Never Waste a Drrought Crisis

Here is the Drought monitor map unchanged since early March 2017.

March, April, half of May all with rainfall in the Santa Barbra to Ventura County area with no effect on status.  Why?  Should be obvious by now.  Never give up power once taken.

The May 25, 2017 map remains unchanged.

The drought index includes other related indices besides recent rainfall. Here's an explanation

Local water districts need to maintain the drought emergency long enough to push through rate increases.

The City of Oxnard is still trying to push through rate increases in spite of a ballot measure that prohibited them from doing that. It turns out that they have been siphoning off megabucks from the water district for years in order to pay for unrelated expenses, while they cry about the infrastructure needing major repairs and upgrades.

And the Los Angeles MWD must be world famous for their mismanagement at this point. It's now routine for water mains to break, create sinkholes, and flood the area surrounding the break. UCLA recently sued the MWD for $13 million in flood damage from a single break near the campus. You can see the pictures here:

I don't think anyone has been able to track where the LA-MWD maintenance money went, but the main that broke near UCLA was said to be 100 years old.

Hey Dan. Glad you found us. I'll clean up your minor error when I get to a real computer don't worry. Besides this crew while motley is a decent sort. Yes, you can go to OpenID to fix that.

I restarted at the end of January so use the side bar to check out the archives and catch up.

There is also a reddit channel r/Hoocoodanode but just recently some of the n'eer do wells that ruined HCN and Muddy Econ are trying the same.

My favorite in the whole Oxnard mess is the city personally suing the guy for getting the measure on the ballot.

That's amazing.

Have any of them tried to come here? I'd guess they are scared of you

Amazing.

Liz, the reasons they won't come here are coplex. Yes, I have the power of banning last used in 2007. There is the ego issue of course, not giving me the satisfaction. There is real fear that they would get fair and decent treatment. That happened after the elections and it drove them mad. Finally, they need to sign up. They just plain old cannot risk even that much contact information.

S'okay. Taking longer than I imagined but we are getting closer to a sustaining readership.

Tomatos are amazing plants. Overnight six inches on some plants nothing on others.

So GM is now being hit with diesel emissions cheating. So who Fines and fires the EPA and states for failing to catch all of these manufacturers cheating. LOL!

I did real hard science combustion research at one of those shortsighted universities that asked me to pursue academic excellence elsewhere. I still have "The Internal-Combustion Engine in Theory and Practice Vols 1&2" ~ Taylor on my shelf. I was amazed at recent diesel power and emissions ratings. They didn't make sense to me and thought I was behind the times. Turns out the stoiciometry hasn't changed. You diesel cycle for best power you are going to get oxides of nitrogen. The laws of physics and chemistry are more than suggestions.

So this is where the HCN'ers went to (minus the reprobates)? Going to have to start following this site as I missed the HCN board (except towards the end).

Mostly a lurker (UMDan on HCN), but to stay on topic, we just have too much damn water here in Northern Illinois. Ark construction is at an all time high and the emergency meals are floating in the fallout shelters. Thank god I have a new sump pump in my basement.

SO my full name shows up? Guess that goes to show my level of experience posting. Oh well. Do I go to "OpenID" to change that?

UMDan I moved these until you get your name/handle modified.

Still say they had to see a trend at least in Colorado with their on ramp drive by emissions testing.

I see nothing wrong with using remote sensing technology as a corrective measure. Detect a problem and inform the owner of a potential problem. Win win.

As a punitive measure? Now I have a problem.

New post. NOAA makes a CYA guess at the Atlantic hurricane season.
