Spine dislocation for me??

..and what's up with all the suffocation going on in the Mountain west??

Rob Dawg said...

I think the suffocation has to do with altitude and cold weather.

I can imagine the "sprained back" in Oregon has to do with Poorlanders continually congratulating themselves for being better than everyone else.

my guess was LA smog blowing their way.. lol

Breaking... literally.

http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-oroville-spillway-20170211-story.html

Capping days of tense planning at the nation’s tallest dam, operators on Saturday sent water down an emergency spillway at the Oroville Dam for the first time ever after the dam’s main spillway suffered significant damage.

Water started flowing down the emergency spillway into the Feather River on Saturday morning, with officials continuing to emphasize there was no imminent threat to the public or to the integrity of the dam.

In a statement, the state Department of Water Resources said Lake Oroville — the lynchpin of the state’s water system that sends water from the Sierra Nevada south to cities and farms — was rising to the point where water would flow down the emergency spillway. At 8 a.m., the agency said the spillway was now in operation.

yeah..I saw pictures of that on the news last night...incredible

what does that mean for So Cal..no water this summer??

Lawyerliz said...

They said they weren't gonna do that. Hah.

So Floridians hit hit
Each other on the head a lot. Hummmm.
Don't know anyone that happened to, but OK.

Lawyerliz said...

Would my not-a-tia count as a head injury? Or a stroke?

Lawyerliz said...

I wouldn't be be
Very enthused about saving water come summer.

It all flows downhill. Tonight's post is a bunch of links to water resources.

But while Oroville is important it is a fraction of total storage capacity.

Expect a lot more of this:

In fact, based on what officials were reported to have said earlier I wouldn't believe a damned thing that they said. A commenter said the engineers knew about this for a while and did nothing. More rain is expected in a week or so.

And I thought Floridah was stupid.

Sent water down???? Earlier reports said when it got deep enough to it would lap or pour over the edge.

Lawyerliz said...

Suffacation could be carbon monoxide poisoning. I know a Denver family that almost happened to. Luckily their sister gave them a detector for Christmas, which worked.

#2 in Florida is golf cart rollovers.. :)

"Sent water down"

Yes. There are three normal and one emergency methods. Through the powerhouse. Through the gates. Down the spillway. Over the emergency spillway. Even if the spillway were not compromised it would have been a near thing. When they had the gates and powerhouse at max and were forced to reduce the spillway all that was left was the emergency spillway. Reluctantly but deliberately.

just reading on "Open Snow" the Tahoe ski resorts are already at 110% of their total season historical averages..and the season is only 55% complete...definitely a chance at an all time record...

Well the explanations left a lot to be desired

I have been skimming various books about invasion and immigration from the Roman Empire forward and one book says that what I had been thinking of as barbarian invasions was so different that really neither word is adequate.

They were allowed in as solders. Paid by the state, but living with Romans, who paid taxes to pay the solders, which eventually took the form of the solders having rights to the To!And land, who didn't pay state taxes anymore, if I understand it right. This went on for quite a while. After "Rome fell", and was certainly a form of social organization.

Consider Texas. First it was Mexico, and possibly other Indian lands. Then it was Texas the country. Then it was part of the Confederacy, then back to the U S. During asthis time, were people from regular Mexico prohibited from crossing the border when they felt like it? This is a question to which I don't know the answer. Did some always have relatives who had always lived in the area we call Texas? So now our capitalists know they can move factories and pollution there with impunity, and pay hardly any salary, and in the meantime the Mexicans have had way too many children and an unfair distribution of assets. So some decide to leave to go back to areas that used to be Mexico. In the meantime they really have developed truly idious gangs, which liberals are supposed to ignore, to supply forbidden drugs to other North Americans.

I tell you if there is any justice in any of this, damned that I can see it.

Meanwhile the motherless children might well join a gang. .
