In Case Anyone Wonders Why i Put Up With California
We have pretty rainbows too. Sometimes double rainbows. The alligators in my neighborhood mostly hide. But they are there and not trained. This time of year we have herds of big white birds. Egrets? They are so big they used to scare my mother. Good morning. Coffee symbol.
I was prescribed physical therapy weeks ago, to no effect yet. The doc impeded by Trump's travel ban still seems to be missing in action. I continue to get better. But I'd like to know what made me sick.
The Fascinating 9 is on the pad and is due for a static fire test today, where it is fired up briefly. The saturn V once launched from that pad. Take that California. Supposed to be launched next week.
My first house was in CC. I follow a FB page about CC and it doesn't look like the place I remember as they tear down the last of the old land marks for new construction. Way to many people for me.
CC in the 70's was pretty much still a starter home town for the workers. Backwards, rolled up the sidewalks up at 10 PM, most mom and pop businesses closed on Sunday. I called CC the Beverly Hills trailer park. We couldn't afford SM or WLA so CC was it. CC recently hit a list as one of the most expensive places to rent.
Well, I think I finally managed to log into muddy. Just how long does it take to get a message curated? Certainly impedes witty remarks and responses. Getting on caused me a slight anxiety attack, as I as ways assume I will fail any contest with computers.
Also, I assumed that muddy was something more that an adjunct to CR, which seems to have gotten pretty boring. sacramento, ok, it's fixed. Inland Empire, fixed too. Lumber, bleh. Seems like if he wants to focus on KalI broke stuff, it should be roads bridges and most of all dams, as well as hardening up for earthquakes. And more reservoirs, and more desalination plants to kick on line when necessary. He's fighting the last war, aND it's boring.
High speed rail from LA to Vegas would be pretty cool (because having a car while visiting LV is a pain anyways)...actually every city in the US should have high speed rail into LV...
that should be Trumps first infrastructure project.. ;<)
Err, why would anybody go to Las Vegas, except to see the rediculous buildings and watch the suckered lose their money. Schenfreude is not an edifying emotion.
Actually, convincing cheap rich people to spend money to keep civilization going is the problem of our age. Is any thing happening to harden New York City against future floods aND drowned subways?
Mike that was part of a science fiction short story of some decades ago. If you wanted to you could give your assets to friends relatives or charity while you were alive. I think it was friendly aliens who had this system . There were no other taxes. Earth lings were very primitive. An earthling earned some money taking care of animals being sent to alien shores and much more money writing a book about his impressions, which the aliens found vastly amusing which earned him enormous amounts which the earth govt tried to latch on to. No, no, no not til he's dead, they said.
So the Mexicans are proposing to jam the US immigration courts even more than what they are jammed already. Are the Republicans and Trump ready to increase funding for those courts so they can "do their jobs"? Somehow, I doubt it? This is amusing in a sick sort of way.
Unlike elsewhere, we actually conquered parts of Mexico, so we can sympathize when individuals want to live in places that used to be theirs. Seems to me there should be some sort of Statute of Limitations. If they don't succeed in kicking you out in 20 years, say, you get to stay. Sort of like Florida's Marketable record Title act, used for houses. If you have some sort of a house claim and do nothing for long enough, it goes away. With funding, this would motivate the ice people to act quickly so the kids don't forget Spanish and their way of life and effectively become Americans, and only then be kicked out. Also employers should be punished quickly.

I have insurance money and a devoted smart hub and it is still hard to deal with the health care system after my "event".

That's Falcon, stupid spellcheck.
California is great. The people ruined it for me. :(
at the end of that rainbow is a studio apartment in Culver City.. :)
morning all..

..and the damn apartment doesn't come with a fridge!!
for new construction
I seem to recall CC being pretty run down (90's)..some new construction would be an improvement
Here's how "Area Vibes" rates CC:
Amenities A+
Crime F
Cost of Living F
Weather A+
Education C-
Employment C+
Housing A (don't understand that grade)
pretty much sums it up...

Time to go work on an empty rental.
CC seems to be the "Kevin Bacon" of cities...everybody has some connection to it.. :<)

And convincing the cheap to spend money to keep civilization going.
This sort of stuff applies to the rest of the country too. Except that Detroit and new Orleans are prolly hopeless, and galveston.

Oh yeah, you were joking.
I think Galveston has a pretty busy port (gas & oil)..and Spring Break...
Vegas can be fun..but by day 3 or so I've had enough and want to get out of there..
Actually, convincing cheap rich people to spend money to keep civilization going is the problem of our age. Is any thing happening to harden New York City against future floods aND drowned subways?
That would be something for cr to discuss, and the topic would not be used up for decades.
Can the port be hardened up for floods and hurricanes?
after a while you run out of things to buy though..who wants all that stuff around..
I think wealthy people like to spend their money on travel (& grandkids)...
Also, how to persuade developers to build homes and condos for mid middle class people, subsidized or otherwise.
+ tiny houses for the homeless..
Yep.
Stinking rich is another category.
Galveston also has a cool song named after it (Glen Campbell??)..
so it stays
it would be interesting for some country to try a 100% estate tax...i.e. anything you don't spend while you're alive reverts to the govt..
wealthy people would figure out a way around it (sham marriages and such)..but might be worth an experiment..
maybe make the choice...
no taxes while you're alive..but guvvie gets 100% of your estate
or pay taxes and be able to pass on your estate
I'd go for the former..
Galveston, oh, Galveston,
I still hear your seawinds blowing;
I still see her dark eyes glowing.
She was twenty one, when I left Galveston.
Galveston, oh, Galveston,
I still hear your seawaves crashin,
while I watch the cannons flashin'.
I clean my gun, and dream of Galveston.
written by Jimmy Webb..performed by Glen Campbell

oh how funny Elizabeth (about the story).
I'd totally go for the no taxes/keep the estate option. Incents potential heirs to keep me alive and gifting... :<)
Then again..incents guvvie to knock me off... :(
"no taxes/give up the estate" option I should have said..
