Governor Brown updates the State budget:
The proposal also includes $6.5 million more for the Department of
Justice, and 31 positions, to handle more workload related to the legal
challenges by the state to the federal government on sanctuary cities,
and other policies. Attorney General Xavier Becerra requested more money
during a Senate budget hearing last week.
“There are unique litigation expenses right now,” Brown said.
Got that? Millions to "resist" the laws of the land. Be clear, not attempt to change them, ignore them.

Kali not going out own way?
I called this a version of Civil War to the hub seveal weeks ago. Should the lawyers have bayonets on their briefcases?
What can Brown do to you?
Nada
The "resistance" pitch must be directed at people too young to know better. Which sort of makes sense if the Dem's comeback strategy is to capture a majority of young voters.
My mom was influenced by the Catholic.church, was all in favor of not sending families with children back to where they came from, or separating families.
"Young voters" is just the public face on the deeply cynical view the Democrat elite has of those pesky annoyances they have to convince.
>What can Brown do to you?
Just increase the taxes to pay for it all.
The tolerance for near infinte taxation amongst the remaining Californians is fascinating. Worry not for the haves as they have hedged or so I am told.
Offshore accounts and escape plans
And loopholes. Don't forget the loopholes. If it were not for loopholes the section of railroad track between San Buenaventura and Santa Barbara would be legitimately taxed more than the entire rail network statewide.
Not me!
Just had hub teaching me to edit on windows 10 on the new laptop. Sorta.
I see why hubs should not teach their wives to play golf. We did not yell, but sure exasperated each other. Since I never learned windows 7 8 or 9, or any wondowes prior to that, and he hasn't learned 10. . . . .
I am lucky if I absorb 2 or 3 things and he's going though 25 to get what needs doing done. . . Arghhhhh. and then I'm used to using touch screen and him a mouse. And so when I actually know how to do something touch screen he says do it this other way. . . Argkhhhhh. And couple of times it was easier touch screen and he's figuring it out the mouse way. . .
BOh of us had high blood pressure at the end. Mine was 3 points lower. I hope I remember those 3 things
Has Trump done anything awful today?
Windows 10 is like being the only kid in the baby pool and there are three lifeguards.
Alzheimers would explain a lot. Poor soul.
And I need them!
He has breathed the same air as some of his detractors
House up another 100$. Good inflation.
+$820. I can afford that boat.
My house went down $16. I'm poor!
Kali is the new Taxus!
It's only happened a few times but I wish I could afford something that I cannot. The new Ford GT. $495k.
Only if you take a mtg
A Ford?????!!!???
We it's pretty.
Well
Only six cylinders. Hoocoodanode?
The last Ford GT finished 1, 2, and 4 at Le Mans.
Should we try to preserve Penemunde?
> It's only happened a few times but I wish I could afford something that I cannot. The new Ford GT. $495k.
Pretty car, looks like fun. They blew right through any sensible price point, though. A real win would win building something like that which could sell for about $120K.
> Windows 10 is
Evil!
Do you race?
Ok, Why? It would be nice to blame someone other than me for being computerus dislexic.
Me Race? Nope, just a car buff who likes fast cars.
Why is Win10 evil? I don't think my fingers would last long enough to type out all of the reasons. But from a user's POV, the biggest problem is that the user interface is designed for cell phone, not a desktop. Also most of the functionality is hidden, so if you want to find something, you have to know what it's called, and type in its name.
From an IT support POV, the biggest problem is that it's unstable and difficult to configure.
From a developer's POV, it's unstable, and the clunky UI kills productivity.
For a car. It's just nutz. You could buy a minor work by a major artist for that.
Oh, I'm used to a cell phone so that's ok with me. What's a UI?
Oh, and from a consumer's POV, it delivers advertisments to interrupt your work, and sends your personal information back to Microsoft. Just what everyone needs their computer to do for them.
A UI is a User Interface.
Give me an example of instability so I understand. It forgets what it's doing ?
Oh my, b a d.
You mean the screen?
> Give me an example of instability so I understand. It forgets what it's doing ?
It changes your settings without telling you, and gives you no way to stop it. It updates whether you like it or not, and sometimes the updates are buggy. You can't control which updates are installed. You can't uninstall buggy updates. Sometimes it reboots while you are working in order to install the forced updates. Things move around in your Start menu, appear and disappear. Sometime they are adverts. Sometimes the adverts are animated. New applications get installed without your permission. Etc.
