Obama Psalma

The Obama is my candidate; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in eco-green pastures:
He leadeth we all from across the still waters.
He restoreth my equity:
He leadeth me in the paths of progressiveness in Hope's name' sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of Bush,
I will fear no Republican: For momentum art with me;
Thy internet donations and thy media, they support me.
Thou preparest an election before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with ever cheaper oil; My proposals runneth over.

Surely wealth redistribution and socialism shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the House of Hope forever.

The people worshipping Obama would just as easily worship Hillary. Heck they would even worship Casey, if Casey was running against the Republicans. It is hatred of the Republicans more than love of Obama that drives everyone into a tizzy.

That said, Obama is running an effective campaign and McCain is running a lousy one.

Partially true. People are just hungry for change. Look at what the republican leadership has done over the last 8yrs and tell me if you think more of McSame is a good idea.

Obama is good because he motivates people and he's different. Hilary put up a good fight too. But, you're right, it doesn't matter who's running for the Dems, they'll win because people are frustrated with the current state of affairs in this country.

Isn't it odd that the best the republican party could come up with is a 71 one year old white guy that looks like he should be playing shuffleboard in Florida rather than leading a country?

Seeing McCain take the nomination makes it clear that Republicans knew this current $hit$torm was coming.

By the way, are these guys ever gonna name a VP? What are they waiting for, October?

It's been interesting to see attitudes towards Obama shift in the internet underworld. While the "Obamabots" still love him dearly and feel he can do no wrong, the far left has turned against him. I have read some amazingly virulent anti-Obama rants from solidly left-wing bloggers. Of course, nobody will be good enough for them, but they have come to conclusion that Obama is incompetent (compared to themselves, naturally) and ideologically weak, and the FISA vote only confirmed that.

At some level, though, I think that the blog underworld just enjoys hating people because they are popular, powerful, or rich, and Obama certainly meets the criteria. Very interesting.

Akubi, prior thread: "Are you an INTJ?
Sometimes I am and other times I'm INFJ - and they don't even have a forum. Why are the INFJ's underrepresented?"

I am an INTJ, although I don't quite define myself by it, but it's a remarkably close fit. You're right, INFJ's are not as well-represented, but that may be because it's more difficult to balance the Feeling/Judging; Thining/Judging is an easier fit.

The FISA vote was wrong. It said that if you are politically powerful, you are above the law.

Obama is a politician and acting like one. I think he is far better than McCain both in judgement, in not being a Republican following Bush, and in organizational skills.

The far left will support him even though they don't trust him. Just like the far right will support McCain though they detest him.

Akubi, prior thread: "What was Casey?"

The INTJ part of me says that he's likely one of those E-somethings. But looking at the list . . .

"ESTP: Friendly, adaptable, action-oriented . . . "

Nope.

"ESTJ: Practical, traditional, and organized . . . "

Nope.

"ESFJ: Warm-hearted, popular, and conscientious . . . "

Nope.

"ENFJ: Popular and sensitive, with outstanding people skills . . . "

Nope.

"ENTP: Creative, resourceful, and intellectually quick . . . "

What, are you kidding me?

"ENTJ: Assertive and outspoken - they are driven to lead . . . "

Nope.

"ENFP: Enthusiastic, idealistic, and creative . . . "

Hmm . . . getting warm.

"ESFP: People-oriented and fun-loving, they make things more fun for others by their enjoyment . . . "

Ding ding ding! Or perhaps, "make things more fun for others by opening themselves up to public humiliation." Even more on the same type:

"Living for the moment, they love new experiences (yep). They dislike theory and impersonal analysis (no kidding). Interested in serving others (OK, not so much). Likely to be the center of attention in social situations (you can say that again). Well-developed common sense and practical ability (yeah, not so much)."

More here. I think it's a pretty close match for Casey.

fannie, freddie, and fha may now borrow as much as they want at the feds window. They don't need to issue bonds anymore.

BIG What does this mean. For starters, they will be paying 2% for their funds instead of 6%. That's big. The increased spread will allow them to cover their losses.

BIGGER: As the rest of the mortgage industry falters then fades away, fannie, freddie, and fha will be the only significant players left standing. They will go from controlling 50% of the industry to virtually the entire mortgage industry.

