†The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power [DWP] has put a hold on a
$2.2-billion plan to rebuild old natural gas power plants while it
studies clean energy alternatives to meet electricity demands.
The decision announced Tuesday follows a Los Angeles Times investigation that
showed the state is operating with an oversupply of electricity, driven
largely by the construction of gas-fueled generating plants. The report
found that the state’s power plants are on track to be able to produce
at least 21% more electricity than needed by 2020.
Californians, meanwhile, are footing a $40-billion annual bill
while using less electricity, paying $6.8 billion more than they did in
2008 when power use in the state was at its all-time high. Electricity
consumption has since fallen and remained largely flat.

California announces construction of first plant powered by Unicorn shat..
Tax hike necessary..
I guess more semiconductor forms will move production to Texas or overseas
Doh... Firms
They could use the extra electrical power for desalination plants. But nobody could think that far ahead.
operationally they've all moved...corp hq-wise..as long as they can deduct Kali taxes from their Fed bill...no reason to leave I guess
The new Tesla should fix that problem once it hits the street, since you know that half those pre-orders had to come from LA & the Bay Area.
Good morning!
Do they sell excess electricity produced to other states on the grid? Rate payers get a share of the profits?
Chopped sawgrass yesterday . Hub is digging a hole for a new. pathway in front. And cutting the evil roots. Son says the dog misses me. Taxi from airport cost 120$. Plants got watered by rain and didn't die. Abd that's life in the Lawyerliz household.
Hahahahaha.
Trump wants to start by making the air traffic controllers private. How about picking out the worst road or 2 bridge or 2 and dam or 2 and pay to fix those first. They could be the worst in 6 different states even. As a matter of good faith and gettong something done that both sides can agree on. Then air traffic controllers
Hey, wake up and post!!!
Or the worst most used dam bridge or road, one in each state. Then air traffic when projects are done, or mostly done.
I've been having trouble sleeping, and consequently trouble waking up...
Wake up reality calls. Better yet go back to sleep. :)
I suspect some states are to broke to match Fed funds to fix infrastructure. Our roads and bridges seem to be in pretty good shape. I-80 except Obamaha is great.
everything seems to be under construction up here..they put infrastructure projects on the ballot and people vote yes.
States should be maintaining their own roads and bridges anyways. Feds should take care of the interstate highways (except until you get to the large metros..then it should be a cost sharing arrangement with the states)..
Large federal infrastructure projects usually just turn into pork barrel schemes..and reward states who have skimped on their infrastructure funding at the expense of those who haven't.
One lousy week of not weeding and I have unwanted grass everywhere.
Yes, rewards for failure. The second harvest here is the government. On the local level not much gets done with out a grant.
No matching funds. Everyone has one bad road, etc.
Also no foreign contractors. This is partly a jobs program. By the time this stuff really gets Goin in a year and a half, we are due for a mild recession, I think. So counter cyclical.
LL I gave up long ago and use weed killer. Farm store stuff seems much better then Round up.
Nobody on here wants to help anybody. Everything is always.their fault.
Not.
Help who? Most of what I see is enabling confused as help for the leisure class.
Leisure class doesn't dig ditches (except for hub) and Dawg, or plant rebar.
Does it kill grass?
This is partly a jobs program.
skilled construction workers are in short supply these days (Electricians start at $50 per hour up here)..and if we control illegal immigration..will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Which is good..wages increase..which attracts people to the industry (supply/demand).
Feds stepping in just throws things off kilter..
Not always.
Headlines.
We have a new FBI Chief.
The stock mkt is going lower, if it doesn't go higher. Likewise interest rates.
No, we will have more well paid electricians, who will be attracted to the industry, as you said. From America.
Building gas plants seems to be the govt. Dawg complain because it stopped.
sorry Liz..if Florida needs to fix their roads and bridges..you're just going to have to bite the bullet and figure out a way to pay for it. I've got it..how about an increase to your nations-low property taxes??
LBD 5:08,
I bet the cost of energy production in Calif is higher than the price they could sell it for in AZ, NV, or OR.
I use one that kills weeds not grass and the other kills everything. I will get the brand names for you, then you can look them up and see if they work for you.
We have lot's of people but they can't pass a drug test. Leisure class then collects from the government. Six on six off UE, black market labor and live off the the girlfriends welfare. They are not stupid if they can figure out how to game the system.
"I bet the cost of energy production in Calif is higher than the price they could sell it for in AZ, NV, or OR."
If the rate payer covers all the production cost then they sell at a wholesale rate the rate payer does not get. We are public owned (last of the few) and sell the excess production through Tri State energy.
LL, both are Gordon's brand one is LV400 Golf courses use it as I recall. the other one is Big N' Tuff. kills everything.
I use Roundup and Grass Getter. I don't have weeds in the grass but lots of grass where it doesn't belong.
Not just because my kid works for the evil empire that makes Roundup but because I know a lot of chemistry and biochemistry that I have no issues with the product. It's safe and works. The dishsoap in the formula is probably worse for you than the herbicide itself.
New post. Be sure to click trough and check out your area. I can safely bet that everyone here is in an aging county.
Massachusetts spent $12-20 billion in the big dig in Boston. Everyone else's roads were neglected. It's hard for me to get excited about infrastructure work that I'll have to pay for, but for which I'll not benefit.
IIRC, Scott's 2-4D is a broadleaf herbicide, and Roundup kills anything green. There's probably others
