Gas Prices Frozen at 2002 Levels

Heck if the bimbo at the FDIC can call for ARMs to be frozen at their teaser rates why can't I call for the EIA to do something for me?

No creeping moral hazards in the halls of government. No siree.

I agree Rob. We should also get government to lower the price of hamburgers. $.25 should do it.

How come the price of technology manages to always go down over time, while nothing else does?

I'd argue that the Shiller curve of inflation adjusted housing since 1890 shows that housing is getting a whole lot cheaper. I know, them's fightin' wurds but I think I can prove it. And food, we spend a whole lot less of our wages and eat a whole lot better and more than ever before. And until very recently commodity prices were undeniably lower over time. I suspect they may retrace a lot of that despite Chindia.

If we're going to do something for the people, let's do something J6P really cares about. Roll back the price of Beer! Yes, the high carb wonder of the Laz-y-boy set.

Got popcorn?

Chipotle mashed potatoes with plantains!
After a long "looser W-2" day, I’m somewhat behind with the fishnets (does Anya’s white fishnet-ish sarong scarf "thingy" count?), but it’s coming soon.
If we are to believe fliptard, how about playing the very last game of 6 degrees of Casey Serin game.

@Dawg,
Are you referring to the corn conspiracy?

Gas is $2.48 here as of this afternoon.

The biggest mistake Carter (and Ford) made was to pander to the populist idiots and beat up the oil companies via "windfall" taxes and price controls. If these stupid 1970s policies were in place currently we'd be seeing gas lines right now.

People freak out over $3 or $4 gas. Oooh, an extra $10 per week. BFD. Go buy a smaller car. Not being able to buy gas when you need to is a pretty BFD.

Akubi, you poopoo'd Casey in fishnets. How about G?

I just added a comment to the Casey topic. I have really enjoyed this blogs economic discussions so I wanted to keep them relatively Casey free.

WaMu is taking a -75% hit announced today. And so it goes.

ps. My Casey comment is on the casey thread also.

Dang Jeremy, nice find.

Casey emailed me this morning with the story.

You'll note he is doing the Dr. Phil show. Two days ago he got a stack of legal papers from G. I guess she'll get whatever she wants considering Casey is in Phoenix.

Rob Dawg said...

I'm dumbfounded. Does he really think some statuate of limitaions has expired?

The only way the Dr. Phil show would have him on is to help him. Dr. Phil is a real doctor and the creed is "first do no harm." The only way a TV appearance cannot prove harmful to all concerned is if there's an agent waiting to arrest him. THere are still thousands who will make it their business to see that he never ever profits from what he's done. There were a great many that were willing to let him toil in obscurity but who will also rise up in greater anger should he attempt this comeback. Hah, "comeback" as if he was ever in a place worth returning.

Rob,

I too agree he still has consequences yet to take place. I also think he belongs on the Internet. For some reason that is where his skills and appeal lie.

However, considering the potential legal action he faces, perhaps he should have gone anonymous like Tanta and C.R. until things actually blow over. The Statute of Limitations on mortgage fraud is five years. He could very well remake himself and then get a very nasty surprise in four years.

Something else to consider is Utah has a nasty little felony statute called communications fraud. One who lies on mortgage applications, but doesn't get charged by the Feds can have that little gem come after them. I wonder if California and New Mexico have similar legislation.

I'm starting to get riled up by his little return. Not that he's returning, but that not two days ago he said he would be gone from the Internet for a very long time. Maybe in Caseyland 48 hours is a long time? This sophomoric "take away" marketing worked for a while. He's going to have to step up his game if he really wants to be successful.

Ultimately, Casey is still a liar and a manipulator. He promised Keith some sort of exclusive to his story and then promptly CC'd me and at least Duane. I felt the need to give Keith some sort of exclusivity and didn't publish the message in its' entirety. But then Casey emailed a follow up, knowing I would publish it.

The Casey story is a double edged sword. If you ignore him, someone else will write about him. If you don't ignore him, you feel like an enabler.

I thought Dr. Phil was a clinical psychologist rather than an MD and that's how he manages to get away with his shenanigans...

akubi,

Right on. Personally, I find Dr. Phil irritating and think he's more of a marketing machine than a "helper" of people.

If you're ready for a downturn, life is very good.

But sci-fi porn? Hmmm.... No there is a future growth industry!

@segfault,
When "Dr." Phil was on after the local news in the morning, I'd occasionally watch his show when running late and the manner in which he annoyed me motivated me to get to work and away from the TV ASAP; in that sense, “it wasn’t all bad”. Since he switched to an evening schedule, I haven't followed up on his BS - other than hearing the teasers during the morning news.
Not only did Dr. Phil annoy me but his wide-eyed, teary audience who looked up at him like he was an evangelical preacher (think Jim Baker) and the "sensitive" son and fawning wife. I bet there are some rotting skeletons somewhere in their closet.