BIGGEST: Congress and the government will gain control of rates for homeloans made through fannie, freddie, and fha. In all likelihood we will have the most left leaning government we've ever had 6 months from now. We will see the socialization of housing. Loans will be made to people based on perceived need and political connection. This will be an up-side-down system whereby those with the best credit and the largest down payments will pay the highest rates. We taxpayers will be on the hook for the dreggs who will be able to continue buying houses as they move from one trashed home to the next.

@PV,
Yeah ESFP sounds about right.
They love to be the center of attention and perform for people.
The ESFP under a great deal of stress gets overwhelmed with negatives thoughts and possibilities. As an optimistic individual who lives in the world of possibilities, negative possibilities do not sit well with them. In an effort to combat these thoughts, they're likely to come up with simple, global statements to explain away the problem. These simplistic explanations may or may not truly get to the nature of the issue, but they serve the ESFP well by allowing them to get over it.

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of Bush,"

I think that should read:

"Yea, as I walk through the desolation and failure of Bush".

THAT explains why Obama is doing so well - Current policies have left the country in terrible shape, people want a change.

Bush is not personall responsible for every problem we face, but his policies have led to many of them.

It also doesn't hurt Obama that McCain is a terrible speaker. Putting the two next to each other brings up memories of Kennedy / Nixon. McCain comes across as an amature compared to Obama, regardless of what either is saying.

On the subject of Casey's Myers-Briggs type, he claimed:

According to Please Understand Me II my personality is Inventor Rational (ENTP) or Promoter Artisan (ESTP). Although I am not a super strong “E” but rather a balance between Extroverted and Introverted, leaning towards the E. So I guess I’m an “XXTP”.

Casey is ABSOLUTELY NOT a "T" personality. Definitely an "F".

I don't think so. Perhaps he took a shorter ADD version of the test...

In other somewhat more topical news, John McCain is attacked by apple sauce.

That London Times article is fantastic. I have been referring to Obamma as Messiah 2.0. Obama will win this fall despite having a resume barely better than commenters here. Maybe a famous British quote could be altered for him "never has so much power been wielded over so many for doing so little". This is the perfect year for Dems, as many posters have pointed out, but I think long term, they hurt themselves by not nominating Hilldog and saving Obama for a later prez run.

Rob Dawg said...

Whoever wins will be excoriated by events. McCain is a one gtermer. Why the Dems didn't let the Reps finish self destructing is beyond me. Regardless the Conservative Party after this election is the party of the future. Whether the Conservative Party is called the Republicans is not germane.

I also seem to be rapidly approaching an "F" in gender, as well. Interesting coincidence, that. ;-)

Socialism for maggots is what we have now. My only problem with Obama is that he won't be ruthless enough in the purge.

Pelosi and Co have tried to allow the Republicans to continue their path of self destruction. That is why Congress has a 9% approval rating.

While Washington gets into these political games, the rest of us actually would prefer government to do its job.

9-17% approval rating for CON greffs? That makes me LMAO, seeing as how more than half of them will get re-elected. Everyone hates everyone else's comrade politico, but they love their own with all their might. Name recognition and pork, that's what gets those fat pigs another term every time. Book it. The quote is from additional remarks he makes following on from a recent Time Magazine article.
.... "Tenth and final point, so what is left as the only solution is the outright formal or informal nationalization of the U.S. financial system. That effective and creeping nationalization is already underway with the variety of actions that the Fed and the U.S. Treasury have taken and that we described above. So this is the paradox of this U.S. administration: it was so rabidly and ideologically free-markets oriented and averse to any sensible regulation and supervision of the financial system that its policies of being asleep at the wheel caused the biggest asset bubble and credit bubble (not just in mortgages) in U.S. history. And now the unavoidable bust of this bubble is going to force an effective nationalization of a good chunk of the U.S. financial system as no one else but the government can do the job.
This is what the free-market ideologues at the Fed, Treasury and White House have now become – especially after the bailout of Fannie and Freddie’s shareholders, management and bondholders – Comrade Paulson, Comrade Bernanke and the Bolshevik Great Leader Bush. But then their whole approach and ideology has always been not one of free market capitalism but rather one of privatizing gains and socializing the losses; or socialism for Wall Street, the rich and the well connected. So they will now get what they deserve and worked so hard to achieve: a nationalization and bailout of the U.S. financial system."
