Mike, glad you appreciate the details I linked. I don't like leading people and appreciate when readers dive deeper.
We will revisit the newly forming nations of Multifornia and Cascadia later.

I'm handy like that. You and my sweetie can go take in the big city while your hubby and I speed remodel. Roman Shower? Extended composite deck? New cabinets and countertops?
There was a story recently about a lady who built an entire house just by watching YouTube videos..not sure how legit that was but if so..pretty impressive
yeah I noticed the prop taxes are pretty low in FLA..up here too (about 1%)..but they get you with the sales tax up here..(9.5% and going up)..and for god's sake don't bring your Tesla!! lol
That's great news. Lots of wildlife returning everywhere. All it took was to stop poisoning them whacking them with cars and boats etc. We used to be real stupid about simple stuff. Turn off the beach facing lights during turtle hatching season. Put some open tunnels under freeways. Safety perches on high tension towers. Even little flags in the dunes where the birds nest.
Chicago and NYC come close to CA levels of taxation. 8.5% sales tax. 1.2% property tax based on high sales prices. 11-15% income tax that kicks in at a low number. Lots of assessment districts a school bonds and recycling fees. Obscene fuel taxes. Business regulations that make things more expensive. No stone is left unbled.
Just a reminder. My mom lives on the gulf side of Florida. My idea of retirement purgatory but she really likes it. I'd be curious just how many former northeast and rust belters get a check from the Commonwealth and SS every month. Based on anecdote I am guessing a lot. Got to be a drain on he donor states.
I don't want to talk about it but the rioting in Sweden is hard to just ignore. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4245322/Riots-Stockholm-suburb-Trump-mentioned-speech.html
Brings up the old debate on who's the smart one. The person who pissed their life away and gets government subsidized everything that SS alone won't cover or the aggressive who paid multiple caps beyond the 40 quarters?
the article says the Swedish police went into a predominately immigrant neighborhood to arrest a suspected drug dealer..and a couple dozen of his buddies didn't like that very much..
I guess in addition to full welfare benefits they want to self-police also...
Swedish Minister of Interior Anders Ygeman added: 'The police do not back out, the police are there. It is good that the police intervene, they arrested a wanted person.
interesting they would need to reassure the community that the police have not "backed out"...unless they have
I do believe there are some US city neighbors police do not like to go in. Nevertheless, the point is well taken.
In Baltimore Italians tended to live together, as did Poles Jews, etc. My neighborhood was half Italians and Jews with a mixture of others. The neighborhood my mom lived in after she remarried used to be Piles and Greeks. Baltimore was always a bit dangerous, but these particular concentration of immigrants did not particularly make it so.

Interesting data..looks like a big shuffle going on between Cal, Ore & WA too (lots of ins and outs)..not surprising I guess
Ok a mexican can come in if they persuade a Californian to move to Mexico!

Still dry and warm here 60's to 70's Maybe some rain or snow later this week. Who the hell piss off the rain man in Kali?
Wating this old House. Very soothing. Very curious a but how they can afford all those renovations?!!
Hahahaha
Watching. About.
Credit Baby!
HGTV has some good "fixer" shows also. It's amazing the before/after pictures...wish I was handy like that
Fixing houses is fun, the budget not so much. LOL!
I'm handy like that. You and my sweetie can go take in the big city while your hubby and I speed remodel. Roman Shower? Extended composite deck? New cabinets and countertops?
This house wasn't just fixed, it was significantly upgraded. It's in Mass, the before version required 10k $ per year to heat!!!
Faster that your bathroom?
Measure twice..cut once!! lol
Awww, that was mean.
There was a story recently about a lady who built an entire house just by watching YouTube videos..not sure how legit that was but if so..pretty impressive
Ok, I get leaving Kali. But for Texas? Austin is supposed to be nice.
with enough home equity in your pocket..even Antarctica would be livable (well..maybe not Antarctica)...
Texas is a no income tax state also..so it probably feels like getting a 15% raise if you move there from Kali (and maintain your old salary).
Property taxes are pretty high though..upwards of 3% I believe
but housing is pretty cheap..
They can't raise property taxes too high in Fla, insuraNV ce ducks up everything.
Insurance suck up. . .
Rain report?

Good Morning!
Taxus to Texas! :)
Yup. TX looks good to many. Even the high property taxes are from a low basis. And saving $8-10 for every full tank is sweet. Light sweet even.
Texas tea... :<)
G' Morning..

What are the immigrants rioting against? Trump isn't Swedish.
best comment below that Swedish article..
are we sure those weren't pictures of Portland instead?? lol
I missed that. Very funny. Did Tri-Met suggest raising fares again?

Unofficially the neighborhood is one of those nonexistent no-go zones. The lamestream misledia takes another credibility hit.
