WTF? Casey posits:
"Have 12K set aside for a year of school at UC Davis which she will transfer to in the summer."
Ummm, no. Really, no. The UC system makes CashCall look like a doting daddies' advance on allowance when it comes to their money. They smell fraud faster than Sputnik smells two week old ahi on a bed of calamari offal.
My HS Junior daughter is planning on UCD as one of her first choices. When I say no it isn't just Mrs G getting in "for a year" (not) starting this summer (not) if you can scrape together (not) the $12,000 (not) expenses. So, when I say no, it is not a prediction, it is a promise. If I'm gonna be slappin' down 17 large plus living expenses for three years (she's smart like her mom) then I'm sure as heck not gonna carry your bad debts as well.
Casey, you do understand that by the start of the summer term you'll be needing about $120,000 before the $12,000 comes available? Education is an investment, you have no investment funds available and I do not give you permission to use my daughters'.

Can someone in her situation get any financial aid?
From what Casey said she's been working on a two-year degree now for well over two years. She should be finished with the community college at this point.
I noticed he stated in one of the comments that she is not getting a job this month as previously mentioned, and the way he brought up the UCDavis thing, I get the feeling that either he doesn't want her to work or she doesn't want to work. It could be a cultural thing, or maybe she's just lazy too, LOL.
Okay, first off, I call bullshit. No, make that BULLSHIT. If a person can set aside $12k for edumakayshun, how the fuck did they get into this mess of debt? WTF?!?! I'm not buying it.
Second, a little anecdotal history about the Soviets. A lot of the Casey/Galina saga is difficult to understand, since we're not commie pinkos. I just got off of the phone with my friend that is married to a Russian woman, living in Volgograd. They tell me that Russian women are very loyal to their men. Very loyal. They will hang on to the bitter end. We Americans look at Galina, and we're baffled that she hasn't divorced Casey yet. Equally, the Russians look at us and our high divorce rate, and are equally baffled.
Also, we as Americans forget that we have a very different work ethic than the rest of the world. Understand that for the communists, being a hard worker wasn't necessarily a good thing. One of the base tenants of communism was the notion that all were equal. There was no getting ahead. We sharp and good looking posters of the Exurban Nation would have to wain in line for a roll of woodchip toilet paper, just like everyone else, regardless of how hard we worked.
That said, for people living in Communist countries, the only way to get ahead was to be an athlete, a politician, or to skirt the rules altogether. From what I am told, not playing by the rules is a good thing.
We expect that Casey should think like we do, but he isn't a first-gen 'Murican. He is an immigrant. He came here after spending half his life in a communist country. He does not, nor will he ever, see the world the way we do.
If you want a better feel for the mindset, read some Ayn Rand...

Um...Casey moved to the US when he was 12. When do we stop providing excuses along the lines of "Oh, he's from a former Soviet country and that's the way things are done there"? Doesn't make it RIGHT. I agree that he may have a different world view than somone born and raised all their life in the US, but please. Don't excuse stupidity.
(And for those who are interested, pure communisim - in the Marxian sense - has never been practised. It was the corruption that happened along the way that led to people skirting the rules.)
At any rate, Mr. Casey is all offended now: http://iamfacingforeclosure.com/132/2007-goal/#comment-23283
Oh and furthermore, the notion of "equality" depends on how you're defining it. It sounds like you're defining equality in the classical liberal sense of "sameness" while talking about Communism and Socialism where the idea of equality was more along the lines of "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" (or if you must use a liberal term - "equity")
I can't believe Casey thinks corporate credit scam is going to work. Here's what it sounds like he's doing (correct me if I'm wrong): when he took out that loan a while back, he bought a shell company that is four years old. Since the company has been "in business" (on paper) for four years and has no debt, presumably corporate lenders will see it as lower risk and credit-worthy. That company (Casey + some old paperwork) will borrow money and lend it directly to Casey, who will use the $30k to pay his wife's credit cards and tuition. This is, of course, all a fraud. I can't believe he's admitting it in public like it's a normal thing to do.
The comment about Russian women being loyal is interesting. Has Casey said if Galina is an immigrant too? Her name sounds like she does have Russian roots, but they might have been a few generations ago. In the RK video, Casey seems quite proud that his family distanced themselves from the immigrant community. It seems like the rest of his family does pretty honest work. Why is Casey the exception?
@Jamba Juicer:
Regarding the corporation idea, how much would something like that cost? I looked up "four year corp" when I first read it but I didn't find anything regarding costs. I would imagine that some money would have to change hands?
The best part is when Casey says he's working on putting things in his name. The name CS should send a chill down the spine of anyone in REI or otherwise. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind thinking that investing with Casey is a win-win!
I have two friends who were both born in Russian but now live in America. My take on their worldview is anecdotal, but at least it's based on real women.
Russian women expect to be taken care of by their husbands and they can be high-maintenance. They care about appearances and financial stability, and enjoy looking successful. That does not mean that they will not work (one of my friends has an MBA and a very good job), but they do assume that their husband will be the primary breadwinner in the family.
However, I think that above and beyond those generalizations, Galina realizes that what Casey is doing is risky, and she does not intend to be the loser by it. Hence her insistence that her credit be preserved at all costs and that her education be made a priority. She probably does not want to divorce Casey (the observations above about divorce in America versus Russia is correct) but even so, if things go seriously south it's not out of the question for her.
Anon-
I am by no means trying to excuse his behavior, I never said anything of the sort, really. I was just trying to throw a blanket statement about why he sees things differently than we do. Just generalizing, and like I said, its anecdotal, after a 30 minute conversation with an ex-pat and his Russian wife early in the AM, long before I was through my strict coffee regimen.
Jamba-
Casey is buying a "business" that has existed for four years. Some $$$ is changing hands, as this business must have some value, but that can be a dollar for all we know. Think Enron. Without details, we'll never really know what's going on, and given Casey, whatever he DOES tell us will be total bullshit, spun to make him look good, or to hide the fact that he fooked hisself.
The whole thing is shady at best, and more likely deeply fraudulent.
I am sticking with my theory that there are coffee cans full of cash in the backyard. 12k for school? Money to buy a corp? C'mon...

