We Pay for Our Snow

At least our snow is behaved and stays on the slopes.

Very nice. I made a short sledding slop this winter. We had a blast, I even took a shot at it. :)

I hope he still got his "Participant" trophy.

Went to Wally Mart today and still wonder why they don't have a health clinic in their store mall. Seems it would be a good way to discount health to their employees for simple Doctor/Practitioner visit. The spin off would be low income benefit capture Medicare/Medicaid and pharmaceuticals/drug business on site. Real PR poke in the eye to the haters.

Went to Yoga, ahhhhhhh.

Side corporate benefit. Employees come in to work if they aren’t feeling well.

Useful idiots who don't want to be shot. Gosh.

A more informed person would be protesting against anything but inanimate objects that are among the least likely means of being involved in their untimely passing.

hopped up by NRA doctrine and propaganda

LOL! Oh man, now the Bill of Rights is "propaganda"? Luckily by design the Constitution is damned near impossible to change, otherwise you'd have lost your right to free speech already.

Also, historically everything goes in cycles, therefore we may already be passed the pinnacle of anti-gun sentiment. Issues that are all emotion and no facts tend to fade quickly.

All those years in LA and never made it Baldy. [Never hit Wrightwood, either, although did manage Big Bear.] Drought made the local mountains pretty dry the last decade, and when we wanted snow we'd make the longer drive north to Tahoe & Mammoth.

Now Mt. Hood is 1.5 hours away, Bachelor 3, and Whistler 6. I think we'll manage.

Good Morning!

Not much interest in snow in Kali. Did move to Denver and loved the snow and still do like the four seasons, however winter is a couple months to long.

53F today a little rain turning to about an 1" of wet spring snow then back to warming up!

Walmart DOES NOT want to provide onsite healthcare for it's employees. These are people that are forced to work, no matter how bad they feel. Go to work at your scheduled time or lose your job. The company would rather not know that their employees are sick. Imagine the lawsuits of being forced to work even tho the company knows you are ill as diagnosed by an onsite physician. This is the same company that would rather hire 100 employees at 32hrs/week than 60 full time employees because it's cheaper if they don't qualify for benefits.

You might be contagious. How low does unemployment go until they change their evil ways?

LBD said...

Most people I have meet have think it is the best job they ever had. Most low income jobs are low wage, part time due to government subsidies and laws. The clinics don't need to be Walmart owned but leased space/franchised separating Walmart from the care provider and still making a good profit and benefit to employees. People go to work sick anyway. I did and I owned the business, Workaholic thing. IMO

I managed the front end of a walmart for 8 months when I was 22. It was not the best job I'd ever had even then. Terrible benefits and low pay.

LBD said...

Worst for you. For others it is the best they ever achieve. Picking cantaloupes at 14 wasn't the best job I had either. At 23 I owned my first business. Not every flower blossoms nor at the same time.

Howdy Liz!!!
Up to 2feet of new snow at Donner Pass. More on the way.

Just as an informational note. I’ve been distracted general contracting and designing changes to the Dawghaus. The deck is expanding by 40% and the kitchen is soon to be scraped back beyond the studs and plumbing.

I see New England is about to get another dose of global warming. The fourth in two weeks. Just in time for spring.

Lived north of Denver from 69 to 84... the winters were MUCH milder then.

The standard measures of (un)employment simply don't work these days; the proof is the lack of any wage inflation pressures. DC has the means to better calculate jobs but no political will to do so.

Rob Dawg said...

If we could see median wages rather than average wages there would be a riot.

TJandTheBear said...

I'd like to think so, but people just don't care unless they can personally relate.

I lugged watermelons at 15. The pay was pretty good for the era. $3.50/hour? Lugged over 100 tons my first day

Cinco-X said...

They've reduced the amounts in the last day or two. I guess the storm is heading out to sea

I suggest you fix up your shed with a comfy bed for your inevitable exile. Will we be hearing able you installation exploits a year from now? 2 years? Junk on a desk accumulates as a function of size. This I know person ally.

Lawyerliz said...

Shed of spousal exile, that is

Lawyerliz said...

Ahhh, didn't realize that. I should have.

Lawyerliz said...

When we see Wal-Mart finding it impossible to recruit, then we will know all is well. Then we will have a big bust. I think the year and a half I posited is almost up. I give in another year now til boooommm.

Lawyerliz said...

Happy Saint Patrick's Day. Don't like cabbage.

LBD said...

Good Morning!

Walmart has supposedly raise the base pay a couple of times lately. Ours went from 4 self check outs to 8 a few years ago. They where all busy the other day and only a few checker where open. I look for a job reductions where you can't see them. Maybe they have already started trying to catch up with Amazon. Funny you don't hear screams about their wages as they have never had the visible jobs Walmart does. PR lies. IMO.

Green eggs and ham!

My baby is getting her first job. Tar-jay. And they aren’t stupid. She is so beautiful and naturally friendly she’s starting as on the floor customer service.

Rob Dawg said...

Walmart has automated behind the scenes. The only stocking done by humans is the last foot from prepackaged pallet to shelf. I expect that is not long for humans either.

This robot only “helps” humans.

Lawyerliz said...

I would guess that only 1 in 10 know the difference between median and average.

Lawyerliz said...

I like Target. They have medium quality cheap. Not cheap cheap like Wal-Mart. I only go to Wal-Mart when the hub drags me. Thes people are nice, as they are at home Depot
.

LBD said...

I love the won't change the job count but leaves open hours worked reduced. Long term a drop in jobs not rehired takes effect. Business wouldn't use robots unless they do reduce labor cost and there is more then one way to do it.

Some money guru on a financial blog is predicting the bull market will last 20 to 25 years. another is tellin the lower middlee class they should save $100 a month, which will scare them out of saving anything. They should start with $10. Inputting all the change every day into a big glass jar. Real people, like my former clients, are incredibly spendthrifty.

Lawyerliz said...

That guru is scaring me. That predicting is made when things are about to fall apart.

Cinco-X said...

For normal distributions they're the same

Rob Dawg said...

1 our of 10 or slightly more than half the people don’t know that.

Rob Dawg said...

No one can predict 2.5 years never mind 25.

LBD said...

To the Moon Alice! Yep they are running out of steam, so suckers need to buy in now before the market goes to 50K and they are left out. LOL! sadly.

Lawyerliz said...

Can I predict a year?

Lawyerliz said...

Worse, cyber currency. The Big Short Guy predicts no problem, for whatever that's worth.

Lawyerliz said...

I cleaned the kitchen.

LBD said...

I predict in a year from now I will have had a Birthday and be a year older. Past that nope.

Lawyerliz said...

Hahaha. There is no normal.

Lawyerliz said...

Me too, what a conincidence.

Rob Dawg said...

New post. Well, an update to the same post this time of year for the past dozen years.