To see the real evil just try to set and keep Firefox as your default browser.
> To see the real evil just try to set and keep Firefox as your default browser.
I had to forcibly disable the "Edge" browser on a bunch of machines. So broken, so so broken.
I keep waiting for "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that."
Edge is creepy. If the movie "They Live!" had anticipated browsers it would have been Edge.
The Cuvaison and St. Supery deliveries were just unpacked, so this is looking like a wet weekend here at Echo Beach. The Scotch cupboard was just restocked last week as well. Time to put on my sweats and hit the deck!
I have my own glass!
Wait better. I have a corkscrew once used by and given to me by Brother Timothy of the Christian Brothers. It makes any bottle it opens special.
To a car lover they are art in motion.
It might also have to do with me catching a thousand shares of F @10.90 midday.
This GT is something special. That said it should be 999 built for $150k not 250 built for $495k.
Stag Mark has a new shepherd and she's beautiful! I'm sooooo jealous!
He set her up with her own Twitter account -- @RiverGSD. Everyone follow!!!
I guess 10900$ is a pittance in Dawg world.
She doesn't meow, I
Bet!
Gluten Morgan.
Did Trump do anything awful yet this morning?
It is a presidential balancing act. Golf or tweet. Clearly he must be golfing.
The media went all out coordinated at 100 days including disparaging his personal management style but in truth agenda is advancing on all fronts with astonishing speed especially considering the sabotage left behind in the closing months of the Obama team.
Pure speculation but the left may have inside information that Kennedy and Ginsberg may be leaving the court. That would scare them.
Good Morning!
Both in their 80's, anything can happen.
Silicon Valley Capitalism is spreading across America's educational systems.
Here's a NYT technology article on Googles's latest ventures into primary education. Teachers and other educators saw the product and almost immediately bought it even before the school boards approved it.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/13/technology/google-education-chromebooks-schools.html?_r=0
Neat. Great products sell themselves.
Thinking Diane Sykes. Not Ivy League and an expert on Federalism.
But. . . Will they learn to read?
Just bought a laptop to do taxes on. Win 10 abomination. Hyundai 32gb storage 11 hr battery 14" highres 18 oz. $147. Runs TurboTax. Who knew general purpose devices would become so cheap they can be single purpose devices? Google seems to have gotten this.
Specify, what sabotage?
They will learn to push the "Google, read to me(tm)" button. Google will tell them what it says that is in the best interests of Google.
Hey they already do that when you press shopping under search.
I think they will have to read and write in order to communicate with one another about home work using their chromebook as well as actually doing their homework assignments. It can bring the classroom to the home in that it doesn't have internet access for surfing. Maybe this will increase focusing on school work. Less is more in this case, hopefully.
Who needs education when you have Google brains on command. Scary is here.
Hopefully kids will discuss"Google brains" with one another on their Chrome books rather than wasting time on Facebook, at least during dedicated homework time.
. A real win would win building something like that which could sell for about $120K.
Called a 'corvette'....
Hopefully the Chromebook will have a dashboard giving each user information about time on Chromebook and the maybe such things as the number of misspelled words, help with syntax or further reading for those interested in the homework subject. It could include a lot of other useful feedback for parents and teachers too. Individually targeted help for those who need or want it.
Children need time in meat space. Life or death, in a way.
Parents and teachers are becoming the Google brain generation fast. Teachers here are have a fit about moving retirement age to 60 instead pf 55. Parenting is a lost art damaged by the working mom for decades. Teachers are on the way out to and a huge cut backs due to computers and internet. Disciple as well, the mess has been building for a long time. Those who want to learn will find the path regardless of what system is in place. IMO
We all have different ways we earn best. Some of them involve being read to while snuggling up with mom or dad.
Learn
> "We all have different ways we earn best. "
Google Chrome Education Edition wouldn't catch that either.
Funny thing. we all new exactly what you meant most likely to the point of skipping right by it.
Besides, another thousand shares of Ford is not earning so much as expensive guessing.
I think Google Chrome Education will catch what works and what doesn't and provide this feedback to educators who can replace it or tweak it. By modifying the program it will "learn" to teach better while students learn and apply what they learn better.
However I'm not suggesting that computer learning is a replacement for student teacher interactions, it's just another teaching tool..
Learn everything except socialization. Look at what happen on some blogs.
new post.
