Housing Bubble, credit bubble, public planning, land use, zoning and transportation in the exurban environment. Specific criticism of smart growth, neotradtional, forms based, new urbanism and other top down planner schemes to increase urban extent and density. Ventura County, California specific examples.
If it does get passed, Obummer care will not go away. The damage is done and no one has the balls to really fix it. Which in my opinion is not the responsibility of the Federal government. States right thing again.
IMO much better odds of it failing to pass and somehow blame the Dems even tho they have both houses, The executive, and the court majority. It's best for everyone involved really. They don't have to take ownership of implementing it and we don't have to be subjected to it's idiocy. The only real losers are the people that actually need health care and are currently falling thru the cracks of ACA.
The wife just quit her government job to go to school and I'm putting her on my company insurance. She couldn't wrap her mind around the idea of paying a 5k in premiums and 7k in deductibles before the insurance company pays a dime.
Government has no answer to much of anything but redistribution. Health care is out of control due to insurance and the ones paying for those with no insurance. Once you give away free cookies it is impossible to stop. Let's import more poverty, that will fix it!
Remember, the Repubs were upset about this one too.. I know think this is news anymore, because sadly, it is not new. As I've been saying for a year now , the man is crazy. The tweets have not disabused me of this conclusion. I feel just a little bit sorry for him. I am capable of changing my mind. For example I thought trickle down worked. It doesn't because the rich save a lot of their money. Lower ldown, they spend and stimulate the economy. Likewise austerity sounds like it would be good. It has a mild monkish humble sort of connotation . Over spending isn't good, but in the recent recession,.it wasn't good either. The MSM is not accurate, and latches on to the sensational at the expense of the important and the interestong.
But can we reasonably expect them to ignore these crazy tweets. Sadly, I don't think so.
Simply look at the extent idiots go to be the best sports fan. The recession was set up by Banksters and our Government, people could not do the simple math of affordability. Now the media has lost it's ways and T plays them like the fools they are, Disconnected.
Liz, I agree, but to headline the tweets and spend 5+ minutes on a national newscast over it? It's supposed to be the news - not Entertainment Tonight!
But speaking of that, I take care of my mom and she watches ABC News(that's why I even see the drivel) and ET. I've noticed there is often quite a bit of overlap between the two programs' content.
I'd be happier just going to a print-news aggregator to get my news.
Ummm, recession was greed and stupidity mostly. By both parties.
Media cares only about making money, not a passion to inform. They were doing awful sneaky things in Vietnam Nam days. Tried to get a protester friend of mine to set up something. Perhaps a riot. Nothing I've ever seen in person has been correctly reported, except natural disasters. I suspect that was always so.
I wish I could agree Trump is deliberately playing them. I think he really believes it while he is saying it.
I get more news and reliable discussion from different thoughts here then anywhere. You guys are part of what made HCN great. I wish more would come over. Tweets? I would rather hear about tomatoes! :)
And I have to check my tomatoes and see if they are turning red. Cherry tomatoes! The front needs weeding, but it's too damNed hot and humid. It it just starts looking greattach when it gets too uncomfortable to work in. Speaking of tomatoes.. . .
I haven't grown anything in a few years. When the improvements are done including the auto watering, we will probably do some container gardening. Currently Shepards hooks with hanging flowers from the nusary.
The hub just handed me an article printed out of policy magazine which promises that power be devolved onto cities and states, which the coservatives would like to do, say in most mayors are at least competent and sensible, and know best what would benefit their particular areas, and it's not all the same.
He and I think that the awfulness of Trump may accelerate this. (And, I might add, the awfulness of congress too, made worse by gerrymandering.) It's called a Declaration of Urban Independence.
Local governments are notoriously ignorant when it comes to savvy large investors and companies. City of Austin and the State of Texas are in a constant war over who has the right to regulate. A good example is the Uber/lyft issue. COA didn't like the unregulated drivers and wanted strict background checks and all drivers to be treated as employees for liability purposes. State has just passed a law that forbids municipalities from enacting local legislation like this saying it discourages business investment in the state if companies have to navigate local regulations. Uber/lyft left the city on the day the city regs were passed (saying they would not be held hostage by a city) and returned on the day that the state overturned them. The city is too small a bag holder (and knows it) if the company decides to take advantage of it's citizens, but the state feels it's being a bad neighbor to other cities by discouraging business.
Well, there you go. The small won. (ALTHO I hate uber, for reasons you'd understand. Nobody said it wouldn't be a fight. Or be easy, except for Trump's inadvertent help.
Austin is very heavily regulated because they've been burned badly in the past. Most cities will listen to the business interests with sales pitches of big boosts to the local economy if only they could grease the wheels with land grants and tax breaks etc. When it's doesn't work out the way it did in the power point presentation, the company is long gone, and it's the city left holding the bag. in the story above, Austin is the exception, not the rule.
The others need to learn to hedge their bets. Believe a business person? I Believe in large escrow in banks where the don't count as compensating balances.

Good Morning!
Good morning.😀.
I prefer red wine.
Are there any odds out regarding passage if Trump's evil Health Careless Bill?
If it does get passed, Obummer care will not go away. The damage is done and no one has the balls to really fix it. Which in my opinion is not the responsibility of the Federal government. States right thing again.
Morning all...

Forcing people to buy a Bronze plan and then when their kid breaks an ankle they come out of the ER with $4k debt on top is a cruel joke.

In Massachusetts a plan that pays immediately, but had copays, costs about $22k/year for a family plan

The government only want to redistribute amongst the lower quintiles, and broaden the gulf between the elites and the rest of us...
I see NY State has declared an emergency for the NYC Transit system. More on that tonight. What a waste.
Trump tweets get worse than ever.
I don't listen to tweets from anybody. Looks like fake news has met it's match. Trump can sure stir the pot though. LOL!
Back in Las Vegas on the return leg.
I love how people who open disrespect the man and the office claim he needs to show more decorum.
Well, doesn't he?
Even Ryan reproached him.
What about the transit system?
Trump has people talking about mean tweets. Want to bet he has a dozen saved that were aimed at him for every one he sent out? Brilliant.
And MSM eats it up. Just pathetic what passes as news these days. Why even watch their nightly broadcasts?
There are 300 of us and only one of him, so naturally there are more coming in.

In the recent recession, it was probably necesdary.
Also, I had a chin lift. Some bruising was involved, not a flood of blood.
Morning all... Did Trump tweet something?
Yes. Hahahahaha! !!
Good morning.😀! !!
Good Morning!
The side show shows how disconnected our country has become. Herding Adult children has been working for decades.
Not quite sure what you mean, but I'd like to. Specify.
