Innovation for me was building my retaining walls with 1 ton cement waste blocks and topping with decorative block. I have a friend who buys what ever equipment he needs at the time and sells it after he is done with his project. Some time even profits a little. Flex time un like a rental unit. Save your back. :)

The spreading use of forfeiture has of course drawn resistance amid concerns about due process and outright abuse. The Supreme Court declined to hear a high-profile forfeiture case, Leonard v. Texas, for procedural reasons. But Justice Thomas issued a statement on the case that was both erudite and blistering. It was also very humane: Justice Thomas has a keen interest in the literary details as well as the legal ones. He wrote: This system — where police can seize property with limited judicial oversight and retain it for their own use — has led to egregious and well-chronicled abuses. According to one nationally publicized report, for example, police in the town of Tenaha, Texas, regularly seized the property of out-of-town drivers passing through and collaborated with the district attorney to coerce them into signing waivers of their property rights. In one case, local officials threatened to file unsubstantiated felony charges against a Latino driver and his girlfriend and to place their children in foster care unless they signed a waiver. In another, they seized a black plant worker’s car and all his property (including cash he planned to use for dental work), jailed him for a night, forced him to sign away his property, and then released him on the side of the road without a phone or money. He was forced to walk to a Wal-Mart, where he borrowed a stranger’s phone to call his mother, who had to rent a car to pick him up. These forfeiture operations frequently target the poor and other groups least able to defend their interests in forfeiture proceedings. They are more likely to use cash than alternative forms of payment, like credit cards, which may be less susceptible to forfeiture. And they are more likely to suffer in their daily lives while they litigate for the return of a critical item of property, such as a car or a home. I'll bet the pay is bad. Local Ford dealership pays drivers by the mile on a zipcode to zipcode basis. A 12-hour roundtrip trip can gross you $100 as a contract worker. So yes, they have trouble finding drivers too!

I would think over the road and local would be different. Car dealers are Valets and not OTR drivers. Market price is still set by availability of workers.

We are vacationing to see the eclipse on the 21st of August. Will take a while Cause the hub can drive only 2 to 3 hours a week. Made hotel reservations last year, so should be no prob there.

We drive an average of 65 MPH 4-7 hrs a day lots of stops IMO. They are booking hotel rooms here for the eclipse. Star gassing here is pretty good, loved laying on the beach at Lake Mac star gassing after a bonfire. Miss the lake house this time of year.

Hi all, I've lurked CR off and on since about 2007ish, but I could never stomach commenting in the comment section. I've read most of your opinions for years tho, and thought this might be a sane enough forum to occasionally participate in. Since I know more about most of you than you know about me, my background is I'm a civil engineer in Austin and I work mostly with floodplain studies and land development. Listening to your discussions over the years has helped me form my own opinions on things over the years, especially when I disagree. I lean more left than most of the comments I read here, but not nearly as left as the typical Austinite. Introductions are hard when you've been a wallflower for a decade.

The pool at the resort is pleasantly warm. Warmer still from inside however. High West Distillery. Fancy place just purchased by mega beverage Constellation Brands. Makes most excellent burbon whiskey and vodka. got a couple bottles. 92 and 93 points.
I should add that these pools are not real swimming pools anymore. 4' 6" deep for insurance reasons. No diving boards. No deep end. No diving. No running.

Glad your are having a good time. My pool was a pleasant 84F and will get warmer as the solar heater is now working. I may add to it as the patio continues to take shape.
