More on Full Employment
You have to love the Fred graphing functions. This is the latest of one I built in 2014. I shows what happened to the working age population overlaid the civilian employment total.
so by 1990 all the women had officially left the kitchen and entered the workforce. we are now at about just below average employment for the working age population. Still a little room to grow, but we are on the low end of normal.
I am never disappointed by the perceptiveness of the EN community.
Yes. The only caveat being the definition of civilian employment level as it does not distinguish the "quality" of the employment.
I thank you and all the other regulars for making this a civil place and also a place where people get smarter not dumber. Not that I am thinking of anyplace else in particular.
I have said this before, but I worry that we are going to lose access to good data like this under Trump. His administration is really handcuffing the since and data collection agencies in the executive branch. The FBI just released it's semiannual crime statistics and it was very thin. It's like they feel that if you don't collect the data then you don't have to acknowledge the problems.
We've been losing access to data for decades. Not Trump. Trump however is defunding lots of basic R&D. I understand why and agree with the motive BUT it should be more funding to cure the disease not less.
This graph also means jus below normal is the best job market a 30 year old has ever seen. Maybe the kids have a reason not to be buying into "the american dream"
There is no normal, but this is certainly a lot better. We will know that we are in superset times when wages go up so much the rich start screaming poverty
Crime data is grant driven as told to me by a policeman decades ago. If there is a domestic abuse arrest the man as grant funding was available. No problem, No money. Isn't life grand
I say job quality has gone down hill for the average person for a long time unless it is skilled labor work.
The next post will update my Fred graph showing FTEs, Full Time Equivalents
Some of this is inspired by Liz going back over the the last dozen years of EN history. She is correct that I have gotten less technical and data intense. This is a combination of needing less and assuming participants have the background information already.
The jobs number is fake news and another way to look at economic health would be people in the work force vs population. Further reason to not use the jobs count as a guide. When GM clasped I remember there where 1/3 working to support 2/3 retirees.
Let’s see. One year into the Obama era we were minus seven million jobs. With Trump plus 3 million. CR doesn’t post that graph anymore either. I will post my FTE graph before I hit the road. 6 hours to Woodland. Sounds like a country song.

The hub jusr wrote a lovely poem for his creative writing class
Maybe when things get slightly better, their music will get slightly cheerier.

Good Morning!

The jobs number is 20% real and the rest a combination of noise and fakery and one time events like the hurricanes.
Ya... When was the last time cr posted about the emratio?

Hey, that's fake too. That was in the Great Recession. Compare to the last couple of years of O' s presidency.
How about the Velocity of money? Is money any faster?
The big number from the jobs report wasn’t mentioned. 968,000 “left” the labor force. Really?
Doesn't move very fast sitting in bankster pockets
Any uptick in velocity and inflation skyrockets.
New post. I'll be checking in maybe at lunchtime.
True. So how many drifted into the retirement years?
What!? Drifted into retirement and weren't replaced by millennial employees?
