What I Did On My Summer Vacation

The time stamp reads 06/23/08 04:26:06 PM

This was when I knew WaMu was doomed. I can't think of more clichés rolled into one picture.

Don't strain your eyes. Here are a few of my artsy fartsy pics from the trip:

At least WaMu wasn't the FIRST to go...

Any ideas on when they hit the wall?

They are up for sale...you can bid on owning their losses and long term leases. Oh, and the intellectual capital!

They crossed the event horizon when they went for a "signature corporate building." We call this the Sears Effect.

nice picture of the seattle sky line... that new building right accross 1st ave from the wamu tower is the four seasons... designed the fire sprinkler system there...

enough bragging. I was up there the other day (at the wamu tower, i park there when i visit the 4 seasons site) business as usual I guess.

the news today that they put themselves up for auction.

this particular bank's potential failure has caught my morbid fascination for whatever reason... I'm sure it's going to be a big non-event similar to the indymac situation.

That third pic looks like Multnomah Falls in Oregon (and be sure you pronounce it "Oregin.") Did you cross the Columbia?

BTW Oregon has no state sales tax. A lot of Seattleites and Fort Vancouverites make their big purchases down there. Sort of like the NH-MA symbiosis.

@ Pleather

Yeah, i've defiantly put off large purchases until I was heading through Oregon for a vacation at Long Beach. (Oregon is also a handy place to purchase ever clear, but that's another topic) I heard an opinion from a lawyer and the Washington tax law apparently compels a state citizen to stop by the department of revenue on their way back home and cut a check to the state for the sales tax you would have payed for that 60" television or Refrigerator. I'm sure that happens every day.

Location, Location, Location...

So, I've been trying to figure out where Snowflake is staying now that he's been kicked out of the nest...
Figured it couldn't be too far, since he's too much of a chickenshit to move too far from his safe place...

So, today, on his Twitter the twit twitted this:
Jogged/walked like 2 mi to the sweet spot in Fair Oaks, felt fairly energetic. Laid around soaking in the sun by the river... back to work

If I'm reading my map correctly... within two miles of this spot there is 1. an Extended Stay America Here
and 2. an Extended Stay America Here

I took the liberty of calling this one:
11299 Point East Dr
Rancho Cordova, CA 95742
(916) 859-0280

...asked how much a weekly rate would be... $429 + Taxes. There's a one time 4.99 internet fee.. I'm guessing that adds up to close to $500?

Oh, and when you call, the menu asks you "if you want to reach a guest, press 1..."

Benoit...? Interested in this info?

Jean ValJean said...

sorry, that shoudl've been $329 and $400.

Excellent haterz sleuthing.

JVJ, sign up at CaseyHaterz... I'm more apt to quickly see your messages there. ;-)

Go to caseyhaterz.com and click the "contact us" link... I'm not the admin, but tell 'em who you are, etc.

Anyway, I don't have Skype or anything (I'm in NYC), but I'd call them and just ask if there's a Casey Serin staying there. I guess you're reading his blog; he claimed the weekly rate is $400. Nice work, especially if it pans out! :-)

Simplex?

@Zintradi

They could always set up border checkpoints and search vehicles. I wish I was joking but at this point nothing would surprise me.

I started shifting my money out of WaMu a couple months ago. Any opinions on Chase?

Like all tall buildings and failures, I highly suspect this entire situation is penis oriented.

Regard to the tone of some of your writings; one might infer that a penis is just what you need.

Hey Lou,

Chase may very well end up owning WAMU, they are in talks right now. So maybe you don't even have to move your money!

(but if you have BIG money, I would spread it around)

I have an account at Downey, I wonder what sign they are gonna be wearing soon???

I'm thinking Downey or Affinity are this weeks' BFF entre.

Do I have to pay my car insurance, since AIG is broke? I suppose I better look for a company that will pay when I make a claim.

Don't assume the contract is null and void, another insurer might pick it up. You should get a letter anyway.
