratulations!

If you believe there has been an error, please contact your Agent or email us at Z BS dot COM
Thank you for using - The Inside Source for Local Real Estate.

Sincerely,

The BS Team

PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL, THE INTENDED RECIPIENT WILL NOT RECEIVE IT.

I'm glad you can appreciate the "sweet organic" drawing power of that url Akubi. I have certanly enjoyed your fishnet site posts.

@ DAWG,

Yea, it (HP) has changed a lot. It was a lot like your site when it was new.

Anyway, I have posted first then read the thread in its entirety before.

And, I really enjoy Market Ticker, and I am not a trader or a market maker. He has a nice video posted under the bull-meat thread.

Enjoy your Friday.
Pece out.

CalculatedRisk is probably the banner bearer for the "Housing Bubble" at this point. The quality of posts by both CR and Tanta are excellent, and there are some fairly intelligent people in the audience as well (presently company included, as well as bacondreamz, whose posts I always enjoy).

While we're shamelessly link-spamming, another favorite of mine is:

The Prudent Bear

"The Bear's Lair" column by Martin Hutchinson, and the "Credit Bubble Bulletin" by Doug Noland are always top-notch, very firmly grounded in facts rather than hype, and very insightful analysis.

Among other professional commentators, I also enjoy hearing from Herb Greenberg (probably the most prominent of market bears), as well as Bill Fleckenstein and Mike Shedlock. If you think the finance industry produces nothing but market cheerleaders like Cramer and Kudlow, you aren't reading broadly enough.

With respect to The Housing Bubble Blog, you all are absolutely right, the comments have gone beyond schadenfreude and are now simply asinine.

I still appreciate, however, that Ben goes to the effort to collect news articles from across the U.S. and tries to assemble them into a "story" based on regions. It lets me track what's happening in the various areas, especially back home in the West. Also, Ben has a certain amount of credibility in being one of the early movers in the world of "Housing Bubble" blogs.
