Hawk

A few minutes ago while languishing in the garden shed of spousal exile I heard a rustling above the bird feeder just outside the door.  This fellow was just chilling.  I just turned and snapped this pic.

Tent camped in Big bend last year. Camp ground had a cinder block constructed bathroom and bear box at every plot. $8/night with drive up access.

I am embarrassed to admit. I thought Big Bend was a state park. I don't know how I missed that. Great country.

Lol... Went out for a walk at lunch and saw 3 crows chasing a hawk. The hawk was only slightly larger than the individual crows. Was kinda weird

Hawks ate the black racer snake that used to sun itself on the front porch.
One turtLe sighting.

Liz, you asked for an update on Sonoma County...
10% of the land area burned and more than 5,000 houses were lost, the feds are bringing in 31,000 workers to help with the cleanup and the State another 11,000.
In a County with a population of 483K and change and a severe shortage of housing.
he disruption is immense, everything from traffic patterns to the availability of services has been impacted.
I'm getting a listing ready for sale (Scheduled for 2/1/18...getting the inspections, repairs and improvements done is difficult.
I need tree work done, last year I could have called and the answer would have been "When do you want the inspection done and how soon do you want the work done?"
This year it's 3 weeks to get someone out to give an estimate and I had to pull in some favors...the work can't be done until 1/18/2018.
Day labor?
Wages up by a third and you take what you can get as far as availability...a two week lead time for one days work for two men.
I have a 9'X 120' flower bed prepared for planting and it looks like I'll be hiring HS Kids to plant the 3,000 daffodils I have sitting in a shed.
Don't ask about the availability of contractors.
Interesting times!

What do you do to deserve your exile?

Labor shortages increase wages! I finally got someone to give an estimate for the roof. Couldn't get anyone bEFORE the storms.

Predict unenployment will go down. We will sent you some Puerto Rico cans, make you both happy, if you want.

So if the unemployment rate reaches say, 3.8 which I think is really full employment, then we should see wages zoom. Poor rich people.
The seller pays for the inspections and repairs,no ?

Good Morning!

Might hit 60F today, still working outside.

Still waiting for significant increase in hours worked. Has to happen some time.

Fisker says they have a solid state battery with fast charge time and way longer range the TESLA. KARMA is back.

Have to train some new roofers. Roof next to my mom and.pop breakfast place being changed also bank bldg. These people came from somewhere. Paid off the books?

Rob Dawg said...

I'd bet for commercial roofer it is a case of overtime.

New post.

I bet a lot of roofers get paid daily or off the books. Especially in areas of need.

I think this might be less true now. Inspectors' eyes are pealed.