Enough of this already. I am calling every single law enforcement agency I can think of and demanding that they arrest this assclown. He has enjoyed living off the rest of us for too long.
I am sick of scum like Casey. I work hard for a living, pay my taxes, play by the rules. This snot nose immigrant punk thinks he can commit all of this fraud and just give me the middle finger.
NOT TO ME.
If you want to do something,
rather than talk about it, I suggest you pick up a damn phone, call the appropriae people, or shut the hell up about it.
(yeah, I'm pissed.)
Meandering aside along the lines of the Russian thread…While my parents were cleaning the attic yesterday, they came across this paper I wrote in middle school about nuclear anxiety (about the time Casey was a toddler). In addition to interviews with kids in my area, I referenced some studies about the fears Soviet and American children have about nuclear war. Reading this very Reagan era paper was like entering a time capsule and there seems such a complete disconnect between where we were about 22 years ago and where we are now. Sure, it’s great we haven’t blown ourselves up yet, but I can’t say we’re any safer or saner – just more fragmented and confused along the lines of Casey’s bizarre mind.
Casey is big on no-down deals at any price. Surely any upfront costs for ant scheme are financed and/or ballooned.
All fraud all the time is his new motto. Everything else is some form of blog addiction.
Hi all - luker for a week or so, first post. Nice to have a place where open posting welcome.
This may have been discussed here earlier (sorry if so). I posted this for Casey - don't expect him to allow it, much less answer it.
Casey - is this your Chris?
http://www.myspace.com/chrisrecord
"Nouveau Riche Real Estate Investor & Business Owner"
Anyone know what exactly happened to Trainwrecks.net? It looks like Casey may have lost his title of Oh, Honey Trainwreck of the year...
No clue if that's Casey's Chris or not, but I'm blown away by his apparently complete lack of awareness of the pejorative subtext to the phrase "Nouveau Riche".
Huh?
http://buyingapartmentbuildings.wordpress.com/2007/01/14/welcome-to-buying-apartment-buildings/
That MySpace page is the same Chris that Casey works for. It's been posted here and in other forums before. The name "Nouveau Riche" has to be be an inside joke by the scammers that run the school. I can't believe that people pay thousands of dollars to go to the school don't even know what the phase implies.
I think Chris might have a scam of his own going here with the "job" for Casey. He probably lured Casey with a job offer and then convinced him he needed more training at NRU. Casey pays the tuition (not sure how much it is, but I'm ballparking $10k) and Chris gets the 50% referral commission they offer ($5k). Chris then pays Casey $3k for a month or so worth of "work" and pockets the other $2k. When Casey doesn't fulfill his obligations (which we all know he won't), Chris will let him go while making cash on the deal and maybe having some computer work done too.
Yeah, that's THE Chris Record that Casey works for as a "consultant." I posted about the irony of "New Rich" University on Casey's site but he didn't approve the comments.
Maybe it's because I have a PhD in economics or because I can recognize a scam but if the "New Rich" University has cash-flow positive properties just waiting for me to buy why wouldn't they buy them instead? The answer, I believe, is pretty obvious - there are no profits to be made.
Regardless, I'm sad to see Trainwrecks.net gone, it was a great time waster at my JOB.
Apparently he's started a new blog and there is no comment moderation. This should be interesting.

Somebody owes me a new keyboard:
My goal for 2007: buy an apartment buildings with $5,000/mo positive cash flow by September 10th, 2007. This will allow me to “get out of the rate race” like Robert Kiyosaki talks about. Financial independence at 25 years of age!
Coffee everywhere.
-jbjbj
So let me get this straight - he seriously thinks he can climb out of a $2.2 million hole at the age of 24 to achieve financial independence by 25?
Well, if he can pull it off, he'll be deservedly regarded as the greatest financial genius of the age. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he finds a cure for cancer at 26.
At least on his planet.
Re: Russian marriages - Bullhockey. Divorce rates are MUCH higher in Russian societies than in the US. As are rates of infidelity & domestic violence.
A simpler (and to me more believable) explanation is just that Galina is every bit as stupid as her husband is.
LOL...typical of every Russian I've ever known. They are like kids when it comes to credit and debt.
They LOVE to buy EXPENSIVE items they can't afford. Poor little Casey has taken it to new levels.
Casey issuch a black hole I don't think any one socio-political-economic stereotype can explain him. More than anything I'd like to see his Stanford-Binet score. I'm guessing about 85-90.
