The lot is 2,600 sq ft. That's smaller than mamy houses! It's not even large enough to rebuild a nice home on.

And it's WAY overpriced. Zillow prices it at $2.4MM.

wow. is the beach behind the house at least private? because in the people's republic of california usually beaches are public, with the "owner" having the privilage of paying taxes so everyone can trapse over their backyard legally.

Wow...one reason I don't overpay for crap sized homes in L.A.

Too many 1200 sq.ft shoeboxes here going for 700-800K in prime areas.

I just bought a 2300 sq ft townhome in a prime area of the OC for $640K.

I plan on living in it, nice backyard, gated community and 10 minutes from the beach.

No, that price can't be right. I used to live in that neighborhood - about six houses down from that listing. I only lived there 1 week, though, because the place had rats in it. The property manager found me another place about three blocks away and I lived there for almost two years.

So anyway, that neighborhood is OK for when I was right out of college, but it's pretty crappy. A Navy base is right next door, a lot of people play loud music and have parties, the beach is sandy but there's rarely any surf higher than 2', and I think the water made the top 10 list of most polluted beaches in California more than once.

Plus, Oxnard is right next door. To give you an idea of what Oxnard's like: I went through no less than 4 DUI checkpoints on my way home from work over 1.5 years. I think it was an excuse to harass the gang bangers. The Starbucks two miles away was held up. The pizza parlor had a gang fight and when police responded, one gang member tried to run over the cops. I learned this from the firemen in the Ralph's who were buying bags of ice to apply to all the gang members with knife wounds. I stopped doing my laundry at the laundromat in that shopping center after 6 pm after that one. The houses in the neighborhoods only two miles away have bars all over the windows.

I rented a 1 Br/1 Ba house for $900 from 2000-2002 and then the owner kicked me out to sell it. I think he was asking $300,000 or something. I hope he doesn't see this listing.

Oh, come on guys, join us in the midwest! Sure it's -1 degrees here presently, but for less than the price of that property you can buy a sweeeeet 103 unit apartment community in a park-like wooded setting, with swimming pool. (95% occupied)

Or an 6 bedroom house with a golf course. Or a couple of industrial complexes.

Or a 50 acre multi-use with cottages, campgrounds, farmland, and a restaurant/bar.
(Seriously, it's listed.)

One could start a little Utopia here.

(Eww. That does have a Jonestown-esque, drink the koolaid ring to it, no?)
