Sustainable Cities Report

ii
The U.S. Cities SDG Index aims to help urban leaders address the many sustainable development challenges affecting their cities. The Index covers the 100 most populous cities (measured as Metropolitan Statistical Areas, or MSAs). It synthesizes data available today across 49 indicators spanning 16 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that were agreed upon by all countries in September 2015. The data provides a more holistic and comprehensive assessment of sustainable development challenges faced by U.S. cities than available through other metrics. Results show that all U.S. cities, even those at the top of the Index, have far to go to achieve the SDGs.

I'm always leery whenever I see words like "holisitic."

Interesting results.  An absolute must read for people worried about the sustainable agenda.  Interesting that Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura ranks so high.  O-TO-V ranks number 2 of the 100 MSAs for "Zero Hunger."  How is that measured?  Obesity, low birth weight and infant mortality.  Fascinating.  And who has the best education score?  Los Angeles.  Where does that come from?  Percent Enrollment, dropout rate, quality of higher ed, percent with college degree.  Not sure about that.

Why would I move from #3 to #5?? You guys need to get way more holistic.. ;<)

Jim the Realtor said...

Why?

On average, there are 266 sunny days per year in San Diego, California, and the number of days with any measurable precipitation is 23.

On average, there are 152 sunny days per year in Seattle, Washington, and the number of days with any measurable precipitation is 92.

Dry out and get a tan here!!!!

ha ha..yeah i know all about that..spent a good chunk of the 80's down there. Somehow i don't think being poor and in my 50's will be as fun as being poor and in my 20's was down there.. ;<)

LOL Agreed, there was nothing better than being poor and in our 20's in San Diego!!

yeah..remember..they used to let you carry alcohol (no cans or bottles)into "The Murph" to watch the Padres. Fill up a milk carton with beer..$5 ticket..that was a cheap night out..lol

I always thought San Diego would be the best place to be a professional athlete..great place to be young and wealthy..weather is great..if you have a good year the fans love you..if you don't..no big deal haha

This has Oxnard better than Boston. That's mad. Oxnard s name alone would disqualify it.

I laughed at Albany/Schenectady right on San Diego's tail..

Albany. Because Buffalo needs company.

"The Murph" to watch the Padres.

Always my favorite place to watch a baseball game. Plenty of easy parking, beer was flowing, and yes, a cheap night out to watch a mediocre team.

The owner insisted he needed a new stadium downtown to be able to compete. He convinced the voters, and boom - Petco Park!

Except he never got the high-priced stars - but they let him buy up all the local real estate for him to develop and he made a killing on it instead. Then he gets divorced and has to sell the team, and the bums who have owned it since are on the econo program and just hope their minor-leaguers hit the jackpot some day.
